Well I knew that having a great day on OK state that he would not get his just due. 142 yds, 3 tds, one run for 40 yds. Come on guys this is college football. It does not matter what caliber team you are playing , you have to do your thing. He and Reggie had a great day, so give them credit for that, and quite being haters. I have not seen anyone talking about Daniels coming in and having a great day, heck he is at MIZZO and they are not going to play with the big boys. Congrats to Lane and Regggie and the AGGIES.

he'll be better than melton......maybe
he's got some serious skills....for sure
but honestly....i think melton won't be spending much more time at TB if the UT coaches are smart

There is a thread on the college section about Daniels. And he did do a great job of taking over and leading Mizzou to a win. From what I hear he will start next week also. But it may be a little early to tell.

He will be so much better than Henry Melton at UT....well, duh??? i think Texas is just a "little deeper" in the RB position than a&m is...Lane will used a heck of alot more than Melton---he's just about the featured back, is he not??? obviously, if you are getting more playing time, one would tend to think that you would be a little better than someone who is only brought in on 3rd and short or blocking plays for short yardage......why even the debate between Melton and Lane?? i just want to know who a&m has that can match up with Jamaal Charles???--LOL..........................

VB,
You need to take your own advice on hating. You took a "shot" at Daniel, after complain about hating on Lane. Announce that "this is college football" and then takes a shot at "Mizzo".
Considering Chase's performance for Missouri, today, it didn’t exactly make you look brilliant.
Oh BTW, congrats to Lane and Regggie on their game today.

Let's not get carried away (pun?) with Lane just yet. Lane ran over OSU, which is no great achievement. Let's just wait and see how Lane does against the Longhorns. I agree, however Lane showing much more than Melton at this time.

Yep, Malcolm also caught a 41 yard deep bomb. I'm telling you...this guys is gonna be something special at OU if they can find a QB to throw to him.

I told everybody at SFA Lane was better then Coutney Lewis and is shows. 22 carries 139 yards and 3 TD's. Lane by far is better then Melton. I cant compare Lane to Charles to different type backs. I am a Longhorn fan but I know what Lane can do and I played with him my whole life. IMO I would take Lane befoe I took Charles. Lane is big and fast and can catch the ball better then Charles. He just needs the chance like Jammall is getting to be the starter and watch A&M improve drastically

Wondering when the last time one high school was responsible for 7 td's in one game? Gotta be happy with the win and for Reggie and Jorvorskie.

Lufkin High West is going to be Coach Fran's grave yard if he doesn't get the program up to par with Texas.

Heck, he's gotta get up to par with Texas Tech -- not sure what they're missing this year - but I do wonder if Coach Fran is getting all he can from this group. I pegged an 8-4 or 9-3 year - no way that happens right now.

Henry Melton:
41 rushes for 214 yds, 5.2 ypc
Javorskie Lane:
43 rushes for 235 yds, 5.5 ypc
A little too early for sweeping comparisons, especially since you are basing them just on one game against the worst of the Big 12.

Well there was no comparison is hs that is for sure!! Lane was head and shoulders over Melton. I have said it many times but Lane is special!! The guy is just a scary specimen and i expect to see him in the NFL in the near future.

Meltons yds came in clean up duty behind Charles, Vincent and Selvin Young. Lane started a whole game. And for the guy who said Lane is better than Lewis, let's not get carried away yet.

A&M reserves Lane for wide loads at 265
By JEFF CAPLAN
Star-Telegram Staff Writer
COLLEGE STATION - The biggest misconception about Texas A&M's big freshman running back Jorvorskie Lane is just how big he is.
"I was 260 in high school," Lane said. "I don't know where they got 240 from."
The three Oklahoma State defenders Lane dragged into the end zone on the first of his three touchdown runs last Saturday must have felt duped.
Two hundred forty pounds? Get real.
"I was 204 in seventh grade," Lane said.
The A&M roster actually lists the 5-foot-11 wrecking ball at 235, a laughable measurement when standing toe-to-toe with the 18-year-old from Lufkin, who, for the record, said he weighs 265.
Nicknamed the J-Train, the true freshman's 22-carry, 139-yard performance in last week's bounce-back win against the Cowboys has suddenly added a hammer to the Aggies' spread-option offense.
Lane came off the bench and charged out of the I-formation and right through Oklahoma State's gut, providing a physical dimension missing in coach Dennis Franchione's first two seasons at A&M.
"We didn't have a power back in the past quite like him," Franchione said. "We put [Lane] in on the goal line, and like I tell him, 'You shouldn't need much blocking to get a couple of yards. You ought to be able to make them fall backwards for two.'"
Lane showed his value last week as more than a short-yardage option. Franchione said Lane's workload will grow regardless whether starting tailback Courtney Lewis remains out with what is believed to be an ankle sprain.
Lewis missed the past two weeks, and his status for today's game at Kansas State is undetermined.
A potential Lewis-Lane combo could throw a curve at defenses. Lewis and quarterback Reggie McNeal, A&M's leading rusher in an offense producing 238.5 rushing yards a game, bring speed to the outside in the option.
Lane provides a punishing, straight-ahead runner not seen at A&M since the days of heavyweight JaMar Toombs.
"It's like thunder and lightning," receiver Jason Carter said. "Courtney makes the moves, and Jorvorskie comes in and pounds on you."
Lane said other schools recruiting him wanted him as a fullback, a concept Lane wasn't buying. He resisted change once before, protesting a move to tight end back in the eighth grade.
A&M, Lane said, promised him it would put the football in his hands.
"The thing that helped us was Jorvorskie's offense at Lufkin was similar to ours," Franchione said.
"We could see him playing tailback and visually take that and say, 'OK, he can plug into ours very well.' Maybe some people might not have seen that."

I don,t know where that information came from but Lane did not weigh 204 in the 7th grade, nor does he weigh 265 now, I know he was at my house.
