DR's win over CH (28-14) has cleared up the playoff picture in 5-5A. Assuming all of the teams competing for the playoff spots (DR, GV, CH, and KFR) win next week as expected (v. Haltom, Richland, and Keller), and, GV loses to SLC, then GV can only make the playoffs, IF, in the last week:
a. GV beats CH
AND
b. DR either beats KFR, or,
b'. KFR beats DR by less than 7 points.
You can thank the 5-5A point differential tiebreaker for the above.
While GV will be favored over CH, KFR will be fighting for its playoff life against DR. Assuming DR beats Haltom next week, DR will have already earned a playoff spot (due to point differentials) when it plays KFR. So, its anyone's guess how DR will play that game against KFR.
(Complete tiebreaker analysis over at the Denton Ryan v. Colleyville Heritage thread - if someone sees an error, please let us know).

If GV beats Heritage, they will be in the playoffs.

If GV beats Heritage, they will be in the playoffs.
If GV beats CH, then GV is 5-2. If KFR beats DR, then both KFR and DR are 5-2. Because none of the teams beat the other two, the point differential tiebreaker has to be used. DR will have the maximum 14 due to its win over GV. GV only has 7 due its win over KFR. Therefore, KFR gets into the playoffs by beating DR by more than 7. GV gets in only if KFR beats DR by less than 7.

Why is that? Do you want SLC in D2 for some reason?

Analysis above is explained:
GV beats CH and finishes 5-2. KFR beats DR and both finish 5-2. Point differential tiebreaker is used because none of the teams beat the other two. DR is in because it has 14 points due to its win over GV. GV has 7 points because of its win over KFR. KFR will have up to 14 points by its hypothetical win over DR. Therefore, KFR is in if it beats DR by 8 or more. GV is in if KFR beats DR by 6 or less. If KFR beats DR by exactly 7, then I believe the third tiebreaker (district record against individual district opponents from highest to lowest) is used. And I haven't done that yet.

From this perspective, hope SLC goes D2 so there is a possibility that DR can get a rematch. Maybe it will be snowing that day - DR is a good snow team.

Can we agree that it is more likely that GV beats CHHS than Ridge beating DR .

yes we can agree. I see CHHS beating GV and DR beating Fridge. Ponder should have a field day.

Ponder was knocked out of the DR game Friday night in the fourth quarter after being hit on a DR blitz. Not sure of the nature or the extent of the injury. But he had to be helped off. Also, apparently CH's best running back was injured and did not play against DR.
The winner of GV v. CH might be the team that has the ball last - both teams can score in a hurry.
But remember, GV just has to win (assuming DR beats KFR) while CH must win by 11 points or more.

If Heritage is banged up, Keller could make things interesting. And if Keller wins, all of a sudden that Heritage/Grapevine game wouldn't be nearly as important.
