If you missed the USC/Notre Dame game it was a classic. USC won on a qb sneak with no timeouts and 7 seconds left. Carroll is screaming for Leinart to spike it, kill the clock, kick the fg and move to overtime. Leinart sneaks it in anyway.

UT would have vaulted to No. 1 and been in the drivers seat for the BCS crown. Now, it remains USC 1, UT 2, most likely. Here's where it gets sucky for UT. Their opponents are stinking it up so bad it's hurting Texas in the point totals in the screwy BCS system. Virg. Tech or Georgia could conceivably move past them at some point -- even if the Horns run the table - leaving UT out in the cold with no shot at the Rose Bowl and USC.

Remember this game - a Trojan loss would have definitely left fate in UT's own hands. If UT can get in the title game - still alot of fb left - - USC can be beat - that it is for sure - they are just not as good as last year.

I was going nuts. I didn't see the ball pop out until the replay.
I was yelling "why are they talking?...it's over...it's over"
After the replay...I knew USC would score. You can't give Matt the
ball at the 6 inch line...it's money in the bank.

God they would have been awesome.

Texas is the better team of the two. Mark my words...

Carroll yelling to down the ball was all window dressing stuff. Leinart and Coach Carroll knew the whole time he was going QB keep it.

USC has to be the luckest damn football team in America.

OS. Why that Notre Dame "DB" decided to let that WR run past him on 4th & 9 is mind boggling.

That was one of the best college football games I've ever seen. What the heck was up with the spot at the end though? Shouldn't the ball have been placed at the 3 or 4 where it flew out of bounds?...SC surely would've kicked a FG if the right spot was made. Also, it's nitpicky, but isn't it illegal to push someone into the endzone...watch the replay of Leinart's TD sneak...Bush gave him a nice shove. Oh well, what a game!

I would rather beat USC to take the #1 spot anyway.

I said the same thing kt...
It is illegal to push someone into the endzone.
And I ...like you...want Texas to beat USC and knock them out of the #1 spot.
But that team is not the best in America...sorry...but it's true.

I agree with you 100%. They're getting by because they seem to be able to just flip a switch and turn it on when they want to, but I think (hope) that's going to catch up with them at some point. They haven't been consistent at all.

What a great birthday gift for me, Pete Carroll.

That was the biggest load of crap I've ever seen. I'm gonna go drink away my woes because the refs and media love USC sooo much. Why they didn't do the right thing and spot the ball where it went out of bounds is beyond me...

If/when Charlie Weis gets the players to actually get the job done, it's gonna be VERY scary for the rest of the ncaa.

Oh another thing, that kicker of ND needs to have his balls hazed.

I missed the whole ball spot thing - I saw him go air and the ball went straigth sideways at the 1 inch line - but like you guys I completely missed it until the replay - terrible TV job on that last few seconds - totally clueless. I think the qb sneak was legit - but they stuffed his first effort - if they could have just hung on his forward progress would have been snuffed out - oh well - lucky, lucky for USC - they still play Cal at Cal - then hopefully Texas.

Do any of you think this could effect the BCS poll? Just pointing out that in the Harris and ESPN polls UT is closer to USC than VT is to UT. Plus, you gotta figure Ohio St could creep up into the top 10 which would give UT a hand...I've looked at it really close and it should be a close race between UT and USC at the top followed by Georgia and V-Tech

I think this week will help Texas in the BCS if the computers were watching the games this week. ACC drops a notch this week and Texas' domination of a Colorado team that hung with Miami until they self destructed. NCSTATE pretenders. FSU pretenders even if they comeback to beat VA. I think that right now Texas Tech might be the best team in the ACC, Second for sure if they played in that conf. Looks like they are second in the Big12. Looks like a push on strength of schedule to me.

God this BCS crap is getting old...I hate this...it's stupid.
The formula is stupid...the whole thing is garbage.
PLAYOFFS....THEY NEED PLAYOFFS...
but that is an entirely different thread....

Tx Tech would beat Florida St and Miami. 100% no doubt about it. Tx Tech would give Va Tech a very good game but Va Tech might be slightly better overall.

The Texas vs Tx Tech game is huge !! Tx Tech should be about #10th this week. If Texas takes care of business and beat Tech. The Pts will be huge for them. That would be 2 top #10 teams (Tx Tech and Ohio St) plus knocking off #24 Colorado.

a matchup with probable future #18-#22 (Nebraska or Colorado would loom in the Big-12 Title game.

Honestly I hope Nebraska can run the table now and finish up about #18th for the Big-12 Title game.

First.... Texas needs to take care of Tx Tech are all is mute points!!!

but that is an entirely different thread....

Take all the polls.... get the overall Top 4.

#1 vs #4 = #1 homefield
#2 vs #3 = #2 homefield

Rotate the Nat'l Championship game (Rose, Orange, Fiesta & Sugar) each year.

That's the best formula and I've been saying it for about 5 years now.

Sure team #5 and #6 would cry... but honestly each year there is only about 3 to 4 teams that can honestly say they might be the best !!!

PS.. Do away with Conference championship games unless every BCS Conference is going to have one..

Tech is sick wit it, and i think they will beat UT and make all of u sob in your own tears. Their passing game is unstopable and i will never be convinced that it isn't. But if Texas pulls that game out i will have some respect for them, but until then, Frick UT. Go Tech.

Interesting post... Everyone knows TT can score, nobody is going to say otherwise. The problem with TT is their defense... Tech's offense scores so fast most of the time, the defense doesnt have time to rest... and people are unsure about whether Tech's defense can stop VY and the rest of UT's potent offense... should be a great game, cant wait.

It's going to be interesting.. I think Texas is going to try and do alot of ball-control and keep Tx Tech offense on the sideline.

Cant wait to see it... if Texas wins this game. Looks out !!

Oh, and then as if they couldn't possibly pour more salt on the wound, analysts everywhere are debating whether or not Texas will even meet USC at the championship game! Why, you may ask? Because the remainder of Texas' schedule doesn't call for "challenging" games.

Unless I am mistaken, if you are ranked No. 2 in the nation, then as far as I'm concerned your only challenge is whoever is No. 1.

TheProphet

the games arent challenging because TEXAS is playing them...no one out of the top 10 -15 will be challenging, determining SOS is bogus...but it wont matter texas has a HUGE harris poll lead, they will be #2
