Who do you think is the best Westlake HB in their school history?

Matt Dornak: broke onto scene in playoff run '03, and followed up in 2004 with over 1300 yds. on 200 carries with only two fumbles! Has school record for single game rushing yards. Sr. year shortened by broken ankle. Who knows what could have been?

Tyler Campbell: successor to Scott Ballew and son of Earl Campbell. Two-year starter and probably the most powerful of all Westlake backs. Has the record for longest run from the LOS in WHS history at 99 yds. Was only 16 when his Sr. started, so Westlake lost a year when mom enrolled him early in school. Currently playing at San Diego St.

Scott Ballew: Three year starter who led Westlake to two state final games as a Jr. and Sr. Has the WHS record for TD's in a game with 7 vs. Clark in a playoff game. Went well over 1000 yds each season he played.

Brett Robin: HB on Westlake's state championship team in 1996. Went on to have a productive carreer as a third down back at UT. Probably the strongest back in WHS history.

Ryan Nunez: Westlake's all-time leading rusher. This guy had speed and moves that were just unreal. Went on to become a WR at CU and UT. Also holds the WHS record in the 110 hurdles.

this is like asking who is the best quarterback in Texas A&M history.

Not Dornak or Campbell for sure. I think Dornak is good, fast and powerful, but he really is as good as his O-line. Campbell, I don't know, he just can't be put in the same boat as Ballew, Robin, or Nunez.

You left off some candidates;
Blair Hibbert, tough as nails, played both ways, smart
Jimmy Bristol, 6'3"-moves like a cat, played against Thurmond Thomas in playoffs.
Kelly Gruber, QB sneak was a play we ran from anywhere on the field--chose baseball and is wearing around a World Championship ring.
Darryl Schenk, best body lien I've ever seen...punishing runner
Mark Mangum, leader, ran the optiion to perfection, started Westlake's playoff tradition.
Jamie Tyler-in the second half of the state championship game he took over after Robins was hurt....unstoppable
Thanks for doing the survey...it made me realize how lucky we've been to get to watch all these great players! I'd take anyone of them! Minor and Dornak are carrying on the tradition.

Scott Bellew was a hoss in the State game against Lufkin. But Nunez made some insane catches as a WR in college. Campbell was nothing like his dad but Robin was a good RB at Texas and could have Started at about 100 other programs. I would have to Say Bellew just a down hill hardnose runner. Plus he had a nice set of hands.

Scott Ballew was a speedster when he came into varsity as a sophmore. He improved in running ability, receiving, strength and determination each year. He was amazing to watch run though a defender, around the next, and dive 5 yards OVER the next to get into the end zone. I think that if Scott had gotten more of the calls late in the game against Lufkin and Reggie McNeal in the 2001 State game, there is a good chance WL would have another trophy in it's case! (just my opinion...)
Ryan Nunez was fast and could juke just about any defender in the open field, but I felt Scott trained and improved to be tougher, more skilled, and a better back! I vote for Scott....
