I know what you mean. Those receivers have so long to get down field and get open (thanks to that massive O-Line every year).

our Oline is not "massive" - good size, but not massive. After all, we don't have any 379lb tongans.
When defenders blitz that is when Tre' runs the screen to perfection. Well, Luna ran it to perfection, and Tre' is getting there.

can greg get the ball off if a defensive line and linebackers are in his face when he get's the ball from the centerSLC had two games this year with around 350 yards rushing. Also, SLC has been extremely effective with the short pass all season. It's not much different than a hand off to them.
SLC could be the best team in Texas at taking what the defense gives them, long or short.

Who are the starters, who are the back ups and who are third string. I have read a lot of cricism of SLC keeping their starters in late in the game. I guess these stats prove that theory wrong. They all cannot be starters; SLC must have real good back-ups at WR. Please enlighten the uninformed.

Yes they are loaded at the receiver position...Thats why I can't stand them. (envy)
Those lineman are well above average though. Not the biggest in the state but they are very good.

Unless there's been a change by the family -- it's Renfro - not Renfrow -- I've seen Renfrow multiple times this year from SLC fans. Am I missing something, is your program messed, up or do we have some bad spellers - it couldn't be the latter I'm sure.

They all cannot be starters; SLC must have real good back-ups at WR. Please enlighten the uninformed.SLC platoons at WR with the back-ups in on almost every drive. Most of these guys get plenty of playing time in all four quarters. I believe the starters are Jacobson, Renfro, Fentriss and Allen but others have also started. Of course, Riley Dodge is the back-up QB but he plays slot receiver on 3rd or 4th down and long when they use a 5 receiver set.
Fentriss and Renfro are the starters at the farthest wide-out positions. They are the primary targets on the long pass. That is why they have much higher yards gained per catch.
SLC platoons at several postions but at WR the most. We all know they play two QBs but platooning happens on both sides of the ball. With all of the platooning combined with Coach Dodge's philosophy to 1) respect every opponent for every minute and 2) play very focused on every play it leads to criticism. So be it.
Several fools have posted that SLC "plays to the polls" or "plays for the stats." That's totally stupid. They play to be the best when play-offs arrive. No more and no less than that. Don't hold your breath waiting for Coach Dodge to change because it won't happen.

They tried blitzing the line backers. They refused to alter their game plan as they were getting throttled. The resullt was 365 yards rushing, 285 yards passing and 59 points for SLC.

Was it me or did I see Riley Dodge line up at RB for a couple of plays?

In my opinion, defending a spread offense run as well as Carroll's starts up front. If you can't create pressure, you don't have a chance. Even the best secondaries can't cover that many people downfield if the QB has enough time to throw. You can't just "sit back and defend" a spread option just like you can't just read and react vs. an option. You have to attack as a defense (controlled) and disrupt. Obviously, easier said than done.

Yeah, he looked like Chase Wasson in 01 there for a while! :)

Obviously, easier said than done. The reason it's easier said than done is because you can't use your linebackers very much to pressure the QB. You've got to create pressure with the front 4. The LB's are needed mostly in coverage or SLC will beat you with the short pass, screen pass or draw/counter running play.

I'd bet Anthony Ford would've been in the mix as well, if he hadn't been playing corner all game as it has been. But seriously, the depth is amazing. The fact that anthony has been able to take over Arius's spot so well is good, should he still be playing that during playoffs/next year it should be amazing.

The whole team is seniors. There are like 50 something seniors on the team. I think there are something like 10 underclassmen that play on friday night right now and only three to four starters and they are all on defense except Newton

No dig, just reality. Like most others, we would love to have an athlete of any nationality that was 360+ and could move.
