I was watching Sportscenter with the Family this Christmas morning and they were showing highlights from the '72 Dolphins' undefeated season. i never realized they had to play Pittsburgh on the road for the AFC Championship. Does anyone remember how they determined the home field for those games back then? Obviously, the Steelers didn't have a better record than the Dolphins.

Any help on this one?

They used a rotation rather than record...but I'm no expert...:D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1975_NFL_season...

The 1975 NFL season was the 56th regular season of the National Football League. The league made two significant changes to increase the appeal of the game:

The surviving clubs with the best regular season records were made the home teams for each playoff round. Previously, game sites rotated by division.
The league pioneered the use of equipping American football referees with wireless microphones to announce penalties and clarify complex and/or unusual rulings to both fans and the media.

I'm not sure either 'increased the appeal of the game'...:D

Welcome...
Hope you and Mrs Slorch...that NEVER sounds right...had a safe and Merry Christmas...

I'll have to do a little research...but there were so odd (read BS) things that went on under the rotation system...winning your division and have the best record in your conference didnt mean much...
