Garland played Carter two times when Crabtree was a senior (boring games, meaning not much passing, lol, not many "style points" but lots of good players beating the**** out of each other to get thier team over the goal line:rolleyes:). Among many Dls he was among the best, if not THE best on the field in those two games. One of the great things about being a HS football fan is following players at higher levels. He is now a lagit Hiesman candidate and NCAA player of the year. He was the leader, QB, of the Carter, low passing, run dominated, smash mouth offense; and played some strong D, too as I recall:notworthy

AS A FRESHMAN: AT&T All-American Player of the year, Consensus Unanimous First team All-American, Fred Bilenikoff Winner, led the nation in receiving yards, touchdowns, and catches; shattered TD records for freshmen
Numbers don't lie!!! NO ONE Expected this greatness from Crabtree, including me, who was one of his biggest fans when he was in high school.
Many old-schoolers argue with me because of players like (Greg Hill, Darren Lewis, Jessie Armstead--hard to argue against a pro-Bowler). But Crabtree is one of ,if not the best, athletes from Carter.
I must say that he is having one of the greatest college careers(considering this is just the first one) of any DISD players.
The greatest wideout so far is probably Tim Brown. I haven't seen Tim Brown numbers but I bet they don't compare after 1 season of collegiate play. And Crabtree probably won't break college career records because he's expected to come out after this season since he red-shirted and will be 3 yrs removed from high school.
But if you asked me, as far as college careers:
1. Crabtree
2. Lewis (shattered records during his time too)
3. Armstead
4. Hill
Crabtree was kind of overlooked because, its hard to have great numbers in Wilson's system.

He is one of the best that I have seen. I didn't think he would have this much success this quick though.

I've warred a time or two over Carter, but I have to say they're alright with me!:D The guy just works hard and keeps getting better. He has an air of confidence about him and he backs up what he says. He went into the year saying he wanted to break the freshman TD record and he did it in 5 games. He had the 3rd best D1 year ever for TD's (22), the #4 season in D1 for catches (134), and the #3 D1 season for yards (1962) and all as a freshman. He would've blown away all the single-season records this year if he wasn't playing in a BCS conference.
When he wasn't a Heisman Finalist this year, he said he'd have to play better next year and I think he'll do it. He'd own every career receiving record in all classes if he played 4 years at Tech.

Actually, they got on him later in the season this year!!! The good thing was that he had good games again UT and OU, which was some good competition.

Crabtree was kind of overlooked because, its hard to have great numbers in Wilson's system.Larry Fitzgerald had great Freshman numbers, but not as good as Crab. Randy Moss had a lot of TD catches as a Freshman, but Marshall was still a D1-AA team at that time. Moss didn't have Crab yards or catches, though.

The kid's a highlite film, WOW!
Plus, he's got a great receiver name- Crabtree C'mon, that just begs to become a household name, one day, as in " Chicago Bear QB of the future to Michael Crabtree, for the touchdown!!!"

I hope Leach and Harrel will work on some "ghost" patterns, or get the ball to him on some screens etc; He will get MUCH attention from day one!
