View Full Version : Garland 24 North Garland 6

The Owls sleepwalked through an uninspiring 24-6 beating of North Garland. They played like they did not want to be there for much of the game. They had nice drives at the start of each half, and the defense played well throughout, but the team just did not seem to be with it.

I am happy for the win - in our district, everyone is pretty competive (see Lakeviews shellacking of Sachse) - however, they played like the thought the win was in the bag regardless of how they played. Turns out that they were right. However, they will need to play much more inspired football over the next two weeks. Sachse will come in next week feeling that they have something to prove after losing two straight district games. And the Rowlett game will be for the district title.

We won, and that is good, but this team is going to have to step it up several notches if they want to be playing past week 11.

I believe they can. I hope they prove me right. GIG 'EM OWLS!

Tonight's game was one of the slowest that I have been to EVER! There were too many penalties called which put North almost halfway down the field w/out even running a play. The coaches made a decision to take out first string and put in second string when we were up by seven points, then North scored a touchdown. There were some great hits from Murphy and Antwine "The Beast", that really made the game a little more interesting for a brief, very brief, period of time.

The key to the game was a steady, clock control offense and a tight defense.

A defensive stat that glares at you: Donte (sp) Bean, the all world RB for North had a touchdown run against the second team defense of 31 yards. For the night he was 13 runs for 31 yards. He was 12 for 0 yards other than the TD run. Pretty impressive.

Good point, when our starting defense was in they were verrry dominant! However, when the scrubs were in we struggled. I think our first string is good enough to win in the playoffs, but if we try to get cute our second string cannot win us any games. We're missing our playmakers on offense (Sloan, Malcolm) but we still put some nice drives together. I still like Greg at QB. 4 TD's against Namaan, 1 or 2 against South, 2 last night, hes playing well.

When you are in the playoffs and you have a "starter" get hurt you do not want their back up to be inexperienced. This was the perfect game to let some players get some experience. Also how much did you want Rowlette coaches and players to see. They were off and I think the whole Rowlette football team and coaching staff was at the game.

Also maybe some punishment for the penalties against South. Some of those starters to sit the bench. HUM HUM

Speaking of scouting, (oops, wrong thread) have you ever seen a scouting report have a more obvious effect on a game. Evidently the Owl coaches decided they would rather give away fifteen yards on every kickoff rather than give them the chance to run one back. And they would rather go for it on fourth and ten at their 40 than punt to them. North must put on quite a show when they get the chance.

Nope, just giving back recognition to someone else who OBVIOUSLY knows something about HS football, which is a trait that is all too lacking around here. :D

I don't take it as @ss kissing. But I do appreciate responses other that require some insight and thought and not just opinion.(Especially when those thoughts seem to mesh with mine)

No problem.

Don't mind Rough, he's an OK guy, he's just the one, actually, who is the experienced rump kisser. See his team is probably out of the playoffs now, like they were ever in, and now he's having to go back to the South people and bottom kiss to get back in their good graces so he has a team to cheer for the second week of November. :D

Rough is OK. he's just "home team challenged". :D :D

Garland has one of the top defenses in the state this year. They have good size and they are fast. No suprise they shut North Garland down.

the "all-world" RB that you speak of from NG---was he the one that we were popping all day long last season?? just curious how long he has been starting...if it's the same guy, he should still be feeling the effects of those hits that he received from the Longview defense---man, that was vicious!! not to mention the score---goodness!! although, i can't seem to remember the RB for NG or the score--i just know that it was pretty high........congrats to Garland on the "W", signed, Bleedgreen....your Owl/Lobo buddy from the East.......................

my goodness!!! you mean that he is STILL walking and talking??? that's a miracle!! yea, it was pretty sad to see the torture last so long----and man, was i bored!!! have to say that i liked it, though..especially after the comments made against my team from some NG players on Fox 4 News and in the Dallas Morning News.....love to watch people eat(or choke) on crow pie!!--LOL................where are you Mr. Black Sedan?? hadn't heard from you all season?? NG not doing it for you this season, or what?????

I was dissapointed when I got to the stadium... I wanted to sit on the visitors side with the L'View fans, but I had to settle for that "crowd" NG brought... the home crowd cant even fill half the stands... was kind of pathetic.

it was pathetic!! we brought about 10 times the people they did and they cram us into the small side of the stadium...would have loved to be on the home side and have a little more room..............

Hey Bleedgreen, Black Sedan graduated his last kid last year and his wife passed away from cancer this summer, so he hasn't been very active with anything. I don't think he's even read this board since last winter. He's still a big Owl fan as I get random mass emails he sends to his aquaintances from time to time, but he hasn't been to a game all year. I think he just misses not going with his wife.

I've delivered his mail off and on, for over 21 years, and that is how I met him.

He did love to trash talk, didn't he?
