I heard that later today, Robert Griffin will announce he is changing his commitment to Baylor.

If this is true, the kid really needs to get a dictionary out and look up "commitment."

Not suprised that he's following Briles.

He is doing what other 'non-binding' early commits will eventually do...change their commitment. Plus, these kids just follow the lead of the coaches who change their commitments as well.

the kid is 17-18 years old. he made a decision and changed his mind. give him a break. I bet there are things we all wish that we would have been able to change or wish we would have went down a different road, right? i don't think that there is anything wrong with that. they could have easily pulled their commitment from him as well. Good luck, Rob, wherever you go.

So no one is allowed to change their mind? If coaches can change their minds, kids can do it as well. We've all changes our minds at one time or another.

Everybody knew his commitment was to Art Briles and not the University of Houston. If Briles was still there Griffin would be too. All he's doing is following the coach he wanted to play for in the first place.

It's not like he's going around telling everybody "I'm still going to Houston" and then changing his mind on signing day.

I don't have an issue with a kid theat follows a coach, especially with Griffin being a QB, and well, Briles is pretty decent with the offensive side of the ball...

I think it's pretty stand-up of the kid to tell everyone now, so UH can still react.

I think we will see several kids change their verbal and sign with Baylor. Briles will make Baylor a 'not-so-fun' game on the big boys schedule.

Im pretty sure what also helped his commitment is the baylor track team, cuz i think he is at track, then football. best in the nation in the hurdles

It's been a wild and crazy year in the college ranks and I think it's going to continue into the recruiting battles. With all the coaching changes around college football, I can't help but think that it's gonna jumble up the recruiting picture as well, especially with coaches changing schools, i.e. Briles, Nutt, etc.

Good for him. If he doesnt want to play football at the University of Houston I dont want him.

He was never committed to Houston, just to Art Briles. And get off Griffin about the commitment bullcrap. Tons of kids every year jump ship on schools, not just Griffin

He has every right to change his commitment, especially after his coach left. That is why it is also called non-binding, a verbal. Give the kid a break.

Sorry, I was just a little angry at all the crap going on. Didn't mean to take it out on him, but it happens.

Either way, it's nice to see all the Cove people show up. Sorry for the rash posting...

alot of kids commit because of the coach, some commit based off one trip during an official visit, others commit because they get boxed in during the early period and are pressured to hold a scholarship while others take the cash and run with it....

in this case...the kid went with familiarity in the coach and now he gets to play in a bigger conference...its amazing how a kid is thrown to the ashes when he changes his mind...now you see why he committed to UH...

You Coogs should be the last one talking...in the 60s yall had a lot of tactics to steer kids away from schools they were supposed to attend...

As a Baylor grad, Briles and Griffin is great news. We could use some help. We've had our pocket picked plenty of times. Last year, we had TT take OL Lonnie Edwards from us late in the recruiting process, plus QB Gary Joe Kinne Jr to UT. Both were committed to us and GJK jr had even done his BU commitment on FoxSW.

Ummmmmmmmmmmmm..........no. According to Dave Campbell, he has also de-committed and made the switch. That is my only source, have not asked his mother.

It was Houston's bad luck that Baylor fired their coach this year. All that followed is only normal and usual behavior for people who are looking to their own futures, after all.
