I think this game will be very challenging for Tyler Lee since Tyler John Tyler has one of the best defense.
I wish Tyler John Tyler play Longview vs before playing Tyler Lee so I can see whats really going to happen to us but its early so Its going to be hard to predicted this game.

Tyler Lee is in real trouble here. Maddoxx will have a big day passing and rushing against a undermanned defensive unit. John Tyler's defense will have a hard time stoping Jason Williams and if he really gets going Lee will beat JT, but right now I have the Lions my friends a 2 TD favorite.

This is definitely a tough one...in rivalry games you can never really tell sometimes...but i think JT has the better team this year, so I gotta go with them.
JT 27
Lee 14
I think this has to be the year of the underdog...
Dallas spanks Philly(defintely didnt expect that one),
UT rolls up OK(UT really wasn't an underdog),
View beats LP????(couldn't resist  )

This game will be very hard on Tyler Lee. I think it will ultimately end their season...if they can't get the win....which I don't expect them to get.

Tyler Lee 14
TJT will have at least 2 other opportunities to score td's, but will come up short.

As it looks right now, View and JT are pretty much locks to make the playoffs(They will both be D2). Whoever gets that third spot will go D1 (Lee, Mesquite, or Rockwall) I would say Lee will get there, but now I think I like Rockwall after the way they play @ L'View.
Unless, things get super crazy and Mesquite Horn finds a way in(highly unlikely) Longview would go D1.

I think the only negative efffect will be Lee's fan base. As it seems JT is the best team in Tyler right now(but we'll find that out on Friday). After Wilson left for Carter, the talent pool "shifted" over to Lee plus they won state last year. But Owens is a good coach and he will have a pretty good team in the next couple of years.

rwall's phoenician rise is almost more impressive than plano's, considering the teams they have had to play in district. both were winless recently, and both are likely po teams. very impressive.

If Lee or Rockwall make the playoffs one of them will be D1. I think Rockwall has the largest enrollment in the district.
I think this game will be a lot closer and a bigger defensive battle than people think. Therefore I predict....
JT 14
Lee 7
I still don't know why people are predicting scores that have JT kicking a FG. JT has yet to kick one this year (in at least 3 attempts) and I don't think they'll be starting anytime soon.

I went to watch Lee/Lv freshmen game. Lee had huge team and they looked pretty big and talented. They had a fullback that will be awesome in a few years.

I wasn't going to say anything until I saw the turnout at the game this week, but since you brought it up.... the Tyler Morning Telegraph said that there were only 1000 fans at the Lee/NMHS game - and that's the combined number of fans from both schools. I pray that was a typo. Now I know JT had about the same number of fans or less that attended their game vs NMHS in Mesquite last year, but that was a team that had only won 6 games in 3 years, not a defending State Champion. It just boggles my mind at the fickleness of the Lee fans. I've always known that 95% of the fans, who did not have a relative participating in the game, only went because it has become the "hot" social event in Tyler on Friday nights, but what has happened is beyond pathetic and totally unacceptable to a team that deserves much better from their "fans".
And also, I would like to thank the approximate (and I'm not underexaggerating) 50-75 fans that showed up supporting their Mesquite team. It's a shame that your school doesn't have a fan base as supportive and as devote as you all that showed.

Yes! Longview Fans was filled up at the Rose Stadium which is at Capacity of 16,000 seats approx. and it was only at our Stadium so compare with that at their Stadium, some of them would have to go on the enemy side. At the North Mesquite game, there were alot of Parents there but not many Kids because they think that our teams going to lose. I expect Tyler John Tyler beat us since they have one of the best Defense in State of Texas but there offense is not that good comparing to our offense.
I am going to change my prediction scores:
Tyler John Tyler 17
Tyler Lee 10

Yeah it was pretty sad. I went and sat on Lee's side with my John Tyler hat, and since I stay till after the school song is played at the end of the game for whichever side I sit on, I was one of 20 or less people from the 50 yd line to the south end of the stadium who stayed near their seats till the end of the song. At least I got to see myself on national tv.......I was a blur, but I knew it was me cause I was the last person in the entire "I" section, which was the case for the last few mins of the game. indeed, very sad.
What if, just what if there is something to this psychological factor that I've previously mentioned . . . Tyler Lee takes this long road trip and suffers a close loss (by most standards considering the circumstances) to a very good team . . . returns home a little flat both mentally and physically and is then set back by a very good E-Trinity team - spiraling ever lower . . . lose to Rockwall and at the same time, lose their starting QB. Suffer a loss to arch-rival Longview . . . Now they get a desperately needed win over North Mesquite - although close, a win nonetheless. Now comes a big game against JT and guess what? Remember, this is the same team and coaching staff that was 2-3 last year suffering losses to Lufkin, E-Trinity and Longview and still managed to win state . . .
A question to all the Longview fans..... Since ya'll have a bye week, who all from LV is planning on attending the JT/Lee game? And if you do, what side are you planning on sitting on (ie, who will you be rooting to win)?

Cuujooooooo Cujjjooo Cujjjooo Cuuuujjoooo. I can hear it. Better Watch out Longview here come the Lions. For the JT fans on this site. Does JT still Chant L L I I O O N N SSSSS when they warm up. I know in the mid 90's it was pretty scary. Although that did have to do with there O-Line being bigger then the Cowboys O-Line. But JT better watch cause Tyler Lee is not to Shabby and might just pull off that 3rd playoff spot. Does anyone know if Lee looses to JT and then wins is a 3-3 district record going to be good enough to get them in.

I don't remember them doing that since Allen Wilson left. Coach Brooks has brought back a lot of the traditions from the 90's (like the old lion on the helmet, the darker blue color, CUJO on the jersey during the playoffs :p.... at least I hope he'll do that anyway), but I hope he starts that chant back up again, even though it's more initiated by the players. I used to love yelling that during warmups...... oh the good ole days lol

I was about to write down the conditions that have to happen for Lee to make the playoffs with a 3-3 record if they lose to JT, but after looking at it, there are just WAY too many scenerios right now. At this moment, there are 2-3 scenerios for Lee to get in without a tiebreaker if they lose this week. If you include a tiebreaker, there are too many ways to count to make it happen. We'll be able to narrow it down significantly on Saturday.

well, in your post, you would think that we were the underdogs--maybe your pulling for the wrong team?? it's OK--your a Lufkin Panther..i understand how you feel about Longview(i've read several of your posts)you have to yell against us, right?? wouldn't expect anything different...as for running us out of the stadium....they sure better be doing a hell of alot of running to run against that defense of ours...they would have a better chance in the passing game, than the running game.....don't forget, we have a pair of pretty good running backs, ourselves...hadn't seen anyone stop them yet--what makes JT's defense special?? do they have a "magical" defense or something???

If Hill plays - he'll keep them somewhat close - if not, forget it. JT wins I think either way.
I'm not going to kick Lee when they're down - but there was always something about that school I haven't liked. I was their no. 1 cheerleader last year when they were 2-2 -- and I didn't get one thank you note. :p
I guess the fair-weatherness has something to do with the fact a kid can switch high schools 4 times if he chooses -- if he meets their shaky exceptions.

yes sir...but JT would have go on a mean streak to get to the quarters. They would have to beat Carter and Cove the two top teams in that bracket. If they give Lview a close game or even beat us I might consider them to pull some upsets and make it to the quarters....I just don't know if they are ready for that yet.

Cujo, i havent welcomed you to the board yet, so welcome. You always have intelligent posts that i enjoy reading.
I must say I am embarrassed to see a thread started by a Tyler Lee fan that predicts his own team to lose. I have said all season that Lee will still beat John Tyler, and I am going to stand by that statement. It will be close, and probably fairly low scoring, but I still think Lee prevails.
As far as playoffs are concerned, as long as that Horn win over Rockwall stands, Lee can lose and still be alright making the playoffs. I would prefer they just win out and not leave any question to it. I have no word on Preston being back, but if he is we have even more of an advantage.

Well thank you very much. I'm glad I've stopped just reading these posts after all these years and started contibuting some of my own. BTW, are you in Abliene because you're going to ACU or HSU or do you just live there now?
And speaking of Hill, did ya'll hear that Preston's brother Josh quit TJC's football team? My "source" said tonight it was because the OL wasn't blocking for him, but that's apparently because Josh is "too fast". But who knows what's really going on with all that.

Cujo, I just finished my undergrad at HSU and now I am in Physical Therapy school at Hardin Simmons. I heard that Preston Hill did play tonight, but if you cant hang on to the ball, I guess it doesnt matter who plays QB. I was surprised with tonights score, but maybe JT's defense is better than I thought. Congrats on the win, and hopefully Lee can sneak into the playoffs. However we will need some help from the Mesquite schools.
I went to the game and above all, I was stunned at TL's efforts or lack there of. I believe TL had six turnovers and four of them gave JT 28 points. For those that did not attend the game, the score was 14-7 at half time - a blocked punt was picked up and ran in for a touch down breaking the 7-7 tie. Second half (third quarter) - TL fumbles a punt return and is recovered by JT inside their own 35-yard line. Third quarter - a pitch is mishandled by TL's running back and JT recovers the fumble deep in TL's end of the field. Fourth quarter -TL's QB is stripped, picked up and raced back 72 yards for yet another score with less than two-minutes left in the game. Unbelievably, only one of these fumbles resulted from a hit - the others seemed to be the result of a lack of focus on Lee's part . . .

I agree, Lee was not in this game at all. I was very worried that the Lee of old had shown up and this would be a very tough game for JT after Lee drove the ball 70 yds on their first drive, and JT turned the ball over on their first series. But I firmly believe that the bogus Roughing the Passer call against JT on Lee's second drive made them mad and woke them up. The very next play, JT recovered their first fumble. And even though they eventually punted on that drive, the momentum had already begun to shift.
But for the most part, I believe that once JT caught a few breaks and was able to go ahead 14-7, Lee lost all hope and actually began to doubt that they could win the game. This Lee team looks like it's starting to crumble at the seams, but I hope they're able to pull it together to make it into the playoffs. However, if they do make it, I don't think they'll last more then 2 rounds, unfortuantely.

Is this the worst fold job by a defending state champ in Texas history? Lee should be embarrassed by their lack of effort - but hats off to JT for turning this program around. A shift in power in Tyler appears clear.

After getting dismantled as they did last night by JT, I don't think they deserve to go to the playoffs. The only teams they have barely beat this year is a 2A team from Florida and Waco and North Mesquite teams that are sub par this year. This has to be the biggest fall of a State champion from one year to the next that I have ever seen. This only proves that the wins by Colerain and Longview on TV were against a mediocre team at best , a hollow State Champion from last season.
JT may or may not be the JT of old but they are sure rocking some peoples houses right now.

Fold job??????
C'mon guys. Get real. In HIGH SCHOOL football you graduate players and don't recruit guys to replace. You play with what you are dealt. Last years senior class was something special and they proved that. Unfortunatly Lee is not blessed with as many special seniors this year, and one of the ones we did have has been hurt half the year in Preston Hill.
I am not trying to make excuses, because all of us, including myself thought we would be better this year, but fact is, we are not. The defense had to replace a lot, our O-line is all new except for one, and unfortunatly for Lee the players to replace them have not responded as expected.
For those of you with short memories, John Tyler went to the state championship in 2000, and came back the next year and went 6-4 overall, and 2-3 in district to miss the playoffs.
I was hoping for a lot better year, and I really thought Lee would perform well, but they haven't. Before we call the kids out for a "fold job" why dont we remember that these are UNPREDICTABLE high school kids.
