View Full Version : Fajitas in San Antonio

What is the name of the place that claims to have invented fajitas some 80 years ago or something? I know about the original Taco Cabana, but this is a different place that says they did it much earlier than them. If my memory serves me, you sit at picknick tables and eat off of styrofoam. Does anyone have a clue what the name of this place is and where it's located? If not, where should I go for fajitas when I'm in town? I know a lot of people have opinions, but don't waste my time. I'll come back on the boards and trash you if you don't send me somewhere good.:D

No stereotyping, just hungry. I went there long ago and remember it to be a great place to go. Since one of my favorite places in Houston closed down, I just thought I would try to go back when I'm in town this weekend.

I didn't think fajitas were considered "Mexican Food?" Didn't they originate this side of the border?

I second that. The little hole in the wall places are soo much better, and a heck of a lot cheaper.

I seem to remember this place as a hole in the wall with paper plates and styrofoam cups. I don't think it was Mi Tierra, but this was probably 20 years ago so I'm sure things have changed since then.

What happened to Mi Tierra? It used to be the best. Now the service is rude, the selection is limited,....sad to see it change in this manner.
Its tough for me at least to recommend a place here in SA. We locals find our own little hole-in-the-wall, get to know the owners, and stay loyal. A good Mexican Restaurant will remember its regular clients and treat them like family. A good customer will tip appropriately and thank the service and cook.

If you just have to have fajitas go to any Mexican restarant in SA. Same as in Houston, Austin, or the Valley. But if you want great authentic mexican food, you have to venture off the main drag. Go to La Fonda's, Pico De Gallo's, Rosarios, or if you do not care what happens to your car in the parking lot, go to MK Davis Party House on Main where they serve ice cold beer in frozen schooners the size of wading pools....I wold bet the fans at Madison do not know where this SA icon is located!

If you want authentic 'Fajitas' in Texas go to the real Fajita people in Texas such as Goliad and not San Antonio where we almost lost everything. The real victory was won at San Jacinto. San Antonio is a Texas Tradional loser. Cross the line folks, learn the real Texas history.

Im done being and thinking on your immature level. Good luck to your team. I hope they win tomorrow. Your team is the giant killer, that wouldn't be still talking on this board if Dodge didn't go down, but hey things happen. I guess you guys got your xmas present a lil early. Good luck to the Eagles, and I am sorry you have such an unworthy person cheering for you.

Those loosers in the Alamo lost their life so you could call yourself a Texan... That's sad
