Is Laredo LBJ that bad? Judson beat Nixon 63-13 in week 0. Has Nixon improved that much? They are also 4-0 in district, 5-2 overall.

Maybe their district is weak?

How do you think they did it? They earned it the same way any team does when they come prepared to play and execute.

Their district is very weak. It's the worse district in the state.

I'd take 5-2 over 4-3 anyday. They'll have the last laugh. If we don't get it together we'll be watching them play in a month or so.

Nixon has continuously gotten better as the season has gone along. They are in a bad district, but their offense is real good and they have had 4 straight shutouts. They're almost at the point that I can see them maybe beating a San Antonio team in the playoffs in the right matchup.
You guys may have talked about this already and I'm too lazy to look it up, but when was the last time a RGV, El Paso or Larado team actually had a CHANCE of winning state?

Do you really beleive this could happen? I just don't see it unless they get a hold of a very average team from here and catch them on a bad night!

1961 when Donna did it in 2A! :D
The truth is those teams don't have enough speed to win state. They have effort, but lack the natural talent that all the title teams have. You don't have to have the best talent, but more than those teams can put out.

I'm not picking them, but they do have 3 advantages over the other Valley Schools:
They're faster than the other teams, but not as fast as the SA teams.
They play SA schools every year instead of whenever they meet in the playoffs.
When you get 3 rounds deep in the playoffs every year, you're going to be a little better than your other competition.
Nixon, CC Carroll and maybe somebody in 32 are the only teams that could ever hope to beat SA this year.

Nixon gave Marshall a game this season in wk 1 or 2.....Nixon aint bad, just Judson started out real strong and FIZZLED OUT, as for them being faster than lots of SouthTexas teams SoutH OF SA, NO THEYR'E not, but they just get after teams for all 4 Qts, they throw the ball like 60times a game and complete MORE than half of em...
truth is, Nixon is REAL small, they are NOT very athletic, they are'tn very fast either....BUT, they excecute and ARE VERY WELL COACHED!!!! if Nixon had HALF the talent SA Madison or Churchill had, I WOULD LOOK AT THEM AS A CONTENDER FOR STATE!!!!! I SAID HALF!!! Nixon's got more heart than MOST State Champion teams have COMBINED!!!!

You disappeared after you said Harlingen would put a licking on SA Reagan.....actually, a lot of teams that would have half of Madison or Churchill's talents would be pretty good...they got some talent there.

Come on people... Laredo's district sucks so bad that a 4A teams could beat them, maybe 3A teams too. Laredo Nixon beat other Laredo schools easy because there all not good but Laredo Nixon is between Sorry and Average comparing to all schools. I am sure the worst Laredo Team in District could not even beat our middle school team for sure.

The thing about Nixon is they give everything they have in every game. If all schools would do the same there wouldn't be enough gigabytes out there to allow us to post on this board. I love watching teams who sell out on every play. Even when they lose, they are the ones that make the game what it is. It's the under achieving teams that hurt the sport. What they lack in size has nothing to do with what is in thier chests. A lot of heart. They know when they line up early every year against Judson they probably don't have a chance, but they still line up for 48 minutes and give it all they have. If I were in battle I would rather have thier boys in my foxhole than a lot of the other 11 game teams out there who know they are good.

A 3A almost beat one of the Laredo 5A teams this year! Nixon is better than the rest in town, though.

I like the heart factor, too.
