Did Clemens RB get hurt in their game with San Marcos?

James Henry has a broken fibula. He was chop blocked and then the SM players jumped up and down around him taunting him while he was down. He is out for the year.

It was definately a chop block near the line of scrimmage that caused the injury! I can't say if the SM players were jumping up and down or not because I did not see it as it was on the other side of the field from the home side! I would hope that this is not true and that if they were hopping up and down they were just celebrating a good run for a first down and not that James was down!

you could be right but from the Clemens side it looked like they were pointing at him and taunting while he was down. I will say that I hope that it was not meant with malice and the SM players did come and speak to him at the end of the game.

I didn't see it happen at all and didn't even realize he was in on defense(it happened on the second play or so) until I saw it was him on the ground. I would doubt they were celebrating Henry being down. That would be highly unusual. They made a long run on the play and that's probably what they were jumping about. I didn't see it so I don't know.

rattlerbacker, did you see anything from your side?

Everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions. I have played with James from 7th grade up to this year too. Its uncertain if he broke it or not, I personally spoke with him and he said he doesnt think its broken so I can only hope for the best. But im so proud of the guys I play with. Any team could have given up when their best player went down but we stepped it up and came away with a big win. My prayers are with James and I wish him a speedy recovery, regardless the outcome of the x-ray. We'll know tomorrow and Ill be able to tell yall for sure. GO BUFFS!!!! :D

It was not a chop block or any block. It happened right near the sideline right in front of where I was sitting. He tried to grab our runner from the side and got turned around and someone rolled up on him from behind.......probably a Clemens player that had been blocked but I'm not positive because I was following the play and didn't think anything about it when he went down. I'm not sure anyone even realized he was hurt immediately because the play went for another 12-15 yards downfield. The San Marcos players were celebrating making the first down, they weren't even around him they were further downfield. Our trainer was the first one to him and it wasn't until he got on the field that anyone realized he was hurt. Its terrible that he got hurt and I hope he recovers quickly but y'all need to realize that it was not in any way intentional.

I agree that it was not intentional. But, they showed the play (which was just one of many good plays SM had tonight) on the 10:00 news and it was no doubt a SM player and it sure looked like a legal chop block near the line of scrimmage. I don't beleive for a second that SM would ever try and intentionally try and take out any player. It was just an unfortunate injury that happened in a very toughly played ball game. I never would have beleived that SM would have put up 24 on our defense. And if anyone would have told me that we would score 34 tonight (27 without James in the game) I would have called them competely crazy

Great game tonight between two damn good teams!

The Rattlers without a doubt have an outstanding team!

I can't imagine anyone who would gloat about an injury and our kids certainly wouldn't do it. The play happened right in front of our bench and our coaches and, like I said, no one really realized he was hurt until the trainer ran out on the field. Everyone was caught up in the play, which had gone by where he was lying on the downslope of the crown. He just went down on the play, there wasn't anything to indicate any kind of injury. At first I thought he had the air knocked out of him or a cramp or something.

your are liar...our players didnt jump and down and taunt him like u said..if u wanna talk about taunting and cheating then u need to take a look at #51 and# 55 on your team before u go and accuse us of that crap...our kids are well discipline and doesnt play that way...those numbers i mentioned were taunting our sidelines all night and the ref wouldnt do anything about it...plus on that outside play where your guys tackled our RB out of bounds but still continued to shove him down after the whistle blew not to mention the kickoff return were your guys kept shoving him after the whistle blew but the hometown refs wouldnt call the flag...if u wanna talk about this stuff then u need to take a look at your own players first...i congratulate clemens on a good win but if u guys are gonna play dirty like that then i dont see you going far in the playoffs

What's the difference between a legal and illegal chop block? Or are chop blocks all legal?

Don't even start talkin about unfair penalties. We had more on our side than yall did and the refs did a piss poor job of spotting the ball. There were mistakes and taunting on both teams. Aside from that it was a great game and San Marcos has an incredible team that has a bright future. And I agree with you that it was a fair chop block and i dont know why rattler players would taunt an injured player. Just an unfotunate event.

That's what usually happens when two evenly matched, high powered teams go at it. Both give each other some "extras". It's unfortunate that Henry got hurt, but it could happen in any game at any time to any player - thats the nature of contact sports. You have an excellent football program - good luck and represent 25-5.

I think you can see most of us were shocked at the thought of gloating by any team over an injury. We speculated that it was a celebration of the big run and admitted it was too far from us to be sure, or that we didn't see it. So we asked rattlerbacker for the scoop. We're obviously glad there was no injury gloating because we didn't want to believe SM, anyone else, would do that.

As for the other things you mentioned, I saw most of those, but I saw several of those things in reverse on our sideline as well. I don't want to go into detail because I didn't think it was anything other than two teams really amped up over a huge game. Two teams with total focus on physical, aggresive play and a really loud crowd pumping them up even more. I attribute those incidents to that and not really deserving of penalties. The personal fouls that were called were enough to keep things under control.

I think these two teams have developed a really nice rivalry the last few years. A hard, but clean, respectful rivalry. How about we don't let this deteriorate into a "how about the play where..." or "what about that guy who..."? We'll be here all weekend with that junk and we'll dishonor the players' efforts tonight. The Henry injury was significant and there was a question about it, which the well respected rattlerbacker answered.

Ex Buff speaks the truth as well. Both teams wanted this game badly and they played their hearts out. Its a shame Henry got hurt but it wasn't intentional. Both teams were giving everything they could get away with. #51 seemed particularly obnoxious to our side because he kept making taunting gestures either to our sideline or fans or both. The refs finally popped him for 15 in the second half and he calmed his act down quite a bit after that. Frankly, given the hype for this game and what was at stake I thought it was played pretty cleanly by two very talented and proud teams.

I'm particularly proud of the San Marcos offensive line, they did a great job. You didn't hear the Clemens defensive linemen being called for making very many tackles and they didn't get in the backfield very often.

Good luck to the Buffs and may both teams represent 25 well in the playoffs.

There was taunting going on out there on both sides, so just chill out! After hearing rattlerbacker's statemetn I have absolutely no doubt that SM did not taunt James when he went down. These kids for both teams left it on the field last night. If I remember correctly, we were hit with 3 - 15 yarders and I cannot remember the last time we were had more than 1 of those in a game. I'm sure coach Ferrara and Hoffman will address that to the players that committed those penalties this morning! Hometown refs, give me a break! I saw at least two spots on our side of the field that gave SM 1st downs and one would have set up at least a 4th and 1!!! Also, if you couldn't hear the booing (impossible unless you are deaf) on that pass play you guys had in the fourth quarter, it was because you're O-line had not one but two obvious holds on the play. One hold was right in front of the QB and the ref that allowed your QB to throw the ball away instead of taking a 15 yard loss on a sack! So, all I'm stating is there were plenty of bad calls both way in this one (no different then any HS game) that went both ways and bottom line is that the calls on the field had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

As far as us playing dirty, you can stick that where the sun never shines because it's BIG TIME BS!!!!!!!

I've never seen #51 taunt before, only get fired up when they make a play. I'm not trying to make any excuse whatsoever, but he was probably just a little over pumped for this big game. I'll assure you this, if the coaches know about it, he will get a royal A$$ chewing this morning!

As far as being proud of your O-Line, you ought to be! They did a great job of blocking their assignments against a hell of a D-line. I think we only had two three tackles for loss last night and that is unheard of for this years team! If they play like that in the playoffs, SM will make some people cry!!!

Congratulations to SM for scaring the crap out of us last night. That was one hell of a game!

I totally agree with "Go Buffs". Lets not trivialize such an outstanding memorable HS football game with recalling the negatives. Both teams deserve everything good being said about them right now. They both have put Central Texas Football in front of the entire state of Texas that seem to be partial to Houston and Dallas area football. It was an incredible electric atmosphere last night. We will never forget it. But look out Clemens, you have become San Marcos's new Hays and Westlake. They will be amped major time for the rematch whether it's in the playoffs or next year.

This guy has no clue on the entire HS scene. All he does is bad mouth anyone and everyone every chance he gets! I person like that has no place on this board or any other for that matter. I respect anyone and everyone that supports their respective team but if all you can do is talk down on other teams, then get off this board!

I have total respect for the Rangers program and what they have done in the last 10 years, and beleive that I have shown that respect here even when responding to a person like that. I know a lot of people that are SV fans, and none of them talk and act like this guy does! They respect other teams and their fans just like their players do and that is what has made them what they are on the football field!

That is a hard one to swallow. But, this young will recover and the Buffs will not look back. We'll just have to wait until next year to watch him play again. This type of injury happens to quite a few kids every year and they don't get a chance to play the game again after HS. This will clearly not be the case for him. He still has a bright future awaiting him, and all in all, this is just a bump in the road that he will have to navigate on the way!

God bless James Henry, get well soon!
