The Chronicle has it online. Here are the 5A schools with their official enrollment numbers (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/hso/5507752.html).

ouch...Humble got hit hard by Atascoctia.

4,800 to 2338 in just two years. But January we had an enrollment of 2500. and with the slew of new neighborhoods being built...i expect 3,000 in the next 2-3 years. But it hasn't affected our basketball and Football programs, just our other sports like Baseball, Volleyball, swimming and softball...

It will be weird being the smallest school in our district after being one of the biggest for so long. But, Humble has always had a higher turn out for athletics then any of the aldine schools.

that was a big hit. And, what's up with Kingwood not being hit much at all by Kingwood Park? Favortism?

Did they end up zoning those neighborhoods right there at Wilson Rd and the Beltway to Humble HS? I know those people were wanting Atascocita...

West was 4156.5 two years ago. Now it's 4,229. That difference is somewhat less than a 1000.

You got it...Kingwood is their baby. Its where the money is, and the board...6 out of the 7 are Kingwood residents...We only have one person representing the Southern portion of the district. Im thinking about running myself....a vacancy was opened when one of the member recently passed away.

And yes, that neighborhood south of the Beltway and Wilson rd was sent to Atascocita and will soon be going to Summer Creek High school...But the neighborhoods north of the beltway and east of Sunset ridge will remain Humble HS.
Its gerrymandering...thats exactly what they did to Humble HS...almost all of Humble ISD low income families live in the Humble attendance zone. The school went from 35% economically disadvantaged to 50-60 in just two years. But High income homes are being built along the beltway on the northern side...if those are taken away...i will raise hell, and bring the proper attention to Humble ISD. Humble/atascocita/Summerwood are growing very fast.... If they dont mess with anything...all of the HS South of the river should be in the 3200 range in the next 5-7 years.

Yeah, I remember when I used to want to go to Humble HS back when I was in jr high. Now, LOL, not so much. I didn't know they were building another HS in summerwood. Does Humble ISD REALLY need yet another HS??

Really...not yet.

They could of left Humble with more students and waited another 2 or 3 years before building it... But its in the works....it opens in 2009-2010. Summerwood, and Fall creek will attend Summer Creek High.

Atascocita is expected to hit an enrollment of 6300 by 2012 if this HS isn't built.

But i think that they could of drained Atascocita of 800-1200 students and put them in Humble... would of saved them money and time.

Nothing wrong with Humble HS, the kids are just not living in big houses and all driving new cars

Yeah, Fall Creek is the one I was talking about being close to Humble HS.

But, Humble HS doesn't have their 9th grade center anymore, which I also thought was stupid of them.

I think its funny how 6 of the 8 teams in 22-4a have 3a numbers and some of them have no where even close to 4a numbers.

Neither does Kingwood, Now Kingwood Park. They built a second story on top of the old Humble High, to house the Freshman...Humble ISD is starting a "House" Program and it wouldn't work as well if they didn't have the Freshman on campus

Yeah I know about that program. I guess that's a good system. Sounds Harry Potter to me.

Interesting... These are what were "supposely" sent in to UIL as the actual numbers haven't been posted either on UIL or TEA sites.:D

Those numbers have at least two inaccuracies: Garland Lakeview and La Joya Palmview are both under 2085 but neither are in the opt up list.

And Kingwood was not hit as hard because KP was designed to be a 4A high school. The campus was originally a freshman center for 1000 students or less and with an expansion its supposed to fit 1600. With the addition of HISD Learning Cottages (or "portables," as they're known in the rest of the world), we may see KP go 5A soon here as Kingwood is just huge and I don't think they want it to get any bigger.

I've visited Atascocita and that school is just huge. The "house" system sounds just crazy, there is no way I would want to attend any school using that system.

Are you saying you know better than the Houston paper? They say that Lakeview was eight over the cutoff.

Whoops!

I thought I read 2083...

I guess Homer did it legitamitely...I kept hearing everywhere that LC and SG had turned in 4A numbers and HBJ was going to have to work the UIL to get them up.

I guess mine eyes deceived me with all of the talk.

It still doesn't explain LJ Palmview though...unless that is a 9-11 number they have posted and the real number is closer to 3k.

The house system is already in place at Atascocita and Kingwood...but they are struggling to get it done at Humble. Its just not a good system and will be abandoned soon. it seems anti-social...

You could be very right about Kingwood. but Kingwood is experiencing very little growth...just steady. But HISD may seek to make their schools from 2400-2800...and the only way to do that is to make Kingwood ISD bigger and build a new HS...otherwise their little House system wont work..

If the cards fall right, Abilene could see themselves in D1.

Being number five of six, looks like SLC will be in D2 for the next couple of years.

The Houston Comical is well known for inaccuracies. I would not take their numbers as absolute.
