I updated the projected brackets to reflect Week 7 results....
Wk. 8 Bracket Projection Update (http://www.5atexasfootball.com/stateplayoffs.htm)
Keep in mind this is all in fun and just for meant for people to see the playoff picture come into focus. Based on, "if the season ended today." Of course, for ties in I had to use current head to head tie breaks if they existed. If not, I took who I deemed to be the most likely candidate.
I didn't have to do that as much this week as things are starting to fall into place...however, a select few districts are getting more confusing as well.
Enjoy.

Yeah, caught that right when I hit the save button. Regardless, they are in the playoffs as of now and have bumped Plano to D2.
Clemens also joins D2 via revised in enrollment from UIL.

So if Heritage plays to their potential it could shape the whole D-1 D-2 thing...

what potential? Christian Ponder is playing as hard as he can already. :D

While Carroll and Trinity would have the toughest first round game in D1, North Shore would have the hardest route to a championship under the current bracket. They could possibly have to face Pearland, Westfield, Katy, and SLC or Trinity in four of their five games. Ouch.
Regions 2 and 3 in D1 aren't too intimidating, especially region 3. I suppose Austin Westlake or The Woodlands could cause some problems for whoever comes out of region 1.

Region 3's top three teams project in Division 1 right now, so I think that makes the region very strong. If Katy joins North Shore and Westfield in Division 1, it will be the strongest Region 3 bracket I've seen since 1997. Those are three top 10 caliber teams with Houston Lamar and Pearland also undefeated right now.

Sorry, I meant region 4. Obviously region 3 is tough. Extremely tough.

I may be wrong but, if SLC and Trinity play the first week then it seems that the rest of the march to the Championship game would be fairly easy. So the right to be in the State Championship game might be decided on the first week of playoffs for both SLC and Trintiy.

I don't think the road is ever "easy" but the winner of that game would be well equipped to go the distance for sure. In 2003, how many thought Carroll's toughest game on the way to the championship game would be against a five loss Lubbock Monterey team?

Are there any other enrollment changes worth noting?

Under those picks, Div 1 makes Div 2 look like a joke. With the exception of Lufkin and Longview, there is nothing comparable.

Drgnbkr said he felt SLC's chances for D1 are about 60% - so they could certainly still go D2. Everyone is forgetting Abilene High - which is fine by them. They have one of the two best qb/wr combos anywhere - and the D is getting better every week. But, I do admit the southern part of D2 is going to be pretty weak - Katy and SV have held that part of the division up for several years.

Region 4, Division 2 looks pretty good now with Clemens, SV, San Marcos and Madison all projected in that bracket. As much as I've seen of Region 3, I can't even begin to pick a favorite in the Division 2 bracket. Katy's position will be in limbo until the final week most likely. There is a six way tie for third place in 19-5A right now.
There were no further revised enrollments that effected the bracket like in Clemens' case.
Region 2, Division 2 is still very strong in my opinion.

Div 1 looks pretty darn easy with only Carroll & Trinity. There is nobody else.

in the upper half of the state you mean. i've got a feeling the likes of westfield/kt/gpns may contradict your comments a little.

In all honesty, I will be pretty disappointed if Abilene High doesn't make it at least to the semi-finals. Region II looks like a pretty tough draw. I'm not sure that right now the Eagles are the same caliber of team as Lufkin, Longview, or Cove, so to say making it to the state championship game would be disappointing would be just completely homering out and I ain't gonna do that.

Plano and South Grand Prairie are two more teams I like projecting in that Region 1, D2 field right now. If the playoffs started today, Plano would probably be the "consensus" favorite to win that region in my opinion.

plano in round 3 or 4 would be a test too.

I don't ever pay any attention to the bottom half of the state.

Congratulations! We finally agree on the likely (third) playoff reps in 15-5A and 16-5A (which probably means there'll be some upsets this weekend to mess it up again!)

Will somebody for real PLEASE play Hays. 15-5a needs to know if this team is for real because they pose a threat to either Pflguerville or Leander from getting out of the 1st round, and 7-0 looks pretty strong (even though it doesnt look like they have played anybody at all).
