I will be the biggest Katy supporter next week here in the dome. They came in here kicked our butts and took names. No excuses in the world could get you pass a butt whoopin like we took today. The best team in the state hands down in my view. The guys on our team that were ejected for bad conduct should be ashamed of themselves. They let a great season be tarnished by these useless actions. Only thing I could say is that we have not had the success that Katy has had in the past years and we are very new to this, hopefully with many more years to come we can get back to the semi's. To FLEEMAN give me the katy shirt cause im fixing to wear it next weekend.. A bet is a bet. Congrats to you on picking the right side to be on no doubt about it. I have read some posts tonight that are dissappointing to me in regard to some Katy fans that are being un Katy like to say the least. I understand you just kicked the living crap out of us, but to rub it in and talk that much smack is uncalled for in my book but you won and I guess to the winners goes the spoils. I hope you all made it back home safely tonight and wish you all the best next week when you will be back here partying to a state championship. LONGHORN3 OUT

That is a very good post.
And I apologize for my rantings on the other post, but I had 2 hours home to stew over the actions on the field and my family being given the bird for no reason other than we were from Katy.
Great season Madison and we welcome any support we can get!

Now these are the quality Katy fans i have come to know over the past week. They support their team strongly, they make great posts, they won with class and they are by far the best team i have seen in many years in high school football. I am still in shock at how easy it was for you to score so many points...It was almost like a basketball game. does anybody know the numbers of the players who were ejected? I might need to have a talk with these young men who disrespected our school with these horrible actions. Many apologies to Katy Players who had to endure these cowardly acts. Next year we won't act so bad. Go Katy

I was wondering who those two player were too, making madison look bad. Katy is on a mission and they will not be stopped until that mission is complete. Toward the end it was easy for Katy to score due to the fact that Madison's defense was worn out and tired, and there offense getting 3 and outs forcing the defense on the field so often didnt help either

:)Congratulations Katy! The first half was a little wobbly but that second half - WOW!!! I was doing some travel reservations and sort of half listening then I realized that I kept hearing the words "Aundre Dean" and I'm like "didn't Madison come to the game too!". Congrats to Madison too - I had seen you guys on TV earlier in the season and something told me you would be here at this point. Great season for you all and absolutely nothing to be ashamed of in losing to Katy - not many have crossed that win line with them lately.
Now, Katy fans, do you mind if I take a chapter out of your own book and bring up the fact that, in 28 games, your one loss is to a team very near and dear to my heart;). Next year it could be 40+ games and we are still in there! So, you have to WIN next week so we can keep that status - ok??;):D

thank you guys for coming on and being very gracious in defeat....it's never fun and you guy are being great sports about it all.
I seriously want to know what you think now....I am not rubbing anything in or trying to be uppity about anything.....Now do you guys think we have been tested this year and just still beat teams bad enough to appear to be untested? I'd like to hear something a little different than "you guys played a great game" . I do value what you guys from SA say. Yall have been very fun to talk to this week

What i think about katy is they are second to none. Its hard to be tested when you can dominate in so many aspects of the game. You caused turnovers, you throw the ball well, you run the ball well, you play defense well. Heck im trying to think of something negative to say and nothing comes to mind. Hell your water boy gives the players water good. Flawless is what comes to mind with watching katy play today. 66 points in the semifinals? wow, is an understatement. I thought we played in the toughest district overall from top to bottom...but you have the toughest team by far in the state..not to say anything bad about SLC but they would have stood no chance against this Katy team. Heck I think you could be some small college teams you played that well...i sure hope you do it next weekend...looking forward to rooting for Katy.

After watching these two teams play in the first half, it just made me that much more sick to think what we could've done with a healthy team. Did we even have a first string DB in the game? :puke Our defense was just on the field way too long and ultimately just gave up.
The offense....i don't know what to say....looked and played awful. I needed to take antacids when i got home. I've never seen a Madison team play like that. As a former Madison player, it was AMAZING to see these guys get over the humps of beating Smithson Valley and getting past Quarters, but the display i witnessed today was NOT what Madison is all about.
While the Madison was obviously the Cinderella of this season with all those injuries, it was tough to watch them lose the way they did....absolutely no heart.....a complete shame after the adversity they've had to deal with this season.
Congrats to Katy on the win.
To Madison, this season was great!!!....next season is going to be a lot of fun...I think Madison will be around for a while.

I think the katy defense had a little to do with that.....I could say the same thing about the first 20 min for katy's offense, but i give credit to a good FAST Madison defense. We have a habit of making teams look their worst on offense.
I think it all turned once katy's Db's starting putting an end to the passing game....#8 is a beast but we played great on him after the first qtr. T fred(#7) and Terrence Henry(#27) played a great game today and had to if we were going to win.

yep, lets give credit where credit is due. Madison kept it close in the first half. Katy's D was spectacular. Shut down the run and the DB's stuck our wide receivers all afternoon. Great performance by Bo, found a weakness in our depleted secondary and exploited it well. Did just what a good quarterback should. And Aundre sure had some yards in the second half behind that monster line. Great job Katy. No doubts here on who was the better team today. Congratulations to Madison on a great season.

Thats the problem, tough districts have no indication on how a team will do in the playoffs. You can throw it out the window its irrelevant

Wait a minute. Injuries definitely hurt us in 2004, a little in 2005 and 2006. Injuries to your best players has a big impact in high school football. This is one year Katy has been blessed with avoiding the injury bug plus having depth at a lot of positions. Remember SA Madison had their #1 and #2 RB's out and still made the semis.

I meant mainly this year, and what I am hearing is that the difference was mainly depth at skill positions and luck. Is that a fair interpretation? :)

Fair enough. I thought what hurt SA Madison more was the lack of depth and they had a few players playing both ways. Their defense looked tired at the BEGINNING of the 3rd quarter!

First...congrats to Katy on a HUGE win...
Injuries to your best players have an impact at all levels of football...
Rarely have I seen the number of key starters drop for the season like this Madison team had...
I've always said that injuries and officiating are part of football...when they go against you...you just have to overcome the set backs...
What I saw different in this Madison team was that they played with heart...they had a 'can do' attitude coming into this game...
It is a sad thing to see ejections for a team that played to the level they were playing up to Saturday...
They clearly had never experienced the level of frustration Katy was to bring in the second half...
The second half thrashing by Katy may be a huge surprise to some...but not me...
While kids come and go...I've seen the Madison coach let this happen in playoff games time and again...
Katy coaches...like SV in recent years...made the correct adjustments at the half...history tells me our coaches are not so good at that...
Katy had a better game plan...made better adjustments...and had key players in the game...all this was too much for Madison...
I'm no good at the 'what if' game...even fully loaded...Madison may well have lost to this Katy team...
I do know that our other loss this year...was by 3...to Judson...in the first week after losing Devin Thomas...I believe they are off to a state title game...
Tradition also comes into play...Katy has a winning tradition...Madison has flirted with a 5a playoff run, on and off, for 27 years...never advancing beyond this round...a signicant mental barrier...without good coaching...
I'm probably all wrong on this...but it's how I see it...post-game...
The Madison kids are not as bad...at football or sportsmanship...as was seen yesterday...I look higher up the 'chain-of-command'...
Kudos to Katy...:notworthy
PS...I'll be in RED the rest of the year...
ROCKET RED...;)

Wow! Did anybody get the number to that bus? Very dominating football team.
Reminds me of that song..."Oh lord ..It's hard to be humble...when your perfect in every way"
I would have loved to have played ya'll with a healthy Madison team, and I'm not saying we would have won...but It may have at least been interesting. Madison hung tough for 1.9 quarters. Game plan for Katy was really good, they saw the deep ball was there right away, and executed their game plan almost to perfection. I personally love the way that Katy attacks all the time i.e. long ball just before half, I wish all coaching staffs thought that way and instilled that aggressive pattern into their kids when it comes to Championship Football. It does get some of the kids a bit to "cocky" like #30, but let's face it.....it's football not knitting..you almost need that cockiness.
One of the best HS Football teams ever ? I don't know, but one of the best that I have ever seen. The debate will go on, but I say Katy would have handed SLC their a$!. Anyway, I could go on but i won't, my wife is calling me to dinner....we're having crow! I would say I wish ya'll luck...but you don't need luck...ya'll just need the next victum!
To my Madison Mavericks... There is no way to tell ya'll how proud all the fans are of this football team! It was a great ride!

Just a few points:
1. Great game by the Katy tigers. You did what a good team does, take advantage of the team in front of you.
2. Sad to see a couple of Madison players leave a sour taste in everyone's mouth. :(
3. Madison showed for the first 23 minutes that they were every bit as good as Katy and gave them all they could handle. Unfortunately a game is 48 minutes.
4. Madison's defense finally wore out. Too many offensive injuries caused too many players to go both ways. Another defensive starter from SV game didn't suit up for this one.
5. Play of the game was the illegal forward pass. From my angle it looked like his foot was behind the line but that was, like I said, from an angle. If he runs he gets the first down and the drive continues. If it is a legal pass we have 1st down inside the 15?
6. Second play of the game, no safety help on last TD of first half. Totally unexcuseable. Totally deflated the team.
7. Too many turnovers. Defense cuases a three and out on first possession only for Madison to give it right back. First three TDs Katy only had to go about 110 yards. Average of 37 yards.
8. Great game again Katy and good luck next week. Although, I don't think you will need it. Team looks great. :D
9. Great season to the Madison Mavs. Hold ur heads up, you went somewhere only one other Madison team has. :D

OK before I ask this question I want to put out a disclaimer.............I was at the Judson game today watching our Rockets take it to NS so I ask this with no knowledge of the Mad/Katy game. But...............why did the score get so ran up? When Katy had a sure win why did they keep piling on? Did the coach at least put in the 2nd and 3rd string? Did Madison play so bad that scoring would have happened regardless who was in? This score seems a bit in your face:(

Madison is the Region 4 champs and is taking home some hardware. Theres no shame in that. And after playing 15 games im sure no team is 100% healthy
Actually Judson is about 99.9% healthy right now or at least I think :D

Madison defense just got worn out. Too many turnovers left defense on field too long. 2nd team didn't come in until the 4th qtr.

I was not at the game but listened to it on the radio. After Katy got up good Dean was taken out , then the next poss. Bo was taken out. From the commentators point of view the Mad. defense was just plain worn out. Katy pretty much just ran the ball up the middle and bold them over. The fact that Mad. turned the ball over on int's. gave the back ups a short field.
From the broadcast Katy did nothing short of kneeling with over nine minutes to go to show good sportsmanship.
Now this is a side note from years of watching Katy they are first class from band , to fans , to football team , you wll never have to worry about them doing something classless as running he score up.

You have to know that we know, Cy-Falls is just a hop, skip and jump away at any given time. We'll be looking for you next year. It would have been something to see your team play this team...but oh well, it didn't happen.

Katy scored last 2 TD's on a punt return and with the 2nd team. It could have been 85 or more if we were the type of team to run it up. By the way....Madisons 1st team O was on the field and scored on the Katy 2's and 3's with 3 or so minutes left. Might have been a good time to get some other kids achance to play in a State Semi game. Just a thought.

Katy's first team offense scored their last TD in the third qtr. That TD made the score 49 -14. After that, Katy ran back a punt to go up 56-14. On the next offensive possession, Katy put the starters on the field, but before the first snap, pulled Dean so he could come off the field to the fans cheers. On the next play, Mitchell (QB) was pulled and the fans cheered. After that, a lot of 2nd and 3rd string offessive players were put in the game. The last TD was by the second team. The FG was set up by a turnover, facemask, and personal foul penalty that set Katy deep in Madison territory.

What was the score of the SAMadison v Smithson Valley last week at the beginning of the fourth quarter (SV UP by how many points?) This is the playoff game for the State Final !...SAM's "sophomore who caught 4(?) TD passes against SV last week" was doing his best to make a game of it right up to the end. Our 2's, and 3's were the ones scoring at this end. Those personal fouls and player ejections DID NOT convince ANYONE to slow down!!!
SAM's Coach lost control of his players at the end, period.
Trivia question, "Who was it that took a knee at the end of the game instead of scoring a TD on the last play?"
...
Having said that, your QB #4 was doing all kinds of things that had us(parents) wondering what he what trick he'd come up with next. SAM's DL was a STONE WALL! I could see why you were 13-1. Your #8 and a bunch more I can't remember now stepped up. That was a 14-14 TIE; step for step, play for play. Toughest game I'd seen all year (and Pasadena Memorial was good).
Finally met some of your great neighbors in the lines before the games.:notworthy

Katy did not run up the score. They played with class and deserve nothing but the utmost respect from Madison Fans. I think they could have put the WATERBOY in and he would have scored. Madison was plain old worn out. Much to Katy's credit.

Nope. No running up the score yesterday. Our D was just wore out from all the TOs in the first half. They were on the field for the majority of the first half. That TD right before half shifted all the momentum to Katy. In the second half we came out fighting but flat. The Katy D was outstanding, and Dean was a horse. He hits the hole hard and accelerates extremely fast. Good luck to this young man in NCAA foosball. Katy your team was impressive, and showed it with an impressive win. Good luck next week and beat Pville. Bring home the title cuz you deserve it. See you next year on the second weekend of Dec.

LOL - never thought you'd say that did you;). Think about it though - the only games that Katy has played close in the playoffs the past 3 playoff seasons is Cy Falls and the Eagles are the only ones to have beaten them since that last loss in 2004. If you roll through your season next year - add 10 to that total and then, more than likely in the region finals (hopefully WE will be there too:p) then you are looking at 14 more - that's 42 games and only one loss to Falls...pretty impressive for both teams! And the past three years, the state finalist has been Katy, Cy Falls, Katy - our turn next year it appears;):).
By the way - saw some of the gang on Athletes Connection - was Mr. Fiend the spokesperson for the group - all up there in front and smiling that great smile of his. I see Tex needed some caffeine too- must have been early - and I know where you all were just by the cup she is holding! I love BUCCEES!!!
