They are atop the 26-5A of course...but seriously....are they really meant to be there. Im sure most of you guys have been to their games. Now, they have played some good teams in the distrct like Churchill and Reagan, but...They haven't played the Rocks or the Rangers. Obviously Im questioning Madison's playability. Are they better then last year? Or are they atop the district just purely because of the madness thats happening their district, and somehow they've escaped it. I for one, I really don't know how real Madison is. this upcoming game is a time to prove themselves. They got a fast QB and RB. Chris Caflisch and Tony Green.

Due to a few recent events....I want the Mavs to dismantle the Rangers. I think they'll be better this year. They'll be able to split with either SV or Judson....I think they have a better chance with Judson, but I think Madison can beat SV. Madison is probably looking to straighten out Macarthur from last year...and if Lonny is right about Streety....expect a high scoring game!....especialy if it's just one side scoring.

From what I seen of Streety is that he will run the score every opportunity he can. I do not think they will be able to run up the score on the Judson defense. That is if the offense gives them a chance to rest every now and then.

I think it's easier than you think. From what I've seen Mac has a decent running game but they rely a lot on screen passing and midrange passing. I've seen very few long balls. And because Madison is a running team it is more likely that Madison can hold on to the ball for a greater amount of time....just my opinion.

I haveta agree.....although Fuschak didn't run the score up last year....Streety probably won't show as much mercy. Which, as much as I don't agree with running up the score....it's good to see your own team dominate.

That is exactly what I am saying. Mac does not have a quick strike offense allowing them to hold onto the ball. It will limit both teams posessions and whichever team scores with their opportunities will win.

...well duh, thats the whole point, bubba!
But Madison's defense is good, I will give them that. And as the game progresses, I really think the Mavs will blitz more and more....judging from what happened when Mac played Reagan.

Not as real as 2002, either. Madison is good, but they don't have the dominating offense they had with Gutierrez and Gary Green. It's real hard to call the district right now. Madison might go undefeated in district, but they can easily lose the next 3.

All I know is last year they were suppose to rock SV accourding to everyone at that school. It looks like they will on paper this year just like it did last year. I was real nervous going into that game last year. Their athletes were a lot better than SV. The outcome?
Madison lost 42-6 The game was over in the first quarter. The 6 came against the 2nd and 3rd teams. I think both Judson and SV will beat them. This year the scores will be closer than they were last year however, and I would say I am just a nervous, but SV will "Find a Way"

Guys, I don't know how many Mac games you have seen but they are a quick strike offense. They have 6 Td's on passes (30 or more yds) down field and they have 9TD's from 46 yds or more. Craig has 6 of them, Richards 1, Odom 1 and Westbrook 1. While they will throw short passes, it is based on what the defense will allow. Five of Craig's TD's have come from screens or runs. The rest of them were long passes not screen and a KO TD by Craig. Reagan was the one team that played them straight up on the WR's and it paid off. SV try to not allow the deep pass by playing a lot of zone and dropping LB's back in coverage and Mac put up 220 yds rushing with Udell having 115 of them on 11 carries. They only passed for 131yds because they didn't need to pass. The run was wide open. The way you stop Mac is play your CB's in man and keep the pressure on the QB. Not many teams have shown they can do that. Most teams have a weak CB and LB's that are strong run stoppers playing the run but weak against pass coverage. All of the Mac WR's and Craig have speed. You have to be able to cover 4 WR's and Craig out of the backfield. That's were I give Reagan credit. Now we get to see if Churchill can do it. Everyone keeps waiting for Mac to go back to the way they were but this offense allows them to score on every play. They are no longer run, run for 2yds and then try to pass for a first down. It's fun to watch and has made them very competitive. If your secondary is not strong, you are going to give up some points.

From what I've heard...Churchill has a weak secondary. Seems quite a few teams have been able to run on Smithson Valley though.

Churchill's secondary was an issue at the beginning of the year but they haven't played a pass oriented offense since Marshall. I'm sure they are better now.
I also agree with you on SV from what I've seen but here's were they are better then say Mac or Reagan. Their defense plays better in the red zone. That's been the difference in most of their games. They take advantage of the other teams mistakes or make you kick FG's more then you would like. The defense bends but doesn't break (as much) as others.

They put that one away with Roosevelt. Not to say anything concerning Madison, but The Eric Udell-Jonathan Craig passing tandem that night was murder. But no, not many long passes. I think Fuschak is being conservative with Mac's passing game, to limit long passes until they're necessary (Ryan Loftin's 61 yard gain on 4th and 15 against Reagan? I think so)
Mac has shown that they can score on anyone. The question is, can they exploit that against defensively strong teams like Madison?

SV plays better D in the endzone. Two interceptions off Udell and whoever else cost Mac the game against the Rangers. Subtract those two interceptions, and it would have been 35-28 Mac. Potentially. The same thing led to a one touchdown loss last year as well.

And if I were 6'4", 210, and ran a 4.2 and could throw 60 yards on average, I'd be one of the most popular guys around, wouldn't I?

"All hit a touchdown"? what is that supposed to mean? Anyway, the point is, when Mac loses (this season ONLY) they lose by no more than a touchdown (22-20 loss to Reagan, 28-21 loss to SV). Can Reagan say the same? Hmm....
I wasn't questioning Fuschak. He's actually the only coach at Mac I like, besides Honeycutt, who is a riot in the form of a seventy year old man.

Do they teach reading and comprehension at Mac? Hopefully they do cause all my friends at Mac can read what I say.
YOU-ALL-HIT-A-TOUCHDOWN.....do you seriously not understand that? Let me break it down further. A player, took the ball, ran to the zone at the end of the field, in a futile attempt to tie the game. Maybe futile is too big a word - pointless.
If I were Fuschak, I'd go to the new school when it opens....get some of the talent that Reagan has and build them up.

Well considering my day today, I'm not exactly at the peak of my comprehension skills. Believe me.
I could have sworn I said this season so far...if not that's what I meant.
Reading and comprehension cracks. Despite being rated "academically unacceptable" for totally asinine reasons, the majority of Mac's student body scored in the "above-standard" level last year on the reading and writing portions of the TAKS. Problem was, the school board took into consideration the ALE student's scores which hampered Mac's performance. Some protest was organized, but no further news on it has come up. So regardless of how sarcastic the original intent of that comprehension crack was, it could be considered invalid by this.
Here's the deal. You and I don't know each other. I've read a number of your replies and you seem to misunderstand what I intent to convey and I imagine I do the same. It's an unconscious thing. Now we can stop bickering mindlessly and discuss football, or you could follow this attempt at new life with a rant about how stupid kids at Mac must be because of my little display about ten minutes ago. So what say you?

Mac will have to be able to pass. Churchill has shown that they can stop the run. I think the Fanuzzi injury was a big mental blow but now they seem to be back mentally. If Mac can't pass, they won't win. The pass will open up the run. That's the way this offense works. Churchill's offense is not going to blow you off the field now but they showed they can be patient.
It will be fun to watch.

You know what I mean.
Reinstating the fact that we don't understand each other, I have yet to comment or even imply that Mac is the best school around. They are far from it. I have, obviously, discussed why Mac is better than Reagan - but that says nothing about other teams. But coming off a 2-8 season last year and having a chance at the playoffs for the first time in 5 years, the guys have earned a little credit, IMO. Reagan has too, don't get me wrong.
So again, I don't think Mac is better than everyone. Not at all. I think they're better than Reagan. But not everyone else. Understood?
Now I'll bring back that question I asked last time. Can we do what this board asks and leave it as such?

Passing and opening up the run is how a lot of offenses work. Mac reminds me somewhat of the Seaquawks in Seatle (i purposely insulted their mascot :D ) Big passing team and it opens it up for Alexander (Craig). Now, I said their offense REMINDED me of them....I'm not making the entire comparison and claiming they are.
Mac-Churchill should be a good game...shame it's a Thursday nighter....otherwise I could sport my Reagan vs. Churchill Shirt.

Works to my advantage - I have to stay after school until 9 pm on Friday for tech work.

True. I've noticed that I haven't done so hot in the follow-up Fridays in school.

We only had two Thursday nighters....Mac and Lee. So I used up a lot of energy in the Mac one and I was just frozen from the Lee one so it wasn't too bad.
