Man, I've looked and looked - and haven't found anything other than fast food. Maybe they have a Jalapeno Tree? I know there's one in Henderson.

I'm pretty sure they have a Jalapeno Tree.

I can remember a time when I was a kid going to church in Kilgore and they only had TWO restaurants open on Sundays for a town of over 10K. The church people would always drive to Longview to eat.

Country Tavern is outside of Kilgore but it has FANTASTIC ribs.
Longview isn't that far away and there are great restaurants there too.

Coming from Lufkin, stop in Tyler. Pick a place. But, when you get to the loop on 59, turn right or you won't find anything. There's lots of choices as you go around to the hwy heading for Kilgore. Can't for the life of me remember the number. But it is the one past the one for Chandler. :o And you'll be taking a right.

Never needed to know the Hwy number you see. To get to the beer halls, all we had to know was "take the Kilgore highway" :D

OMG, am I embarrassed. :o You're absolutely right. I haven't lived there in 30 years you know. Hey, at least now I know the Hwy # for "the Kilgore Highway" While I don't hate the man, I DO agree about the mess of traffic part. Hell, I looked back at the original post and see that I got the name of the town East of Tyler wrong too. It's Chapell Hill, not Chandler. They are opposite directions on Hwy 31.
