Check out these revised enrollments from the UIL website. I thought they used the figures from the last realignment through this season, but the link says "5A Enrollment (revised 8-5-05)" and the heading says "2004-06 Official Football District Alignment".
San Marcos...........1975.5
Schertz Clemens..1736
Seguin..................2134
In fact, Clemens is now listed with the smallest enrollment of all seven schools in 25-5A. Does anybody know if these new figures apply to this season's playoffs, as the heading on the UIL page suggests? Or will the old numbers still apply, leaving Clemens in D1?

They will use this years revised # and the Buffs will be D2! I'd rather see them in D1! I know there are some really good teams in D1 but if you look you will see that every year the overwelming majority of the top 10 teams are in D2! You also have to play the extra game to get the title in D2.

San Marcos might actually have a chance to win the Region if they go Division I.....I bet they are happy about that.

Check out the projected bracket in D1 again.

Five out of the top 10 are in D1, including the top 3 and four of the top 6. And the 5 that are in D2 are all in REG 2, so that means only one of them could make the finals!
Which is the way to go again? :D

Except Seguin would be the D1 rep.

I don't think they will...Clemens, SM, and Seguin are the 3 best teams in that district.

East Central going to edge them out? :D

No way San Marcos goes Div. 1. We're the smallest kid on the block......well, except for the mighty shrinking Buffaloes. :)

Anybody know what's up with E. Central all of a sudden? They gave Seguin all they could handle and tonight they won HUGE.

Has EC played the Rattlers yet?...maybe they can edge out Seguin...

rattlerbacker, I saw another of your posts where you pointed out that 3 starting linemen made their way back and made a huge difference. What else can we look for? Did the offense change much with the new coach?

NO WAY. :p Seguin is not as stout on defense as last year, but they will take care of business.
Clemens
San Marcos
Seguin
ARE the teams in 25-5A, but you knew that. I suppose the deserve that shot by playing the Hornets so close.

Only minor changes in the offense. San Marcos and East Central played 3 weeks ago. It was 2 starters on the O-line, not 3.

Are all the starters still healthy after that tough game last night? LOL I read in the paper that it was a really close game (the first 20 seconds or so). I simply don't understand how Highlands, Jeff, and Southwest cannot field a better team.

That won't happen. The district is too bad for them to not make the playoffs.

Judson still has the same enrollment figures and they're smaller than the reported 4800 something. It looks like Clemens didn't want to play Judson after all. Considering how bad Judson's offense is, I'll take 3 extra weeks to get ready for the semis if they can possibly make the playoffs.

Lonny, I have not got the slightest clue on why they filed the petition to go with this years numbers. But, I'll tell you this, it isn't because the buffaloes are afraid of Judson as you are trying to make it seem! I'll admit that CJ stomped our guts out last year in the playoffs, but that is the first time in the last five years that it has not been a close game. Beleive it or not, Clemens does not fear Judson anymore!

A campus can choose to exclude their special students from their UIL enrollment.

Why the heck are Clemens 5a. If i'm not mistaken isnt that the smallest enrollment for a 5a team. Pflugerville Connally in 4a has darn near 100 more students than Clemens.

Because we had a new HS open this year that took about 700 or so of our students. We will be back in 4a next year.

I think Carter has a smaller enrollment. For years Zapata which has a 3a enrollment was competing in 5A because of travel expenses.

Some of the Laredo schools have enrollments in the 1500s.
Strake Jesuit has a listed 836 students, but that's all guys, so it's doubled. They also have received around 400 New Orleans Jesuit students. Dallas Jesuit has 999 listed, doubled to 1998. We only received 80 Jesuit NOLA students, so we've got the smallest actuall enrollment. But that's all guys, so some schools (though very few) have smaller athlete bases to pick from.
Several schools choose to play up in classification. Carter probably has the best sports program of those schools.

I think its very inaccurate that Clemens be classified as DII because even though they only have 1700 students, Im sure that all Clemens juniors and seniors that were going to compete in varsity football this year were given the option to play at Clemens HS (even though they might live in Steele HS attendance zone). SO technically they have the varsity talent pool of 2400 students. Oh well, I guess somehow the UIL deemed it fair.
