View Full Version : totally hypothetical SLC question

SHOULD (let me re-iterate this, SHOULD) SLC go DIV. 1, would the attack teams double up on the linemen to symbolize the super big ET lines? Suppose SLC is practicing offense, would they stick like 8 not as big kids up against the 5 O-linemen so they can get used to blocking even harder than they do? Or would they just use other really huge kids to practice on? I think the idea of having them block 2 big kids would help strengthen them for the tongans ( idk if i spelled it right). Anybody else think of how they would handle that?

but I think the 4 biggest are already on O-line and can't practice against themselves. maybe? I can't tell the size difference. I just don't know if the attack team could help prepare the starters for the real deal.

I'm sure if the game becomes a reality, Coach Dodge is probably going to be able to game-plan for Trinity...don't ya think?...

The only way to beat SLC is to gameplan against them ala' ND vs USC. Coach Weise kept the USC's offense on the sideline by staying with the run and going on long drives. A team that can run on SLC will have a chance. Last year during the playoffs. Abilene played SLC very close 35-30. SLC had and answer for every AHS touchdown. If AHS would of had a more consistent running game I think we could of closed the deal. SLC has to many playmakers this year on offense. I feel a team's best chance to win will be to keep them on the sideline with a dominant run game that drains the clock because SLC will score. :D :D -

that is completly true but if u remember last year and the year before they lost in state for that reason and had an even closer game then the one with abilene with sv 27-24 because asu said they controlled the ball and but they did not need to keep them on the sidelines

Which brings me back to the USC scenario. ND did everything right in that game, but USC still won because they had the playmakers. Just like SLC both AHS and SV did all they could to keep the offense off the field.

Against Abilene last year it was the Carroll D that came up with the big Int. to shut down the Eagles..Carrolls defense is even better this year, especially against the run...no one has been able to score running the ball against the Dragon D this year....The playoffs, as usual, should be interesting...

As I no absolutely nothing what so ever of Trinity football. I have to ask the question no there are defintely some big boys on tha tline just looking at the stats their site. Though my question is can these big boys move for boys that size or are they just big? If they are big and fast then I could maybe see them giving some people some problems, but if they are just big tubs then that's another story.

Maybe the SLC players should just turn in their uniforms after the last regular season game. I mean Trinity, with their massive o-line and superior athletes will just embarrass the Dragons.
I for one suggest Dodge just annoint the Trojans as all-universe and go fishing after district play.

From what I saw speed on the line is deff. not one of their stengths. I was not real impressed. Its nothin the dragons cant handle.

I am tiring of all this SLC garbage. SLC has not played anyone yet that should even be on the field with them. They play in a weak district against weak teams who are beaten before the game even starts = SLC has the psychological victory over every team in their district right now. Wait until the playoffs and they can meet up with some teams who aren't "skeered" and can just play football. Then we will see how good they are. All these victories now Richland, Grapevine Keller - who cares ? is that really something to brag about ?

SLC has played some mid-level teams and destroyed them. That equates to being favored in the tough games.

The same could be said of the following teams in the following districts :-
Abilene in D3 @ 8-0
Euless Trinity in D6 @ 8-0
Longview in D12 @ 8-0
Lufkin in D14 @ 7-0
Spring Westfield in D22 @ 5-0
The state is full of unbeaten teams who have weaker teams in their district. My take on SLC is that as the current State Champs, they appear to not have not missed a beat and have continued where they left off at the end of last season. I was always told "it isn’t bragging if it’s true"!! Until someone beats SLC, either in the district or the play-offs – they are quite rightly recognized as #1.

ok so they play in a "girlie" district, the problem is that those GREAT teams in the playoffs can't beat them either....
dude, they are a machine...true, teams got closer last year, but they are better, overall in my opinion, this year...
it will take a team that is flawless to beat them, and I can only think of a handful that could play with them right now:
1. Trinity
2. Westfield
3. Lufkin
4. Katy (the most dangerous and under the radar team this year)
**I know you may think I may of left some teams out, but these are the ones that I think can RIGHT now**

Denton Ryan could not "play with anyone." They are an above-average team playing in the same district SLC plays in. They may be one of the Top 50 teams in the state, if that.

Man, do I hate to barge my way into this post . . . but I guess I'll do it anyway. I thought this post started as a reflection on E-Trinity's O-Line. Now it has digressed to irrational statements. Let's see, "DR this year who can play with anyone" . . . except SLC (41-0). Or maybe they're implying that SLC will take out all of their playoff opponents by a score of at least 41-0. That can't be it - obviously, I must be confused . . . Back to E-Trinity's O-Line - that big in high school, whew . . . it's got to be formidable.

Do not sell Denton Ryan short. SLC made them look bad, but they are not. Remember, the only 5A team that has beat Denton Ryan since they because 5A has been SLC. IF both Denton Ryan and SLC get into the playoffs again, then SLC will still be the only 5A team to beat Denton Ryan during thier brief stay in 5A.
