New varsity program starting this year. They destroyed (embarassed) all the jv programs in district and ran all over some 3A and 4A varsity teams this past year. What can they expect this Fall?

It will be interesting how they will perform with the rest of 17-5A. Will they be competitive or bottom dwellers? Which 17-5A teams do they take athletes away from?

Cy-Fair and Cy-Falls, probably some other schools too.
I think they'll be competitive and I'm pretty sure they'll make the playoffs.

I forget what their record was this past year, but they blew some decent teams completely off the field.

Maybe one of the Cy-Woods posters can come up with their schedule along with the scores attached.

But those kids started there 2 years ago so they won't get the athletes that Falls and Fair currently have. Also, Falls is getting back a couple of good neighborhoods this year that were taken away so all should be good on Huffmeister Road! I had heard from some Woods parents that they weren't too happy that Cy Ranch will now be taking away a lot of THEIR kids when they open in September.

Woods will do well next year though...at least until Ranch goes varsity. They seem to have a good start having beat a couple of 3a and 4a teams along the way and every JV team they played if I'm remembering correctly - and by a LOT of points too.

So does that make nine schools in CFISD?

With the opening of Cy Lakes and Cy Ranch this September - 10 schools. But those two won't be varsity football for 2 more years. Woods is going varsity this year.

I know alot of people are anxious to see what comes out of the UIL redistricting this year, but it will quite interesting to see what happens to CFISD in 2 years when the new schools start varsity.

So what about this next year? How does Woods perform against the rest of the district's varsity programs? I know I see alot of Woods window stickers on vehicles around here where as most schools do not have those until varsity. Should be interesting.

I think CyWoods begins a series with Falls similarly to how Katy has a series with Mayde Creek!!:p:notworthy

Look out Falls, Mayde Creek hasn't beaten Katy in 20 tries.

TBF explosion in...to late quick fuse!:outlaw

I don't know - I think Woods may have a better program than MC right out the door so I'm thinking they will be tough on many of the 17-5a teams but I don't see them winning district outright or anything. If they do, they sure as heck will have deserved it but they are playing real 5a varsity. I do think they will be in the playoffs though. Ridge was their first year and I don't think they were as good as the time as Woods will be.

There does seem to be a large support group for the kids. The coaching staff in my opinion has done a great job working with the kids over the last 2 years. Our guys have had an advantage in the fact that they have been coached at a varsity level during this time. I believe that they will a good representative in an already competitive district. I will make no predictions on where they might rank, but I do believe they will make the playoffs. My inside informative tells me we play Cy-Ridge for the first district game and Cy-Falls for the last district game. We shall see how we fare early on against Cy-Ridge.

Any word on pre district play?

Once we hit the 10 school plateau..maybe we can start to ballance out a bit in athletics. I just can't see the district going to 11 or 12 schools. They've gotta be knocking on Waller's back door by now as it is.

Seems as though they just built that new mall out in Fairfield. That'll probably sprout another 15-20 (or more) new neighborhoods in the Fairfield area alone. Lordy!.. Somebody stop the madness!! Our district density chart is growing like a weed!

I'm not too confident it will be slowing down any time soon. When you drive around the area, just look at all the vacant land just waiting for neighborhoods to be built. From what I understand though is that for the older schools (Fair, JV, Creek, Falls) the density is pretty well to the point where there won't be major shifts of neighborhoods' attendence for those schools. Guess we'll have to find something else to complain about then.;)

hmmm scoring lots of points seems to be the norm in the cy fair district... it'll be a lot different than playing other JV teams and 3A teams, a school that just left yalls district did very well the first year in 5A (strake jesuit) so you never know, also is cy woods possibly where the old Ike coach went? so if someone knows who the head coach is that'd be awesome
