View Full Version : 2008 Super Bracket Madness *State Championship Voting OPEN*

Head on over the the 2008 Super Bracket message board to start voting on each match up.

We'll kinda play each round by ear depending on participation and time. I'll keep Round 1 open for voting for at least a week, though.

A few other notes:

1. Try and vote on ALL the matchups and not just your teams matchup. Otherwise, it kind of kills the fun of the feature.

2. Pretend all the teams have 100% health.

3. For games that you really aren't sure about, take the time to look at the schedules/statistical matchups for each. After reading up on the results from '07, along with taking in the '08 Players to Watch List when it comes out, you'll have a good jump on being a 5A guru for '08.

4. The notable omission is Converse Judson as they qualified 4th out of 26-5A. A terrible endorsement for the Super Bracket, I know. I don't anticipate that sort of scenario, a 4th place qualifier, being able to make that sort of run through the playoffs very often. It was a good indication of the strength of 26-5A in '07.

5. Let's have fun with it, feel free to discuss each matchup in their poll threads. At the least, this should give us something else to do and talk about during these loooooong days of the offseason. As well as something else to help increase those post counts!

Let me know about any errors you find, so I can fix them. This was just one of many things I've been working on, so I'm sure a few errors are present somewhere.

Were they supposed to based on the old districts?

Permian and Lee are now 2-5A....

Yeah, pre-realignment. The idea is to go back to just after Week 10 of the regular season, put the teams into the playoffs based on this format and go from there.

Permian was the district champion in district 3 in 2007, so shouldn't they have a first round bye in the Super Bracket?

You have Permian listed as the 3rd place team in district 1.

EP Coronado ended up tied with Franklin for 2nd place in district 1, but Coronado beat Franklin, so the district 1 vs. district 2 matchups should be:

Monterey (dist. 2, 2nd place) vs. EP Franklin (dist 1, 3rd place)
Amarillo (dist 2, 3rd place) vs. EP Coronado (dist 1, 2nd place)

Typo...I had Permian with a bye and in the 1st Round...Good catch...That's supposed to be Lubbock Coronado (3rd place qualifier from district 1)...I put the 1st place in District 3, had them flipped...making the changes right now.

It still isn't quite right. EP Coronado and EP Franklin both had 6-2 district records

EP Coronado beat EP Franklin 21-20 in the final regular season game, so the district standings for 2007 were:

1. EP Montwood
2. EP Coronado
3. EP Franklin

Sooo, EP Coronado should face Amarillo (3rd place district 2) and EP Franklin should face Lubbock Monterey (2nd place district 2)

I'm closing down the voting for the 1st Round at some point this evening. So, for those that haven't voted, go and do so now...there are a few close matchups where 5 votes here and there would change the outcome.

For those that have already participated, thanks. I'm going to open up the 2nd round for voting soon after shutting the 1st round down this evening.

The 2nd Round should be fun because there are a lot of salty, tight matchups. The "big boys" enter the picture coming off a bye week. I, for one, will be very interested to see who comes out on top.

I forgot to mention, in the event of a tie (currently we have RR Stony Point and Klein Oak tied at 13 votes each), the district winner will move on. Obviously this won't be the tiebreaker in the next round b/c you'll have two district winners facing each other in many cases. We'll figure out another tiebreaker, if it comes up, for the following rounds.

I've generally been giving about a week per round. I'll probably let the voting go through Fri. and then move it on to the 5th round.

Avatars will most probably return when we switch to the updated message board. It looks like that could happen before the end of the month.

Okay, this time I'm a few days late, but it looks like we picked up many more votes than usual as well as convo. (I had a feeling the Katy/Cy Falls game would draw some convo:D)
