no, not even a chance 13-4 is considered by most to be a successful year

Thats what the Chargers thought when they had a 14-2 record and fired Schottenheimer.

My GOD! Now, this thread is going to get locked.
As for the subject at hand, I think Jerry gives Wade one more season to prove himself, and if no success is garnered, then Wade maybe gone.
But, then again, history shows that Jerry doesn't waste anytime getting rid of them.

But everyone knew Garrett was going to be the head coach eventually. They just wanted Phillips until Garrett was 'ready'.

Guys, PLEASE keep this on subject...I'm doing everything I can to keep these convos going without locking em down...keep this on Wade Phillips and keep it civil.

Why would you fire a coach that went 13-3? I realize San Diego did it and I didn't understand it then. Wade did absolutely nothing to warrant being fired...nothing.
Can it happen? Hell yeah. In this day and age anything can happen. Jerry Jones fired Jimmy Johnson after he won the f'n Super Bowl....so yeah it can happen. But it wouldn't make sense to me.

The only reason, and as I alluded to it when I started the thread was that Garrett was brought in as the heir apparent. Would've even been given the big boy whistle if he was "ready".
The question is is Garrett ready for the big boy whistle?

But Wade Phillips is a better coach than Bill Parcells.:laugh

In all honesty, I don't think Garrett is ready.....as of right now. He still needs to get a few more years under his belt. I like him, but he isn't ready to be a head coach.

I think if Wade stays its a mirror of Parcells stint. Really good the first year then sucked.

I know who they're gonna hire- Williams.
But you have about as much right to say thats not true as I do to say it is. And it appears many more agree with me.
So Wide, why don't you leave the board for the _th time.

I agree. It would benefit Garrett if Wade stayed another year or two. But it may not benefit Dallas that wade stays.

Doesn't matter who they have coaching, Jerry Junes sucks as an owner. Curly Lambeau couldn't get the cowboys to a superbowl, because at the end of the day jones would have done something to mess that up as well

Garrett isn't ready. Did you see some of that play-calling yesterday?
Phillips never has been a good coach. He's somewhat an NFL version of Mack Brown, except Mack helps recruit and maintain Texas and Phillips doesn't blow as many games to inferior teams.
Wade just won't make a team better. He won't make them worse, either. He'll make the playoffs with a decent team, but he's not going to do something to make you win, either.

Schottenheimer and the Charger GM weren't on speaking terms, so either the coach or the GM was going to be fired.

I thought I read that Garret would be the MAN at Baltimore by the end of the week. Maybe I read wrong.

And the GM can fire the coach...not the other way around.
And I think the owner was on the GM's side as well.
Not an ideal situation.

If so, Dallas may be in trouble future wise.
