As a Jesuit supporter, I was surprised to see Jesuit put in a district with the largest 5A schools in the state in the three Plano schools and Allen. Jesuit has about 1,030 boys, which would be 2,060 for UIL enrollment purposes. I believe all four of the schools mentioned have enrollments of well over 4,000. Someone even told me that two are over 5,000. The difference in the number of students is scary to even think about. I don't know much about Wylie and McKinney Boyd, but I know both were playoff teams last season. In fact, six of the teams in the new 8-5A made the playoffs in football this past season. That's impressive.

I had heard Jesuit would join up with the DISD and RISD schools, but it seems the UIL brains thought Carrollton Creekview was closer that Jesuit, which is not true.

I know Jesuit's administration won't complain or appeal, but it does seem odd to me.

I also heard Jesuit is now playing Hebron and South Garland in non-district. Add the schools they were already playing (Coppell & Bishop Lynch), and that is one challenging schedule. I think 8 of the 10 schools made the playoffs (6 UIL 5A, 1 UIL 4A, and 1 TAPPS) in 2007. Good luck to the Rangers. I hope they can compete in this new district, not only in football but also in the other sports.

the 11 on the field will be only part of the problem. home games against allen will be tricky, as the allen band will take up any/all of the stands, on both sides. i am glad not to have to try to attend such madhouse affairs.

haha i never got why allens bands was so huge and east, skyline's, and plano's weren't. i also wondered how plano, a school with a massive enrollment only dressed 38 seniors with no cuts.

Very simple why only 38 seniors dress. The offseason is brutal year in and year out and it is very competitive for positions. You really must be dedicated to stay in the program especially if you know your playing time is going to be limited.

I know in the past coaches sit down with every player after spring ball and gives an honest evaluation of their position on the team and where they stand going into the fall and sometimes the players decide to not play

Plus their is many options for athletes to play other than traditional sports. you have hockey and lacrosse that also takes some athletes away.

with only 22 spots on the field, and some talented underclassmen always taking a few of those, i don't see what is odd about having "only" 38 srs. the tradition took a hit a couple of years ago, but it appears to be well on it's way back. i'm pretty sure that #'s 39-60 don't make a lot of difference on the bottom line for any team that has them.
