:( CLEMENS PLAYED A GREAT ALL AROUND GAME AND HAD MANY KIDS STEP UP IN A 34-24 WIN TONIGHT AGAINST A VERY GOOD SAN MARCOS RATTLERS TEAM!

James Henry went down with a possible broken left leg in the first quarter playing defense on the Rattlers' first offensive series. Clemens' Jamal Robinson then picked off a Rattlers' pass and took it to the house for a 14-0 lead. SM came back with an great drive to make it 14-7. Clemens' Jared Reynolds took then took the kickoff back 101 yards to put Clemens up 21-0. SM added a field goal to make it 21-10 at the half.

SM took the opening kickoff and drove down the field to pull to 21-18 with a two point conversion. Clemens answered with a drive of their own finished by a beautiful pass play for a TD to go up 28-18 to end the third quarter. Clemens scored on a long TD run by Jamal Robinson in the 4th to make it 34-0. SM scored last with a 1:30 to go in the game to end the scoring.

SM has a very, very good offense but the better team won tonight even without their super star player for 3 1/2 quarters! Clemens proved tonight that they are for real and a team to be reckoned with this year! SM could also make some noise this year in the playoffs!

It's true, SM has a great offense, our defense was on the field the entire night. I think our offense only had 5 or 6 possessions, is that right?

Yep, but we made the most of them! Bottom line, that's all that counts and we showed that we are not a one-man team and can flat get it done when the chips are down. I really feel for James, he's a great kid with a bright future. He played almost the entire year with a bad ankle and now this! He will get over it and be a great college player and Clemens will get even better after this big win! It hurts to loose an all-american like him but they proved they are a real team tonight!!!!

Yeah, a bummer with the thought of Henry's high school career being over. :(

The only bright side was they showed what us Clemens backers have been saying...Clemens is not a one man team.

But they will miss him tremendously. You can't lose an athlete like that and not have a negative effect. Henry told a TV reporter that the meds believe it's broken but "I don't think it is". He's having it x-rayed in the morning so we'll find out for sure later.

And the Rattlers' offense is something else! They grind you and grind you and spin the clock. It seemed like Clemens only had the ball about 5 times with 3 TD's, one punt, and running out the clock at the end. Watch out for the Rattlers in the playoffs. The only thing that concerns me about them is that their two main RB's never leave the field, since they also play defense. Rattlerbacker, was that just for this game or does SM play alot of kids both ways?

Apparently Jamal Robinson will be the main man at RB now. He has alot of speed and quicks himself, but does anyone know if he'll be playing both ways full time now?

I was able to come home and watch a JV game during Hurricane Rita - is Jamal Robinson the back they had on JV or a backup to Henry? If it wasn't the kid on JV, Clemens is loaded at that position. That kid on JV was awesome. It's a shame to see Henry get hurt like that - best wishes to him for a speedy recovery!

Well they will not know for absolutely sure until tommorrow but if it is the biggest bone in the human body you are right he is out for the season and then some. He better thank the Lord that traction is not the ony solution anymore. He will have a rod and a pin if his femur is broken .

It was announced over the PA as the Fibula, not the Femur. He went into the locker room, came back and spent the rest of the game on crutches.

I don't know, but I'll tell you this, he is one hell of an athlete! If anybody can go both ways, it's him! I sat next to his dad tonight and let me tell you that young man and his family are awesome! Jamal is simply unbeleivable. I truly beleive this young man can play either D1 football or basketball!

Robinson is a two year starter at CB and Henry's main backup on varsity, so no, he isn't the JV guy you speak of. Perhaps he'll be brought up now to give Robinson some help. I've never seen the JV guy, but I've heard he's pretty good, too.

No, Jamal was an all-district DB last year and an all-district point guard on the Basketball team last year! He also returned an INT this eveing right after James went down. He is probably the best athlete on the team and a great kid to boot! Clemens has a lot to be proud of with the young men who represent our school!!!!

Pretty scary to know that we have more HORSES in the stable, isn't it? I'll tell you this, there are a couple of backs right now on varsity that can get it done! They are not James Henry, but they could start for a heck of a lot of teams out there!

True, but I was just hoping that James will be able to make an easier, but full recovery before he takes the next step in his career. At this point, all that matters is we appreciate everything he's done for the Buffs and hopefully he recovers fully as he resumes his career at OU...or UT as he's mentioned again this week that he will visit there again.

He'll make a full recovery, count on it! Lets just pray tonight that it is not broke. He said on the 10:00 news that it will be x-rayed tomorrow at 9:00am and they will know for sure.

Whatever the outcome he has already done this town proud by the way he has carried himself and will continue to do so in the future. He has the talent to play on Sundays, good Lord willing.

You can take an average back with a GREAT line and make him look awesome. Sounds like Clemens has both a great line and depth in the backfield. Hopefully they have another CB that can play as well as Jamal Robinson.

They are just flat out SOLID at all positions. They faced a very good offense tonight and got some stops in the second half when they neede to. We only had the ball about 6 minutes in the first half and still had a 21-10 lead at the half, that says a lot about what kind of team we have! Our offense moved the ball in the second half and had two good TD drives without James in there. Our QB is starting to really play good. He is also an outstanding athlete!

I thought i heard femur?? If the break is not bad he could come back from that injury. The fibula is right behind the tibia and it is not near as important as the tibia!! You can function on a slightly broken fibula.

That's awesome! Far from the days in the mid 80s (4a) when 7 - 8 guys went both ways - one key injury could end the season. It's great to see the winning tradition continue!

That was a great game by both teams. Every player that was on that field tonight should hold their heads high because that was a battle from start to finish. San Marcos made too many mistakes but Clemens played great and took utmost advantage of every opportunity. I would love to see a rematch in the playoffs and I think thats a real possibility.

Congratulations to Clemens and best wishes to Mr. Henry for a quick and full recovery.

I don't want to see a matchup again this year. Like I've said before, it is very hard to beat a great team twice in the same year, and SM has a great team! Both teams left it all on the field tonight. They have to be drained right now. SM's offense is awesome. You guys put up just 2 less points tonight than our D has given up all year! Jamal Robinson (#32) is a pretty good player, wouldn't you say. That INT return for the TD and his long TD run in the 4th were the difference in this game!

Didn't Robinson run the kickoff back for a TD as well? He was super. Our Kyle Smith and Jordan Walker had pretty good games themselves. Thats not even mentioning all the hitting going on in the trenches. They'll all have black and blue marks after tonight.

No, the KO return was Reynolds, who also plays safety and some WR. Ironically, he was filling in for Henry at deep KR next to Robinson. And the kicker kept it away from the deep men every time except that one...because he kicked it from the Clemens 45 after the penalty. Weird stuff.

The two players who shined most to me were Smith and Robinson. I'd only read blurbs about Smith, but the guy is simply amazing. Nice blend of speed and power. And I'd seen Robinson do some great stuff this season, but seeing him separate from Walker on the TD run gave me a clearer idea of how much speed he actually has.

Congratulations Buff fans! Your boys played their butts off in a tough situation with Henry going down like that. We are all very sorry about his injury :( We were simply "out jocked" yall had more horses in the stable and got the job done. I am encouraged by the circumstances however. We gave up 21 points on errors and dominated time of possession. I like our chances in the playoffs and we certainly wouldn't mind playing you guys again ;) . I want to thank one of you buff fans for taking on madfan for us last week. I was tempted to respond but you did such a great job that I just smiled and scrolled on. I noticed that your fans have a lot of class. I guess that class is easy when you win as much as you guys do :p . That game last night (minus the horrible injury)was what high school football is all about! We had the momentum after the HUGE 4th down play and recovering the turnover and never capitalized (21-18 at that point). Against a great team like yall, that had to be the moment to make it happen. The playoffs are going to interesting! My Rattler is laying in bed getting the last few minutes of sleep before he must get up and go watch the film of the game that cost them district. But amazingly the sun still came up this morning. :o

As far as Jamal goes, he is a STUD! Go watch him during basketball, he makes every player on the court look slow!

Your Rattler and the rest are a tough bunch! They were outmanned a little last night but that didn't stop them from playing a great game. Tell that young man when he gets up, that they have a few games left to be played this year! SM's offense is tremendous.... The injury was huge, but James and the team will recover! You are exactly right, last night was Texas HS football!!!

Yes, the sun does still rise regardless of "life or death" Friday nights! :D
Tell your Rattler to hold his head high. They done real good and made it fun to watch.

The SM/SC matchup has become quite a nice series of games and last night was definitely the most powerful SM offense to date. I can see how the SM formula has been so effective this year. Work your way down the field, kill the clock, limit opponent's possessions, get ahead and kill the clock some more.

IMO, the only thing that can throw a monkey wrench into that strategy is what happened last night...run into a team with big play ability that stays ahead on the scoreboard. In fact, that's pretty much been the deciding factor in the SM/SC series. The difference in team speed that turns into big plays for SC. Last night SM did a great job of dominating time of possession. But when they did let SC have the ball, the yardage came quickly and in big chunks. Check out these rushing stats from last night that pretty much sum it up:

SM...285 yards on 63carries...4.5 ypc
SC...218 yards on 24carries...9.1 ypc

If SM can limit big plays on defense and special teams, they can definitely go a long way in the playoffs this year. How about we agree now to meet again for the Region 4 crown? :)

SM did play a great game last night! Your offense was very, very tough and controlled the clock for almost the entire first half! If our defense had not stepped it up in the second half we could have easily lost the game. SM is a tough team and will do very well in the playoffs! Good luck to the Rattlers.

What would you call SM? They beat your 26-5a leader that beat your Rockets Friday night! Yes, I will agree that it will make it harder against a top ten team in the state (I forgot, we are a top ten team) LOL, but these kids are tough and ready! And yes we do have a few horses in the stable ready to run. The fact is, if you have a good enough offensive line, you can insert an average running back and make him a great running back. For pete's sake Lonny, you of all people should know that!

If and when we beat your 26-5a teams, are you going to pull for SC, SM, Seguin or not?

Congrats on a great win..Buffs. Hopefully the injury to Henry isnt as bad as it appeared. Without offending anyone....I think the new guy will fill in just fine. Henry is good but sometimes it takes a little adversity for a team to buckle down and play better then the have been playing.. Good luck in the playoffs
