I really don't understand why Berkner never gets the attention they deserve. With the program on the rise, making the playoffs the last 2 years, you never hear about Berkner. Being 7-0 and looking forward to be undefeated and win the district, Berkner has one of best offenses in the state. Their profilic running game is lead by future Division-1A stars in Justin and Josh Johnson. And don't underestimate the defense led by #19 in the state Ugo Chinasa. Berkner has a good chance to get to the state game, especially if they play skyline and ( rowlett or rockwall) in the playoffs.

possibly because of a rather weak district? no offense but i just looked at you guys schedule and it's nothing special. You say you've been to the playoffs 2 years? what have you done there? obviously not much, i haven't heard the name around here. plus you'll find other schools how have a much longer streak than that. by all means they could be underrated, but we need reasons to 'rate' them first

With that schedule, i would expect any solid team to go undefeated. But playing a schedule like that also doesnt help out to much in the playoffs, which is obviously why you havent had much success in the playoffs.

Berkner had their first win of "consequence" this year when the beat a good Duncanville team on the road. It takes time to establish a reputation, but it is way too early to start talking about state games. Berkner's 2nd round matchup against either Rowlett or Rockwall will be a huge test - both those teams are way better than anything in that district.

Berkner does have one advantage, and that is the offense they run (split back veer). Most of their playoff opponents will not have seen it, and it is not easy to defend. I recall Lake Highlands making several deep runs in the '90s running the wishbone, partly because of great athletes like Marcus Stiggers, and partly because no one could figure out how to play the wishbone.

Berkner is exactly as one poster put it (a solid team). They run the triple option and yes it is the same offense Lake Highlands used with great success. The Johnson brothers are a lot of fun to watch (I can't wait until Josh gets to his senior year). Josh reminds a lot of Cedric Benson a few years back. The thing that makes them hard to defend is because if you key on Justin, Josh will break big play on you and if you key Josh, Justin will hit you for 5 to 6 yards a carry. They have a pretty big offensive line and another future D1 player in Josh LeRibbas (sp). This kid can play defense also.

They had a couple other significant wins in their past (Plano West for the third playoff spot a couple of years back) and they beat a pretty good Irving Mac team earlier that same year. They did beat Duncanville this year (that game was actually at home) but that hasn't turned out to be that big a deal. In fact, I think the win over Mesquite Horn holds more water.

I've been watching these guys since my sons started to school there in I believe coach Ledford's first year and their progress has been impressive. I think these guys can go at least three rounds deep as long as they bring their "A" game. But when they cross paths with Trinity or SLC, that will pretty much end the season. I just don't feel the defense can stop either one of those offenses and the offense has a tendancey to cough up the ball. You do that in the playoffs and your road is going to be pretty short.

will they be d-1 or d-2? the d-1 won't be strong in reg 2. berkner may be the least hyped program there is and the ignorability is well deserved going by their history. they could certainly make some noise this year, but not past the reg finals.

They will definitely be D1. If anyone looks past them and isn't prepared to stop the triple option they will be making a big mistake.

Berkner might not play "good" teams, but the only close game all year was against our rival Lake Highlands. Berkner won against Mesquite Horn by 7, but they scored a touchdown late in the game. Berkner dominated Ducanville, Lakeview, Jesuit, Pearce, and Newman Smith. Berkner has a chance this year to make it a couple rounds into the playoffs. Last year, Berkner won against Skyline and then lost to the future state champs Tyler Lee. Berkner is way better this year, so add a couple more post season wins. Berkner is a cinderalla team, even though they havent had a lost.

Berkner is a good team in a weak district. I wrote them off a few weeks ago as a serious title contender. They might still win a playoff game, but I doubt two.

I can see them easily three weeks into the playoffs. In fact they could still be around to face the winner of the SLC/Trinity game. That's where is see the end of the road for Berkner. You have to watch them to appreciate them.

I don't think they beat T Lee or Rockwall in Week 2.

To tell you the truth, Berkner will make it through the first 2 rounds and have a chance to make it out of the third. Berkner will revenge last year's loss of Tyler Lee. Rowlett or Rockwall has nothing on Berkner. Come talk to me when you aren't bias about a Richardson team.

I don't have anything for or against the 10-5A teams. I was just giving my opinion. That won't be the first time I'm wrong on here if you're right! :D

Lee has to make the playoffs first. As far as Rowlett or Rockwall goes, I think those would be challenging games for Berkner by the same token I think Berkner presents a huge challenge to either of those teams. Berkner has faced some the top backs in the metroplex and still hasn't lost so having a stud back won't intimidate them much.

you barely beat a Lake Highland's team that LV put 31 on in the first half and then coasted.....LV also beat Horn by 38....a fast defensive team will eat you guys alive.....just like Jesuit last year, good record against mediocre teams....first good team in the playoffs and you guys get exposed.........

mr longview dude, i don't think you can talk. Didn't Longview win in the last seconds last game? Against Rockwall? Anyways, I hate comparing teams by how bad they beat other teams they both played. Lake Highlands is our rival, of course it's always going to be a good game. Mesquite Horn was our first game so of course we will be rusty. We dominated that game. And plus, before the season even started, we scrimmage Keller Fossil Ridge and beat them.

sry man, like us you do have something to prove....if you guys hold onto the ball, you could make a little noise, just want to see you play a team with real speed on defense....my post did sound like an insult, but would like to see if you guys are for real.......

Our runningback Josh was a big winner in the 100 yard dash last year. We have several kids that run in the 4.4-4.6 on offense. Our offensive line is one of the best in the area. And for the playoff games, most people around the state havent played against the kind of offense we run. Film and real life are two complete different things. That's a big advantage for Berkner.
