I believe the rankings come out Monday and it will be interesting to see where the teams fall. Throughout last week, there were some projections that had Texas debuting at #3 with Virginia Tech at #2, but projections tonight show Texas should debut with a decent lead at #2 with VT and Georgia in a lock for 3rd (slight edge to VT). There was a "BCS" expert the other day saying that it would be very hard for Texas to not be #2, but we'll see. The events of yesterday could change a lot as a lot of people are expecting Texas to pick up some points (and maybe a couple of 1st place votes) from USC.

Tech will be around 8-9 in the polls and will compete for a Top 10 BCS spot.

I say UT will be #2.

Texas and USC will get hampered by S.O.S. - Ohio State coming back and winning helped Texas a bit. You actually root for OU not to completely suck just to help Texas' point totals.

UCLA kicking butt in the Pac-10 helps Texas. UCLA beat Oklahoma.

Iowa doing good in the Big-10 helps Texas. Iowa St beat Iowa

Ohio St in the running for the Big-10 title gives Texas a major boost..

Texas needs to take care of business and just win their games and they will most likely be in.... :D

I still think Florida St & Miami will lose 2 regular season games (killing Va Tech) SOS.

I also think USC will slip up at least once during the regular season. :)

Espn insider predicts USC TEXAS 1, 2 in BCS come Monday.

1-USC
2-UT
3-VT
4-Georgia
5- Alabama
6-Miami
7-LSU
8-UCLA
9-Flor St
10- Tech

It would be hard for it not to be in that order...i know where Tech is in the polls but non conference wins over Indiana St, Sam houston, and Fla int'l are really going to hurt them, they will pay for their schedule in the BCS, and when they lose to texas that will be the last you seem them anywhere near the top 10.

Florida State's loss helped Texas because that weakened the ACC. FSU was a top 10 team. It also gives hope to Texas fans that Virginia can beat Tech when they play in Charlottesville and erase any debate between the two.

Florida St will lose again also.. in fact they may lose a couple of more games.
(Clemson, NC State and Florida) no way this Florida St team runs that table without another "L" or two.

They'll be out of the top #25 and really kill Va Tech (SOS).

Miami will get tagged probably 2 more times also..

Like I've been saying for weeks.. neither Florida St or Miami are legit Top #10 teams (living on past reputation) more than anything. I predict by Dec.1 both will be living around #19-#25 at best if not worse.

Boston College will get tagged also a couple of times to really kill the ACC.

PS. Nebraska killing of Wake Forest 33-3 is really showing more and more that the Big-12 is stronger.

Everybody has been down on the Big-12 (only because Oklahoma) is having a somewhat down year. But, when its all said and done.. The Big-12 aint that bad and the ACC is "over-rated!!"

I dont think Virginia Tech is the threat they once were (to Texas at least). It appears as though the polls (computers and human) are starting to pick up on the fact that the ACC is overrated. When you look at the numbers, Georgia poses more of a threat to Texas than VT simply because Georgia plays in a much better conference.

If the projections hold true, the first poll should show a slim margin between USC and Texas with a wider margin between Texas and VT. VT and Georgia will be seperated by the narrowest of margins.

Texas jumped from #8 to #2 in the Sagarin poll that was released Sunday which should give the Horns a very comfortable lead for #2.

Of the BCS contending teams, I thought Texas had the most impressive win of the week by a good margin. USC deserves credit for toughness at ND just like Texas deserves it for their win at the Shoe. However, Texas just pasted a Colorado team that came into the game hot. Texas made them look silly.

It's a shame that you have to think about what opponents opponents did to determine a championship game. If USC and Texas win out, they should stay 1,2 in both polls and even computers shouldn't keep them from roses.

Remember what they said last year about some obscure game giving OU the margin over Auburn for second place?

Hawaii vs. someone. I can't remember. Completely bizarre, but all of the money folks in control of college FB love it.

I think Texas will be fine if they take care of business. But, if Georgia and Va. Tech run the table - it will be very tight for 2, 3 and 4.

Texas has its hands full this Sat. with Tech. Of course, I said the same with the Buffs as well.

The only reason Auburn didnt play for the NC last season was because of their preseason rank. If they had not started so back at the beginning, they would have been the #2 team...

Auburn was #18 in SI's preseason poll last year.

They could have started lower than that in the AP....the only reason I knew they started 18th in Sports Illustrated is because I still have that issue in my desk.

Texas started the year #2...so if they win out...they SHOULD be OK.
