The Aldine Mac game was a classic, we scored the go ahead TD with .19 left and almost gave it up on a kickoff return to Mac's Delbert Garner. The 93 Generals had more sophmore starters than any team i have ever seen advance to a state title game, with Bob Alpert as their coach I am shocked he never got them back to the title game.
Between 93 Lewisville/Mac and 95 Judson/Permian, I dont know which game I would say was the better game, I was at both and remember how electric the 95 game was between Judson and Permian, but also remember how 15,000 from Lewisville traveled to the astrodome in anticipation of our 1st state title.
Still wish we could have had a shot at you all in 93, between our two teams, the 93 team was loaded with talent top to bottom and would have been a much better game than Plano gave yall.

That Periman game was one for the books (how about another movie) from the game to the fans, and that interception that won the game for us was a heart stopper. It seems that when we play the little southwest conference teams it is going to be a nail bitter, lucky when won those battles. I think the average margin was under 3 points.

I think the title game loss to Katy taught the SLC teams a lot more than if they had won that game. I watched the Lufkin, Abilene, and SV games where the Dragons had to show a strength of character to win those games. Trinity has played well but has not been tested by a team that can score faster than they can. They did have to come back from being down 14. Very good overview. We all know what SLC can do and SLC definitely has what it rakes to win State again. The jury is still out on Trinity - they have 3 difficult district games remaining. Despite all the trash talk from ET fans - the last thing they want is to meet SLC in the first round of the play-offs.

This thread (original post) is ridiculous. We've had this in other threads to. Is it that hard for people to believe that they might actually both be really good? Some clear "vendetta" posts going on lately. We've had people from various reaches of the state all taking cheap shots at SLC this year.

I'm waiting on our Valley and El Paso reps to get here and talk about how they'd destroy a program that's won nearly every game they've played in the four years. I think those are about the only ones who haven't weighed in on the subject

I realize that SLC's schedule so far wouldn't be near the top of any "who have you played?" lists but it should be noted that their last 3 opponents had a combined record of 13-2 before they played SLC. SLC won the three games by an average score of 56-12 with a victory margin of 44 points.

Trinity's last three opponents had a combined record of 5-10 before they played Trinity. Trinity won the three games by almost an identical average score of 55-12 with a victory margin of 43 points.

We are not the team we were last year... but it is a fact, no 5a team other than SLC has ever topped us...
Plus when we move back down, it will give all of the 5a schools we have beaten a chance to excel in their classification!! :eek:

For you information. A Dragon Wagon refers to the SUV's that the families in Southlake use to travel to all the away games. These are easily identifed because of the Dragon Logo on them.

The Fans of the Dragons are refered collectivily as the Dragon Nation.

You will find that the SLC posters are not "Jonny come Lately", or "jump on the SLC wagon" type of posters. Most of us have been on this board for many years and have enjoyed hearing how SLC is not that good because "SLC has not seen a (defense, offense, team, etc) like (name your team) before." I admire the newbys who want to poster on this board about how their team will just clean the floors with SLC. Back in 2002 the Dragon Nation knew we had a good team but nobody else would give us any respect. Now we are the defending Champions and have won more games in the last 3 1/2 years than ANY 5A school in Texas. SLC has taken the shots from the best of the best in Texas and survived all but 1. SLC has done it with 4 different teams who had contributers with mind blowing numbers and a team first attitiude that starts in the middle schools.

If you think your school can beat the Dragons then I hope you get your wish to play them. The Dragons have taken on all who wanted a piece of them and has a combined 54-1 record, a 37 regular game winning streak, A 23 consecative game winning streak, a 6 game playoff winning streak. If anything the SLC supporters have earned the right to say that they would "hand (fill in the teams) butt to them on a plater", however the true meaning of a champion is to win and lose with great sportmanship and spirit.

Fans can and should defend their programs, but not by trying to post enflamitory remarks to downplay another teams accomplishments. Let the teams show the rest of the state what they can do. If you are right then it will happen, if you are wrong, then crow is a bitter meat to eat!

SLC has won more games than any team in Texas over the last 20 years.

SLC has averaged 3.9 games deep in the play-offs every year for the last 20 years and has won more play-off games than anyone over that period.

SLC has the Texas all timee regular season winning steak - 72 games (I remember the other team chanting "we beat the streak, we beat the streak, we beat the streak" as they drove away in their buses from old Dragon Stadium after game 73).

I was at the game when Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin came to watch that great little 3A team win. They stood on the sideline for about 40 minutes before they left.

I remember all of the crap that SLC had to take back then when our 5A neighbors constantly said "You are not that great. You don't play anybody." Now that we are playing the best of the best we have the same results as we had back then.

Now . . . I feel so much better about myself.

That was the game that sold me on ya'll, and i even came back to be a man and take back all the negative I had said about Carroll, since then the Carroll fans and I have gotten along about 99.9% of the time.
Yall were the 1st visiting team to come into Goldsmith and put 50 on us, it also marked the largest margin of defeat we had ever suffered at home.

we also lost two great backs in FB Chris Johnson and his brother RB Christian Johnson when their mom all the sudden decided to take them out of school and move them to Temple. We had talent, but no heart that year, and yall exposed it when going up quickly 14-0 and then all the sudden Famer Pride was no where to be found.

If you go back and watch the video of that game you will see that throughout the game the Lewisville Farmers made a lot of plays. I also remember your coach taking a penalty on third down to put us out of field goal range and then we scored a touchdown on the next play.

I haven't even read any of the posts on the rest of this thread but I figured I'd throw in my 2 cents. Euless Trinity is the biggest, fastest team I've seen in years. They play well disciplined and honestly I think they are the best team in the state. What do i base this on? I've seen both play and against the same opponent. In zero week when SLC played Mid. LEE I just wasn't all that impressed with the dragons. They are a solid team but definately not like the team I saw last year. All around they have good athletes and playmakers but just not of the same caliber as the Nat. Champs. On the other hand Euless Trinity was jaw dropping from the kickoff. The overall team speed was nuts. One of the fastest teams all around that I have ever seen. Dimitri Nance is about as good as you can get for a highschool runningback and that is before his massive line opens up enormous holes. Even if his line was not very good he would still be highly thought of and maybe even more because of more oppurtunities to make people miss instead of just runnin by em. Defense is stingy and they swarm. I don't think there are more than a few solo tackles in a Trinity game. Once I saw them I knew I was watching the best team in the state. Same thing I knew when SLC whooped up on Mid. LEE last year at the Alamodome. Sometimes you can just tell teams have IT and this year Euless Trinity does! :)

I'll add to that by saying that the Euless line is huge -- I got a chance to visit with one of the Defensive Linemen from Lee and he pointed that out. He thought that Trininty's O line was more athletic and bigger than the Southlake edition. It's my opinion that if your going to beat Southlake. Their offense has to be kept on the sideline. With the running game and o line that Trinity has. I feel that they have the goods to get it done. If they run like they have this year they'll win the TOP and keep the Southlake Offense on the sidelines.

I'm not taking anything away from Southlake, I'm just offering up my opinion. Afterall, that's why they play the game. Good luck to both teams - and let's hope we get to see them play.

I am not saying your opinion is wrong, but it took a couple weeks before SLC really hit their stride, offensively and defensively. Since the district opener they haven't missed a beat. But Trinity is no one to mess with.

I can only imagine the competitiveness of this game. The aerial assault of SLC vs. the tremendous running backs of ET. I don't know about ET's defense, but I'd imagine SLC would be decent at stopping the ET running game. Well, slowing it down some. the dragons have been good against the run this year (after picking up patterns and techniques after the first quarter at least) I haven't really heard about the ET Defense. I'm going to assume that the D-line is big and the LBs are strong. Only problem I can see is the speed of the DBs. They're going to need to be really quick to keep up with possibly the best receiving corps in the state (not to mention the depth at WR). I'd say the whole game depends on who shows up better prepared at the game. Until then: happy footballing

SLC didn't seem to have everything together until the herritage game, they've been on fire since then. Trinity has to play better than they did against bell if they want to take Carroll out, but it seems they are back on track with a big win against irving. I was a little worried about them playing SGP, but after there loss to irv mac i don't see them being much of a threat. The Trojans are a lot more focused on the warriors and cardinals right now than the "possible" play off opponents. How about we wait for GV to beat herritage b4 we start the trash talk.
