I'm going to beat Scooter to a scoop about Port Arthur!

Jamaal Charles won the 110 and 300 hurdles at state.

Clint Renfro finished 2nd in the 300 hurdles.

Katy Cinco Ranch won with 57 points.

26-5A had 3 of the top 13 teams, with Madison in 4th and Reagan and Judson tied for 13th. 13th is pretty good, but it's hard to accept since they always send so many people to state and don't get points in a lot of the events. The Judson girls are the same and got 18th.

the high jump was a little bit tainted.....the favorite from Cinco went down with a hammy pull...nobody was gonna beat him....since nobody at the olympics beat his mark for the year.

but hey...thats the way it goes...congrats to Mr. Long

Congrats to all the performers in the state meet. cinco really gutted it out in the relay against the Ike Eagles.

Ike won the 400 meter relay and performed solidly at the meet.

Copperas Cove sent Donald Buckram for the 100-meter dash and thr 4x200 meter relay.....buckram was injured this week in football practice so he went in less than 100%....he finished 8th with a time .42 seconds slower than his qualifiying time....the relay time was DQ for a mishandled baton.....and Jamall Charles set the best time in the nation this year for his effort in the 300 hurdles which his time was .14 seconds better than the previous time from a athlete in Georgia.....

Congrats to all the yound athletes that competed.....

You can't go wrong with the price they charged to go to the meet. You had 170 events over a 2-day period to sit back and enjoy.

Can't believe this thread hasn't been kicked to the "off topic discussion"?? Last time I tried to talk about track, the thread was sent packing.
I didn't notice any Owls at state meet representing? Noticed several boys from their rival school SG posting top (3) performances in 100, 200, 400 and discus. Huh?

The state meet is a big deal and they didn't really give a place for track, anyway.

Congrats to all. I was especially proud of Sabrina Taylor. Shattering a 22 year old record by 3 inches in the long jump was awesome.
