lets talk about this upcoming year!
Pearland Longhorn
02-11-2008, 08:35 PM
Pearland will go undefeated. Deer Park will be pretty good and should get 2nd. Pasadena Memorial will be a one man show but will be a solid 3rd. Kasey Carrier will run for 2,000 yards.
3 good backs that will be fun to watch. Carrier, Snelson, and Shawn Onyechi.

all of them except Pearland make early exits, pearland goes to Region finals only to lose to NS.

Well we still have a lot of experience on D. Losing Obi hurts but Dantrayal will still clog the inside up nicely. J Stew will take away the big plays back at safety. Pearland has had an above average defense every single year this decade except for the last semifinal run. We'll be fine.
The offense should be a huge improvement. Allen will add some arm strength in the offseason and will have the weapons to throw to.
Kasey is gonna go crazy next year. I look for a similar performance to what Fozzy did his senior year.
Any news on the pre-district schedule? I heard we will play Memorial again. I really don't wanna play Kempner. They're such a boring team and we've beaten them like 6 times now.

as always... i still dont like sam allen, he has no composure or constistency. He also has no touch on his throws. this offseason he must mature alot, and work on those passes

Lame pre-district. If we don't go 10-0 it's a failure.
Sam just needs to put on weight. With the weight he'll add arm strength and have some more confidence in the pocket. He was only a junior and did pretty well. He was inconsistent though you're right about that. He looked great against Lake. If we can get that kind of play out of him we'll be in good shape. I look for him to put up similar numbers to what Speciale did in 05.
I thought Carlos should have started all year. He wasn't a great passer either but he did have arm strength. He could make a lot of throws that Sam couldn't. Plus he seemed a lot faster. Coach Heath must have seen something in Sam though that made him decide to give Sam 2 years to develop. Sam has no excuses this year.
Have you followed Dawson HS any? They dominated JV teams last year and look like they have a ton of athletes. That backfield looks deadly. I wish we would schedule them.

dawson will be dominated in 24-4a, they have NO size. and the reason sam started is because of the last name "allen"

Pearland - Good offense, solid defense. Should be favored to win district.
Players to watch:
QB-Sam Allen (6-0 180)
RB-Kasey Carrier (5-9 180)
RB-Josh Gonzales (5-7 170)
WR-Kevin Miller (6-1 170)
OT-Ian Gray (6-8 315)
OG-Jack Andrews (6-0 275)
DT-Dantrayal Smith (6-1 300)
DE-Mario Turner (6-2 190) (If he puts on 15-20 lbs, he may be a D1 prospect!)
DE-Chioke Burnett (6-3 195) (If he puts on 15-20 lbs, he may be a D1 prospect!)
LB-Jonathan Brogdon (5-10 200)
LB-Dennis Walls (6-0 180)
DB-Jerrad Stewart (5-9 180)
Pasadena Memorial - Solid offense, struggling defense.
Players to watch:
RB-Bo Snelson (5-9 180)
LB-Taylor Hart (6-1 210)
WR-Chance Imhoff (6-1 200)
OT-Jacob Socie (6-5 285)
OG-Danny Vance (6-1 260)
Deer Park - Will have a good enough team win the majority of their games. Playmakers on offense and special teams!
Players to watch:
RB-Travis Carter (5-9 175)
RB-Shawn Oneychi (5-9 180)
WR-Natreon Moose (6-0 170)
WR/DB-Zach Gonzales (5-9 160)
WR/DB-Travis Fettgater (5-9 170)
DT-Ronnie Victor (5-10 250)
Pasadena South Houston - There's a tall QB (McCoy??) that might be a 2010 sleeper! Don't expect much, but they have some D1 athletes.
Players to watch:
DE-Chris Loveless (6-4 225)
OG-Humberto Caceras (6-3 300)
La Porte - Perkins was a sophmore in 2007, I'm expecting good things in 2008. Offense should move the ball, but defense may be a water sift!
Players to watch:
RB-Kendric Perkins (6-3 200)
AP/KR/PR-Duke Hawkins (5-5 150)
WR-Jimmy Randle (6-3 190)
OL-Arturo Marrero-Choe (6-1 275)
OL-Adam Kley (6-2 245)
OL-Justin Carnes (6-1 250)
DT-Ian Ogando (6-0 315)
BOLD indicates 2009/2010 D1 Prospects!
Predict Finish:
1) Pearland
2) Deer Park
3) Pasadena Memorial
4) LaPorte
5) South Houston
Pasadena, Pasadena Dobie and Pasadena Rayburn wont be a factor for any of the 5 teams, listed above.

La Marque rarely has size and they dominate that district. Dawson must have done something right. They killed JV teams with 15 year olds last year.
Sam definitely has some big shoes to fill to do what his brother did. I remember the first time I saw Noah play he threw 6 touchdowns (or was it 5? Either way he was on fire).

Being watching La Marque for quite a while and they always have size, speed and overall great athleticism. They don't have a ton of power, but that is to be expected given their facilities... which are pathetic. (Nearly 2A like!)
Here are some sizeable players, from La Maruqe over the past 2 or 3 yrs, that are now playing D1 football:
OT-Aundre McGaskey (6-5 290)
OT-Brandon Garrett (6-7 300)
OT-Jared Williams (6-6 275)
DE-Raphael Guidry (6-4 250)
WR-Joseph Florence (6-5 200)
DE-Michael Ray (6-2 245)
DT-Richard Jones (6-2 275)
LB-James Francis Jr (6-1 220)
LM will have, probably, 3 or 4 300-lb JV and Freshmen players move up to Varsity in 2008. They got size!

Mario Turner really impressed me. Our pass rush was probably the best in state towards the end of the year. The D-line was eating NS's O-line up all night. McGintee just did a really good job of slipping out of tackles and buying himself some extra time.
I like the back from La Porte. He doesn't have much talent around him though.
What do you think about the QB Cook from DP?
