Well for all of you who have said SLC has a weak non districtic schedule it looks like that will be rectified next year. SLC's marketing team is looking to get a network to show even more of thier games on national tv. This is the same network who represented Lee this year in setting up thier out of state games. Looks like Carroll will be playing an out of state powerhouse this next year, the only question is which team wants a piece of Carroll. heres the link to the DMN article. Article (http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/columnists/tmacmahon/stories/101605dnspohsquicktake.29be47e.html)

Quick take: Southlake Carroll games made for TV

10:50 PM CDT on Saturday, October 15, 2005

Southlake Carroll's marketing machine is clicking almost as well as its spread offense.

Five of Carroll's last 24 games have been televised regionally or nationally, including Thursday's 41-0 win over Denton Ryan. Count on Carroll continuing to get more exposure than the majority of non-BCS Division I-A programs.

Fox Sports Net Southwest televises the Class 5A state finals. Carroll, No. 1 in the state 5A poll, has advanced to the final in each of its three seasons in the state's largest classification. And high-profile regular-season matchups have recently found a niche on cable TV, with Carroll on the cutting edge of the trend.

Carroll, the defending mythical national champion, makes for great TV. The offense puts up PlayStation numbers, which won't change with coach's son Riley Dodge taking over at quarterback the next two seasons. It's storybook Texas high school football, a perennial power in a one-school town where boys grow up wearing green and dreaming about being Dragons. (Added bonus: Sideline interviews with NFL-exes watching their sons play.)

Carroll plans on maximizing the marketing opportunities. The school district is represented by the marketing company behind Tyler Lee's trip to Ohio for an ESPN game. Don't be surprised if Carroll agrees to play an out-of-state school with a national profile when setting its schedule this off-season.

i dont think this really means much. ultimately it's dodge's and the AD's decision, and dodge isn't really into all the hype of the national games. im sure he'll keep it simple

hopefully they wont get rid of the annual coppell game

consider strongly the source. timmy has been so wrong so often, he's pretty much a standing joke- like many more sportswriters than i care to think about.

Why go out of state for mediocre HS football when you can get all you can handle right here in the good ole Lone Star state.

Take Katy for example.......5 of our last 6 season openers have been against teams that have been to the state game or were state champions.

In 2000 Katy opened with a previous State Champion Tyler John Tyler and then met them again in the Div. 2 state game that same year.

In '01 Katy opened with TJT again.

In '02 Katy opened with the previous years Div. 2 State Champion, Lufkin.

In '03 Katy again opened with Lufkin.

In '05 Katy opened with The Woodlands who played in the '03 Div. 1 state game.

SLC might want to consider a season opener with the likes of Longview, Abilene, Lufkin, Euless Trinity, North Shore or heck, even Katy.

Why go out of state for hamburger.......when you can have steak at home?

I agree SmilinTiger, the Dave Campbell Kickoff classic has lost some of it's lustre and would rebound if teams like SLC, Longview, Eisenhower :) , Lufkin, Katy, Judson, etc. would play each other.

why travel to sa, when you can play the likes of trinity, plano(who knew), carter, imac, and garland for one hundredth the expense. travel expenses are going to be a big concern in the near future. if dodge had scheduled plano after their 0-10 season, he would have been held up to unholy criticism. that's the problem with 2 year skeds. you just never know what you'll end up with in 2 years. unless there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow deal, i expect slc'll stay close to home.

i rather just stay close to home like ddaddy said, theres no reason to really leave texas and plus theres no long bus ride

I also heard there is a talkshow in the works called "Late Night With Todd Dodge". He's going to interview celebrities, have musical guests, and do skits. There is even talks of getting Nate Newton to be his sidekick on the show.

I doubt Dodge and Carroll ISD would get rid of the Coppell game...

everyone loves kicking Coppell's ***!

But I don't know if Coppell ISD would want to continue a game like the Carroll game when they could get so much more out of a game that you can actually win.

However, if y'all end up in the same district again, they really wouldn't have any choice in the matter. I'm only hoping that they won't stick Jesuit in that district like they did for everything but football from 2003-2004! :D

the one thing i can say about SLC is that Dodge doesn't travel b/c he doesn't need to prove anything......make teams come to him......why not????

55-1, proof enough......how about Mission Viejo, would love to see that game.....would resemble a pinball machine :D :D :D :D

They'd schedule a home-and-home or two years at a neutral site, so Carroll would have to travel at least 1 of those years.

The game I'd really like to see is Carroll vs Bellevue. Carroll vs Mission Diego would be a close 2nd.

I think you mean Mission VIEJO.

I agree with those who think they should stay local. There's plenty of great teams around here. Trinity, Plano, Irving Mac, and we gotta have our Annual Coppell Beating.

P.S. This is officially my 100th post. I've been a member for some 3 months now, and it's taken me this long. I was hoping it'd be more glorious than this, but I'm glad to share it with all. Watch out D08, I'm coming for you...

there's almost no way it'll be a cali or a wash team. the only games i've ever heard him consider were with jenks or tulsa union. they wouldn't be much worse than a trip to abilene. if the money was right, look for one of them to show up.

Either that, or Sports Night with analysts Todd Dodge, Chase Daniel, Chase Wasson, and Aaron Luna. They'll even have that little football field that Lee Corso and Kirk Herbstreit use.

Don't forget about Trev Alberts...he needs a new job.

If we get a series going with a state, I'd like to see our teams play top Florida schools.
