How many fans do you anticipate attending?...

5A here between Destrehan and Acadiana had 42,000 from what I hear...Some of those probably leftovers though from the previous game...Still not to shabby I don't think...

Thanks!

150K because San Antonio residents want to see people fatter than they are!:D

OK, with Katy and a Judson home crowd and Pflugerville not that far away, I'll say 40K. A few might come out to see the Haka!:D

Well the second game will have leftovers from the first game...so the Katy game should be rockin'

Last years game didnt draw the huge crowds (30,000+) because it was just a couple of days before Christmas and many people had already left town for Christmas.

I think this years games will have in the 30,000+ for each game. Probably 50,000 throughout the whole day come through the Alamodome.

PS. I didnt hear an attendance for the Katy vs Clements game (Rice Stadium) but I think it had to be close to 30,000. Looked like Rice Stadium was 1/2 filled.

Yeah I would say around the 50k mark mainly because of the Judson home crowd.

On the radio I was told, the announcers said that Katy had at least 20K at the last game. That was just Katy's crowd.

According to our good buddies at the UIL, the largest attendance ever for a Texas H.S. state championship was:

1977 (4A - largest Classification at the time)
Plano - 13
Port Neches-Groves - 10

Stadium: Texas Stadium
Attendance: 49,953

Since CJ & Pflugerville are local and Katy always travels well, could this be the year that this 30 year record is broken?

I thought SLC vs Trinity unofficially broke it!

Thanks.. The Clements side looked almost equal to the Katy side so I think it's safe to say there was close to 40K in Rice Stadium that night.

Both teams being from the Houston area helped out.

Ya, when you see the crowd inside Texas Stadium for that SLC vs Trinity game last year. How could there of been anything under 50K there ??

Looked like the whole freaking stadium was packed.

Well the SLC/Trinity game wasn't a state championship game and I think the stat was for state championship games.

I was talking about the Katy-SA Madison game.

But you are correct in that Clements had a really good crowd.
They certainly were right up there with Katy and 40K would not surprise me.
Someone posted a great pic of that game with a wide angle showing both sides.
It was one really cool looking picture.

I watched the You Tube video and it's hard to believe that the "official" attendance was just over 46,000... that stadium is packed!! Unofficially it looks way over that. Doesn't Texas Stadium hold around 65,000?

However for state championships, the 1977 4A state title game still holds the record. Here is a short article from MaxPreps...

Wild Weekend in High School Football MaxPreps’ weekly look at the top stories, games, and performances from the weekend.

Southlake Survives Showdown

ESPN may need to devote some time to high school football this week. There probably isn’t a better candidate for the network’s “Instant Classic” program than Southlake Carroll’s 22-21 victory over Euless Trinity in the Texas 5A state playoffs.

Drama? Check. Dragon quarterback Riley Dodge scored the game winner on a two-yard keeper with just 37 seconds remaining.

Memorable plays? Check. Trinity head coach Steve Lineweaver made a gutsy, but unsuccessful, attempt to keep the ball out of Southlake Carroll’s hands in the closing minutes with a fake punt from his own 35-yard line.

Fans? Check. The pairing of defending state 5A champions drew over 46,000 of them to Texas Stadium. It marked that venue’s largest crowd for a high school football game since 1977, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Katy brings -- 20K.

P-ville bring -- 8 K.

Walkins/ Leftovers -- 7 K

Probably about 35K for the Katy vs P-ville game.

You know, that crowd says a lot about Texas High School football. I don't think there is another state in the union that would fill a stadium for a high school game. You gotta love it! :notworthy

Diffenantly not NY

I'm curious what state has the largest recorded HS football game attendance?

Contrary to what some say, it wasn't a title game!:p

It did unofficially break the attendance record, but there were 4 games that day, so I don't know what they counted as the figure.

There was over 50000 for the Trinity SLC game last year with many more tying to get in the stadium stuck in traffic. But officailly it was less. I don't care what they said there were not many seats left in a 65000 seat stadium.

I don't think there will be as amny as people are predicting. 3 days before Xmas. Walk-ins will not influence the count much. Judson will bring about 3,500 and another 300-400 with the band, and pep squads. Trinity will bring about that many and the walk-ins about 1,500. There will be about 40,000 Katy fans warming up for thier game, so, on second thought, the crowd will be pretty significant!

this is what I was told - the ET-SLC game was first, at a predesignated time the attendence #'s at the stadium went from being allocated from game #1 to game # 2. But so many people were late due to traffic, that they were actually coming to the first game but were counted for the second game.

Katy has a very good following but it's not in the neighborhood of some of the inflated #'s that are in this thread. There were maybe 12-14,000 katy fans last week vs. Madison. i'd be suprised if there are 20k actual KATY fans at the state game with it being on tv. Now there may be 25k on our side of the stadium including walkin bipartisan fans. I hope its a big crowd....always makes for better games. I dont think that many will stay around for the D2 game, its not really a Marquee matchup. I think its going to be on heck of a ballgame, but most outside fans wont think so.
