The pictures they posted are as slanted as they can be. There is an obvious bias for TCU with so many pictures and I can't complain about that since it's a Fort Worth paper.
There was an obvious attempt to put Texas in a good light and I bet there was better stuff they could have posted for A&M and I know they could've put Texas Tech in a better light. I laughed when others had hydrotherapy, but Tech was said to have a whirlpool. No, they have hydrotherapy just like Texas and North Texas.
Some of these pictures were on the Startlegram slide show, but I thought I'd give you the link for all the pictures:
http://texastech.cstv.com/facilities/text-facilities.html
Money spent on athletics shows up in how nice the facilities are:
North Texas is down in the $11M range and poor.
Guys like UTEP, Houston, Rice, and SMU are in the $20 something million range.
TCU and Baylor are in the $30 something million range.
Texas Tech was last reported around $53 million and that was 24th nationally.
Texas A&M was over $60 million the last time and Texas was over $90 million in athletic expenses.

Only lonny is dumb enough to claim media bias in a bunch of pictures of player's lounges and whatnot. It's all part of the man trying to hold Tech down, lonny. They've taken over the Star-Telegram and they are going to use it to hold the Raiders down.

Although, there is lots of stuff they missed out on at A&M. No photos of the Aggie players' lounge. None of Netum Steed Laboratory, which is one of the best strength and conditioning facilities in the country....

There was a lot of stuff missing from all of the schools. I don't think it was intended to be a comprehensive showing.
They didn't show any of the Bryan and Deborah Stolle Academic Center...
http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/image_lib/academics_530.jpg
They showed none of the indoor facility that was designed by the same firm that did most of the NFL indoor venues or any of the Frank Denius Fields...
http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/image_lib/practice_fields_530.jpg
http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/image_lib/indoor_facility_530.jpg
And they only showed a small part of the player's lounge...

There's actually 7-8 mobile home dealerships along I-35 on the way up to Oklahoma, all of them in Texas. Maybe there was one in Ardmore, though.

Certainly, I already said that on the last page.
Now, when UT players come visit, do they visit the Travis County Jail? They most likely will end up spending a few nights there during their tenure at UT. Or is that the suprise once they are already on campus?

Perry, your pictures, while nice, are not appropriate for the paper's story. The pictures of academic buildings, fountains, and plazas are not athletic facilities, which is what the article clearly wanted to focus on. You see no pictures of the UT belltower, Texas Tech's Will Rogers, or Texas A&M's Century Oak.
The gameday scenes of flyovers and crowds are a bit more relevant, but none of the other university's had pictures of packed houses or gameday atmospheres. The basketball court is completely irrelevant, as this is about football recruits. No, the focus was clearly on the football specific facilities such as locker rooms, lounges, weight rooms, PT rooms, etc. that UNT and the other programs had to offer. Perhaps they could have chosen better pics of UNT's facilities, but they have no duty to run pictures of the UNT admin building just to make it look nicer.

You can on certain days. I went through the entire second and third floors with about 5 or 6 family members. I also took about 100 pictures and a couple video walk throughs without being disturbed. I saw several recruits while I was looking around.
I also went down to the field. I wasn't allowed on but they let me go down pretty close. Heisman Park is also pretty impressive.

I know for a fact that they tour the Switzer Center which is very nice. Even non-football recruits can go there to talk to coaches.I bet they're wearing high heels, too!:D

Actually, the Switzer center is the illegal distribution center for football players. It's named after Swizter because he was the king of illegal distribution. Players can go here to get Kegs of ice cold beer, guns, weed, and hookers too. Players can also sign up for jobs that pay well and require little work. Big Red Sports/Imports is the main sponsor of this.

Fair enough. I just threw a few extras in since I was searching for pictures. Point taken.

Yes. I have to admit, rows of barbells were a pretty strange choice in the original photo article.

I worked with a girl who had been a "hostess" for the recruits when they came in at Tech. She was smokin hot by the way....She insisted that she didn't "do em" but that she didn't have much trouble finding girls who would "do em" (the recruits)...kind of sad....

I have no doubt. Recruiting is such a shady process. I wouldn't be surprised to hear any story from any school out there.

I have no doubt what you're saying, but I was talking about wrestling/basketball/etc. While I was visiting I got to talking to a guy who was going to wrestle for OU, he said one of the coaches offices was in there and he was looking around while waiting.

Yes, that kind of thing has been going around for years. "Johnny Be Good" was a pretty accurate movie for the topics it covered.
I think the hostess groups are "**** Squads" just as much as I think these guys that are giving cars to the coaches are the same people who are doing it for the players. You don't need 20 something car dealers for the coaches if they're not throwing in for athletes, too.

That's what makes me hate the UT fans so much. They throw stones at OU, but they're just as guilty. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I think there are people affiliated with every big-time football program that are cheating and that includes the Red Raiders. It's not always team collusion where the coaches and administrators are sponsoring it, but it's going on.
I was looking at one of Tech's programs last night and I saw all the car sponsors. They had a picture of the hostesses in there.
If you look at the OSU program, they have even more car dealers than Tech. Their hostesses are an all-star crew and they actually get most of them from Oklahoma, but they also import plenty of Texans.
I'd give you the numbers on Texas, but I don't have that program at my house. It's at work, but it's the same story, except they have more car dealers than OSU.
The SMU program from this year doesn't list any car sponsors or talk about hostesses, but they're probably out there.
I don't know where my A&M program is at right now or I'd give their numbers.
I have the OU program handy and they had 34 car dealerships listed as sponsors in 06. They didn't show the pictures of the hostesses like Tech, Texas, and OSU.
A&M had their hostesses pictures, too. I'm pretty sure I saw a picture of Reveille!:p

I didn't know that word wasn't an approved word. Imagine that, a non-cuss word is banned, but a word that some would consider a cuss word isn't.
