i dont know what desota has returning. mesquite lost some good offensive talent but has a the good QB coming back. lee has alot of talent returning on defense. the offensive line will be as inexperienced as it has been in some time. JT is the team that can surprise alot of people with the group they have coming back. i think horn will make a big jump to. this will be a good district. week to week tough match-ups. its hard to say right now who will win it. but if lee wouldnt have the O-line issues this year. they would be one of my top 2. i am still riding with lee because of the strong coaching staff they have . the o-line may not be as much of a factor as we all think. jt, lee, mesquite and horn. i feel desoto will be softer without cyrus grey being there.

DeSoto's doesn't return many players on either side, but the JV team won district so there is some talent to work with. It all really depends on who they hire for the HC, that ultimately determines how strong we will be next year.

Well as I see it, 11-5a is alittle wide open and I think there could be some very good games week to week. JT returns more starters than anyone in the district. From what I have heard and seen so far they will be better prepared and stronger across the board. They return the entire ol-line except one. IMO it will come down to their offseason and "desire to win". REL returns alot of their defense and they return Dada Brown and Wagoner(back-up qb). Desoto has SPEED, SPEED, and you get the picture. Now they have lost alot of players from last year like Gray, Tony Jerrod, and Adrian Bushell. They will have a new coach and that will decide alot. If anyone is going to get them now is the time to get them. They will be young, but will have plenty talent in the lower grades. Mesquite lost alot of key seniors, but they have a solid program. Mesquite will not be as good as last year IMO. North will be very competitive and should not be takened likely. They return a good number of kids this year and coach Robinson is good coach. Horn will have a long transition this year with losing around 15 or so starters and their head coach. I see JT as somewhat of a darkhorse team in alot ways. They can't go nowhere but up after going a miserable and frustrating 1-9 in '07.

When speaking of this district outside of the new Desoto HC one name is being missed Ryan Polite as a freshman he threw for 500 yards and 7 touchdowns he will guide the desoto offense in a new direction for the Cyrus Team and also look at recievers Darius Terrell and Antione Jimerson Desoto was young on defense last year with alot of young players playing alot last year if that unit comes together Desoto will wipe the floor with this district this will not be as competitive as the 8-5a last year when it was loaded

i could'nt dis agree with you more. this district is just as strong as the one one desoto just left from. these teams are no push over and many of them have more recent state title than desotoif they have any at all.

I gotta agree with most when I say that this district is wide open.
With the most starters returning, John Tyler deserves some mention of being a favorite for the district title. Coach Rush has gotten his feet wet, and with a full off-season under his belt, the Lions maybe ready to make a huge roar down in East Texas.
Robert E. Lee will be tough as usual, led by the fleet-footed Dada Brown. Lee has a reputation for having big lines and if they can continue that trend, then they should be okay.
DeSoto is the new kid on the block in this district. They've lost the most, but that area never runs out of talent. Soon to be sophomore QB Ryan Polite will lead the Eagles this fall and depending on who they hire as a coach, Polite may be able to showcase his big arm. As usual, the Eagles will have lots of speed.
Mesquite has lost quite a few guys as well, but return Luke Halpin at QB. Of course, the Skeeters have a great coach in Luke's daddy Steve Halpin, and as usual, you never count the Skeeters out.
Mesquite Horn hasn't had much success at all since the school opened, but they've just picked up a good coach in Rodney Webb from Royse City. Webb maybe just what the Jags need over in Mesquite to get their program up and running.
The North Mesquite Stallions come into the 2008 season with some good talent returning, and the Stallions are led by former Wilmer-Hutchins head coach Mike Robinson. Coach Robinson is a very underrated coach who is primed for big things, and with the talent that the Stallions have coming back, they could be primed for a big season this year.
This district is going to be VERY EXCITING this year. I've also gotta feeling that this district will be tougher than most think. As of right now, this is how I think this district will finish;
1. North Mesquite
2. John Tyler
3. DeSoto (could change depending on who they pick for their coach)
4. Robert E. Lee
5. Mesquite High
6. Mesquite Horn
I'd also like to add that I could see this district finishing in many different ways. Even though I picked Mesquite High to finish 5th, I wouldn't be surprised if they finished 2nd. I could also see John Tyler, Lee or DeSoto winning the district, and with the new hire, I wouldn't be surprised if Horn snuck their way into the playoffs.
In all honesty, this district is a toss-up!
