Thanks Hunterbunter, that would actually make it more difficult. What I'm looking for is a thread with just the teams listed and the discussion to continue where it's at...I re-worded my post to more clearly define my intentions for this thread.

Midland High vs. DeSoto

Odessa High had Frenship and San Angelo had Big Spring as their non-district games but had to change when the
2-5A officials voted to start district play in week 1 and take a week off in week 4. No word on who OHS will play for non-district now.

We had 5 district games previously, and would take the "Open" date the week before opening district play.

With 10 teams/9 district games, the week prior to opening district play would be ...week ONE! So they are talking about scheduling it near the half-way point of district play.

Westlake Athletic Director/Head Coach Derek Long is quoted in our community paper as saying our nondistrict opponents will be Cedar Park Lake Travis and A & M Consolidated--but dates and locations have not yet been determined.

I've heard that Westfield's non-district schedule will be the same as last year, just dropping Clear Brook, since Dekaney will be playing varsity-ball next year.
So, it'd go:

Haven't gotten confirmation from anyone on this, but it would still be a solid slate. So, Westfield gets good tests and the recruiters get to see 3 top-notch teams square off (no knock on Memorial, considering how they outplayed Westfield last year).
And the chance to prove they're worthy of scholarships is the biggest thing a lot of these kids can get- a chance to be among the first in their families to go to college.

Cmon, it is the year 2008. You make it sound like their family members are poor indigents. I am all for scholarships for atheletes who deserve them, but their are many ways and many opportunities to go to college without an athletic scholarship. One way is to be in the top 10 in your class.
