Jones either frantic hires him as head coach in the next 48 hours, convinces him to stay and triples his salary, or Jason realizes that waiting a couple of years and taking over a well-built Cowboys team will be more beneficial to his coaching career than trying to rebuild a wrecked Baltimore squad.

I would go with the second.

If he's smart (and he is) - he takes the massive pay raise - and becomes the Dallas HC in two/three years - or takes a similar gig elsewhere. JJ will match the Ravens money -and the Ravens offense is a grease-fire.

If Ray Lewis is back next year, can you see him working well with Garrett? I think he is pushing all of this with other teams, because he KNOWS that Jerry will come close to the money he would get as a head coach with another team...

I hope Jerry does what Dan Snyder did with Greg Williams; pay him a ton to stay around and be a coordinator.

If he believes he can be a great head coach he should take the job. He would be able to develop a QB of his own, the Ravens owner seems to be willing to spend money, and he would have a great GM in Ozzie Newsome.

The Ravens were 13-3 last year and if he can fix the offense they can get back in the playoffs. That defense is still pretty damn good if they get some help from the offense.

I know that Garrett made a comment to one of the players just before Christmas that if he left (and didn't anticipate leaving), he wanted the player to go with him.

Yesterday, JJ locked down the player for two more years. It's on paper, so the player is a Cowboy for at least two more years.

Some called him crazy for saying garrett would consider leavin.

But I can see Jerrah pullin' a Dan Snyder and paying him money. Gregg Williams and Al Saunders are the top 2 paid coordinators.

The difference is that Gibbs was still making more money than Williams or Saunders. If Jerry Jones tries to match the money that the Ravens would more than likely offer Garrett he would be making more than Wade Phillips, unless Jones gave Phillips a raise as well.

Yeah, Wade will get screwed, but I believe one of the main reasons he took the HC job of the Dallas Cowboys was to build his resume. This way when JJ decides to give the HC job to Garrett, Phillips will have had quite the record and be able to get another HC job somewhere else. Phillips came into this job knowing that Garrett would one day be offered the HC job of the Dallas Cowboys.

Jerry said on the news last night in response to Dale Hanson's question that Wade Phillips is the coach of the Cowboys and that he is not going to elevate Jason Garrett (this season).

Another playoff loss didn't help the Phillips ole record.
