I know there are some Tulsa fans here....
Damaris Johnson from Destrehan High here.....
4 star and #11 ranked recruit here in Louisiana this year-#28 ranked "Athlete" in the nation...
This kid will put on 15-20 lbs and be another Darius Reynaud type(West Virginia)....I'm glad to see him go to Tulsa and not Minnesota....Looks like the only 4 star for Tulsa(that's gotta be huge for them)...In Tulsa's offense Johnson gonna be hard to deal with...Kid can play and put on a show in the SuperDome in the 5A Title game this past year....

Very nice pick up.
I think so too....
Damaris Johnson can do alot for Tulsa....Return punts and kicks, play alittle RB, or line him out in the slot/wide....Perfect fit for him and Tulsa...
Guess I gotta follow Tulsa alittle now and see how he does-wish him the best there...

Looking at Tulsa's recruiting effort so far they have gone after and picked up some pretty good skill people this year....
Tulsa one of those schools on the move....

To be honest I was really hoping LSU would save room for Johnson and LaRon Byrd (Hahnville) who just signed with Miami-FL (like they need him)...LSU never offered either one...
Hate to see that, but that's how it works sometimes...
LaRon Byrd is a player too....River Parish kids always do well on the next level...Don't guess Les knows this yet....

http://rivals100.rivals.com/viewprospect.asp?pr_key=60330&Sport=1All I'll say is there's a George Strait song that speaks my feelings well at this time!:D
And truth be told, I'd hate ever last college I hate right now if Texas Tech had signed every recruit they wanted that will go someplace else. I just despise the schools and coaching staffs at all those locations. There were already plenty that I didn't like who haven't been in a war with Tech for any recruits this year.

Recruiting is a war and sometimes there are casualties....
Kids change their minds...
Not enough space...
Grades/qualifying
OR, any number of things...
Texas Tech still gonna be playing ball-ease up....

The head coach at Tulsa left dragonsdaddy's alma mater high and dry last year the day after he signed a new contract.
That's why I made the comment about the Tulsa coaching staff being on the move because he's going to stiff them the first chance he gets at a better job for more money.
My gripe is that Tulsa bailed on Tech less than a year out from the 08 season opener and paid their $150K, while Arky gave them $850K to play them instead. If Tulsa was getting $350K from Tech (I don't know the amount), they'll still make an extra $350K profit for stiffing a team that still doesn't have an opponent the first week.
Last week, the rumor was that a FCS series team in the West was trying to play Tech, but nothing is finalized. Today I heard a rumor of Tech playing LSU. Tech tried to get a FBS team, but nobody has stepped up so far.

Tech don't wanna play LSU, do they?...(lol)

I want Tech to play great teams so it can help us get better faster. I'll take 3-1 and maybe losing to LSU over 4-0 and playing scrubs in hopes that we could be 4-0 and beat LSU.

ok, enough of the Tulsa-hatin' Talk about getting left high and dry....
Every single good coach TU gets exits after a bowl game/Sweet Sixteen appearance for "GREENER" pastures, ie. More so bball than football, but most recently Kragthorpe to Kentucky...historically, Nolan Richardson leaves for Arkansas, Tubby Smith for Kentucky, BILL SELF!!!to Illinois/KU
It's a joke in the Tulsa area that TU is THE university to go to for a coach to prepare to win a national championship :puke So, Lonny, give 'em a break....no more whining about getting stiffed on your schedule. Do you have any idea how many other teams from the Big 12/Big 10 have done that to TULSA? It happens, get over it. If you want to hate TU (and DD-for you, too) , so be it. In fact, it's kind of cool for us Tulsa fans to hear that someone is even paying enough attention to what's going on at the school to throw some "hate " that way
At least Tech is able to get a coach, keep a coach and make some noise nationally without getting "raided" (pardon the pun) and looked down on because they can't get into a BCS conference.

From your Tulsa World....
"Damaris Johnson, WR, Norco (La.) Destrehan Height: 5-8 Weight: 170. Rivals rating: 4 stars Johnson may develop into a Conference USA freshman of the year candidate in TU's pass-happy offense. "
That would be cool in a homer way if it were to happen.....
I see him doing great things there, I really do.....
Kid can play....I know that much!

Nah, not much sprout left in him...:D
I wouldn't worry too much about that though...He'll put on 10 to 15 lbs easy...Darius Reynaud is 5-10.....
Those River Parish kids just do well....
Corey Webster, LaRon Landry come to mind along with Darius Reynaud at West Virginia, Ryan Perrilloux and so many more...(don't wanna be too big of a homer)...That's one of the tougher districts here and those kids play good competition every week(that helps I think)......Corey played at 2A St James.....Alot of talent in that area....
I'm not saying Johnson will be as good as those guys, but he's gonna get his name called out a few times at Tulsa if he makes the grades....
Good luck to him and Tulsa...

as soon as dbag leaves for bigger and dirtier surroundings, i'll immediately go back to thinking as much and as highly of tulsa as i did prior to db-exactly never, so don't be too concerned. til then, it is dbag central.
