They are surprising team this season. True, 18-5A isn't a premier district anymore, but they beat Eisenhower for the first time since 1990, not only did they beat them, but they smeared them across the field. They will most likely make the playoffs for the first time since 1993. What are you alls thoughts?

That distirct is in a down year. For some reason the Chronicle had Aldine ranked in the top 10 this year. The title is Memorials to lose...Mac, Nimitz and Stratford should be fighting for the playoff spots.

This weeks game with Stratford puts the winner in the driver's seat for the playoffs. Memorial and Nimitz should get the other two spots.

As for Aldine being in the area's top 10, The Chronicle does some strange things.

Don't hear much from 18-5A or the Aldine schools (except from Ike once and a while)

What's going on. Ike has been on the downside the last couple of years. Thier last moment of glory was when they beat NS in the dome. That was NS's last lost going into the 03 Championship season. I really thought they would come back strong.

They had a change in coaching staff and changed their offensive scheme and looked like the 05 Texans against Katy in the 04 opener.

I would like to hear about some of your top players in that district.

Both Aldine and IKE have both been struggling since coaching changes last year. IKE got a new coach again this year and they just haven't been able to put anything together. It is really sad to see both of these programs fall from the ranks. This is the first year that Stratford has ever beaten Aldine, and two years ago was the first time Aldine lost to any Spring Branch school. With Coach Smith gone, they have been struggling to make something. Hopefully we will see something come out next year with both Aldine and IKE. It is always good to go to the Aldine v. IKE game and see a packed house with two teams that are playing for the district championship. I don't think there will be that many people at Thorne this Sat to watch these two teams, even though they are rivals. Aldine ISD has a strong tradition in football, lets hope they can come back next year against the Spring Branch schools. That is, of course, if the UIL leaves 18-5A in tact. Maybe that was a bad omen, because the Aldine schools were in 21-5a for such a long time, then they move to 18-5a and they start loosing. Anyway, they can always look forward to beating Spring Woods and Northbrook, who battle it out each year for last place.
