I would have to respectfully disagree that the "worst injury" would have to be a "game costing" injury. That would be RD injuring his shoulder.

I was thinking the same thing....I would say that it was the injury that costed slc the end of their season.

Final category, our MVP, the nominees are
1) Riley Dodge- what a competitor and winner. Saw that kid Williams coming at 'em and didn't flinch, there was 6 points to be had. I can't believe how his great career actually ended on the gridiron
2) Derek Tomlin- I wish this kid life success and I'll get it. On defense, he looked for ways to keep his mates on top, even when it went bad. Away from the ball, when no one was watching...Dragon!
3)Jake Jackson- ever hear about or see a guy get around him on a key play? No way, he silently made noise at a quiet position:confused:
4) All wide-outs- Best foursome since the Beatles!
Thanks everybody, drive safe and see you next year!

How about some unsung heroes, gd. It's kind of odd, but on a team loaded with stars, there were plenty.
For instance... if you go watch a game not knowing anything about the team, you'd be impressed like heck with David Stoltzman and Jared Freeman to name two... but they didn't get the media or message board chatter to match their performance.

Good point, Oak... the draggie for the most unsung teammate, the nominees are...
!) # 36 Dave Stoltzman, he was often confused with #35 as he closed in on the ball.
2) #10 --J Freeman- who do we compare him to? Wes Welker?
3) Jeremy Gray- as holder on Xtra points, he was there...
4) Kyle Padron- no warm-up time, kid, just get in there and perform!
There are others, Acton, McWhirter, Bealls, Carroll, Maynard, Jameson, Wicklund..., and that doesn't include those position coaches

I'd have to add Jackson Richards. At the end of the season he was really getting to the QB and great vs the run... can't wait to see him next year.

The Phantom was spectacular! The voices, sets, music, and Chandalier were all phantastic!
My brother in Abilene asked me how Southlake was after the loss and I told him that we were shocked but were heading to see the Phantom of the Opera!

Glad it went well. You mentioned the chandelier and the sets. Was it comparable to the original? Who played the music. Was it the SLC Orchestra and Band?
DragonFan
12-07-2007, 09:49 PM
it was very comparable. The only mistake that I could see is one time the sets did not go on mark as easy as they should have and the stage hands had to manhandle it a little while the performace was going on. That was lost because the music and voices were so dynamic that if it was not for the fact that some of the actors had to squeeze by a door before the set was in place you never would have noticed the stage handlers.

the only complaint i've got about the phantom of the opera performance is the 4 bottles of beer that exploded when that young lady hit the 14th upscale of her falsetto:D

I went tonight, it went great. Only thing I really noticed was the curtain being messed up during act 1, but its not a big deal.
As far as the music... a professional orchestra was hired (play the strings) and then we have Southlake kids playing clairnets, percussion, trumphet, basson, etc. My gf, who plays the clairnet, said today and sunday were the best two so far. Like some spots were a lot better today compared to sunday and vice versa. And that guy was there like someone mentioned. I was in the band hall with her after the performance, and he walked in and talked about how it went well, how he can tell their having fun, etc. It was good stuff.

Look in my post above this one about the music..
As far as the sets, they look similar, so says my gf..she went up to NY over the summer and saw the orignal. Obviously the orignal was much better in terms of effect, acting, transtions, etc.

Maybe yall could send your Drama teacher to New York and he could give Andrew Lloyd Webber some pointers and teach him your system, and then they could be in contention for a National Championship too.

Well of course. But it also sounds like your people did a great job. Matter of fact, the Phantom of the Opera site did a feature on it and it had links to a couple of pictures. Looked very impressive. I wish I'd have saved the link.

Regarding the Phantom, I sat next to a theater teacher/fan who had seen many performances of the Phantom around the world. There were parts of Carroll's production that he felt were better than the touring group he saw at Fair Park, including the singing of the Phantom and the spectacular "underground" set. Unbelievable performance--feel fortunate to have bought tickets before they were gone.
