Longview put Leander away late. Pflugerville stops a two point conversion to seal the victory against Carter.
Who ya got and why?

I like Longview's chances since they beat Carter week 4 50-18 (could have been 70-18 easily) and Pflugerville barely sneaks by Carter.

I know w/each win, there is more confidence for the Lobos...they are mighty right now...however, I think it's pretty easy to see that at this stage of the game, nobody is going to have a cakewalk...the teams left standing are still there for a reason...they've found a way to keep winning themselves...sounds like it's going to be another hard fought battle
I still like the Lobos chances, however & I will pick them as always:D

Carter got their QB back late in the season..after that, they went on a tear...definitely not the same team we played...
Everybody just needs to remember that Pflugy dominated a Klein Forest team that knocked Lufkin out...

Can anyone tell me about their D?????
When we spread their D during our first scoring possession I noticed that they had problems. We probably picked up 8 yards per play on that drive. We pretty much went away from that, and to the WingT for the rest of the game until the last 4:00 minutes of the game when we found ourselves in a hole.
We couldn't bulge their D in the WingT, but we moved very well in the spread with both running and passing. Too bad that that's not what we do!

I think this game will be very very similar to the game Longview just had against Leander.
Tough, grueling game that will come down to which team can stop the other the most.
Hopefully, once again, it's Longview. Give em hell Lobos!

We played both teams this year, and judging from both games I feel Longview will win this one. I did see where someone tried to use the 50-18 score, but that was without our playmaker Jarvis Phillips as well as several starting O linemen. We made some early turnovers that wouldn't happen in a rematch, although I feel Longview would have still beaten us, but not how they did.
I'll say Longview by 10 points!!
But who knows?

sorry, bro...just going by what I got out of news media in your area...you're passing is a lot like LVs though, you only average about 65 yds a game...

Is it true that the Longview administration forgot to reserve Texas Stadium this Saturday which is why the game is in Waco? I read in your paper last week that we were going to play you at Texas Stadium. Worked out well for us as it saved us about 2 hrs. of driving time and we are very comfortable at Waco ISD.
The Pville Nation has much respect for Longview and East Texas Football. Much of our experience has been aginst Lufkin. We didn't play our best game Saturday especially at the end. We were up 20-6 late in the 4'th and our kids forgot to finish the game and all hell broke loose. I know y'all beat Carter handily so you should be favored in our game. We like this position and look forward to a tough game.

Everyone on here is underestimating us, I mean we beat tough teams early in the playoffs, In the Dallas Carter game, the refs would not call ANYTHING. we hit a guy who was headed out of bounds b/c he was scared to get hit, and they call that but they dont call a face mask when they did it twice. The refs were scared to call stuff on Carter, Wasnt a big deal, I mean MAN UP! We came out with the win 20-18 oh well, we gotta get ready for Longview. I will tell you this though, our coaching staff has matured since our last loss against Round Rock in week 10. Were not a cocky team, we go to play and we hope to win. Were tough, but we dont give up. Yes we lost to Leander by 1 point in the beginning of the season, loss to Stony Point and out last loss was against Round Rock BIG DEAL. Were going to work hard this week to prepare for the Lobos. I garuntee you all we will step up and keep making history for our school!

Hey, Leander never gave up. The game was still in question well into the 4th quarter. And ask Leander if all LOBOS have is a running game. They were passing into a 25 mph wind. Ya'll do have something that Longview doesn't have: a 6-man history. LOL

If the game was at Texas Stadium, Longview would drive 127 miles to 184 for Pville. Due to someone's screw up at LV, y'all will now drive 213 miles to our 92 miles. I hope this isn't the best thing about the game for Pville. We expect to be huge underdogs this week and that is just fine with us. Pville has not played its best game yet. We can pass just haven't had to yet. You will see.

cajun, I'm not sure on the exact numbers, but Leander hasn't been playing football quite as long as Longview. Longview has been playing football since the 1890's. But, it's been recognized by the UIL since the 1920's. It was still a shock to not see more people at the game for Leander. The Lobo fans BLEED green during the playoffs. Sadly we can't get more people to show up for all of the home games, but we get them for the big games (JC, Lufkin, Evangel in the past, etc.) Longview's fans travel very well, the deeper we go, the more there might be at the games. At least in Waco we'll get the Home side, so we'll have a little more room for our fans.

The school has been around since the 1870s, I believe 1875 was the first year for a "Longview High School". The football team begain in 1909, originally called the demons, changed to the Lobos in the early 1920s, from a dog that used to come to practice. If I read the story right, it's been several years since that story was in the paper. The band has been around since, I believe 1925, as far as I can tell from yearbooks, and has been a winning tradition since the post-WW2 1940s. Not too many schools can claim a history like that. I KNOW there are some in Texas, but not many. Maybe 10, including Longview? That might be overestimating. And I'm talking at the 5A level, I know there were schools at lower classifications that have been around a long time.

Longview's success in football came in the 1967 season and ever since then, they've been on a roll (still without a State Title though).
The 20s and 30s they were just as good but the 40s, the 50s, and the 60s were terrible when it came to Lobo Football.

Let's not start blaming refs for non-calls! We lost, and you still didn't see any Carter fans on here discussing the onside kick that we recovered, and the judge in the endzone that was 45 yards behind the play called us for an illegal procedure penalty, and the officials right on the ball didn't see it. You didn't see us complaining about the holding call when we scored the TD with 30 seconds remaining.
Why? Because they are real people. I really hope you don't think Carter would get preferred treatment, because that would never happen. There were some very questionable calls on both sides, but the ones called our way seemed to be the more crucial ones. We should have put ourselves in a better situation where the penalties wouldn't be a factor!
Don't be a sore winner!

This is very interesting to me since it's coming from a Pflugerville fan talking about a Leander team (Leander has 6 wins vs pville over the last 7 years). Leander did anything but give up in this game. Longview's second half adjustments were obviously outstanding and they came out in the 2nd half a new team. Pville can win this game, although it seemed as if Longviews run defense was outstanding against Leander (besides a 72 yard td run by Hodges). But one thing about Longview that i don't think Pville has seen yet from any team, is that Longview has athletes to the same caliber in virtually every position. It seems like Pville has hands down the best athletes everytime they've touched the field, but it will not be the case against Longview. I will repeat, it wouldnt completely shock me if Pville won this game, but i predict a score along the lines of this.
Longview 35
Pville 24
Close game for the majority of the game with Longview pulling away late. Their D seemed to make key stops against Leander time and time again when it REALLY mattered, and i expect the same against Pville.
LETS GO PVILLE... REPRESENT 14-5A.

I based my opinion on the fact that i think that Pville and Leander were basically even teams this year, and that Pville will look at the Longview Leander tape and make better halftime adjustments than Leander did. But then again, adjustments may be a bit too much to ask for good ole coach Herm ;).

Give me the real skinny on our chances against Longview if you saw your game against Longview. Also, was there anything about Pville that you were impressed with like our punter, OL, defense etc.?
First of all, look at the teams that beat Carter: John Tyler(this is the game we lost our QB), --then w/o qb Plano(still playing), Longview(still playing), Mesquite(lost to plano), w/ qb Skyline (still playing),Pflugerville(still playing).
As you can see the schedule was tough!! And it made the team grow.
I was impressed with your backs and your o-line. I thought your defense was solid but it wasn't better than Plano, Mesquite, or Skyline's. Nevertheless, your safeties are on point!
Honestly, I think Longview will this game. But the game has to be played on the field.

I based my opinion on the fact that i think that Pville and Leander were basically even teams this year, and that Pville will look at the Longview Leander tape and make better halftime adjustments than Leander did. But then again, adjustments may be a bit too much to ask for good ole coach Herm ;).
Much respect for the Leander program and fans from what I saw last year, but I believe Longview has it together this year.

If anyone thinks Longview just has a running game is dead wrong this season. Yes, in the past that's all we had, but we've developed a decent, not totally great but decent, passing game to go with our outstanding run game. You can stop the run up the gut, but we'll turn the corners on you. Or we'll throw over the top to make you respect the pass, then we'll run it down your throat. It will be an interesting game. I'm pulling for the Lobos, but as long as it is a good, clean game, I'll be happy. I don't think Pflugerville has seen a team quite like Longview's this year.

Longview will look at Leander/Pflugerville game which was on Fox Sports and probably had scouts at Carter/Pflugerville game also. The coaches have changed up well to play against opposing teams weaknesses and have shown the ability to adjust during halftime. Longview has been a strong 2nd half team especially during the playoffs. To say Pville and Leander are basically even may sell Pville short since Leander lost by 19. Longview will not take Pville lightly you can guarantee.

i'm not trying to sell Pville short. If you saw the game on fox sports net, you saw two evenly matched teams in Leander and Pville. Leander just didn't quite make the halftime adjustments that they had been making all season (as Leander is usually a second half team as well). The announcers were saying that Leander was selling out against the run and was giving the outside recievers one on one coverage. This ended up burning us on the first drive of the 2nd half REALLY bad. I think Pville should make better adjustments if Coach Herm of Pville can grasp that.
ohhh and The difference between us and Leander, we dont give up. We fight til the end. All yall have is a running game. We got everything. History for us isnt over

Joe, let them play the run all night, we will make them pay through the air, until they respect the pass, then we'll take them apart with the run. Just like we did with Leander. They were stacking the line, we finally made them back off some and respect the pass, then we took it to them with the run again. We don't just have the run this year. Yeah, the passing isn't always crisp or accurate, but we're not a one dimensional team anymore. The Lobos have mixed it up a lot better this year than I've seen ever.

1) How should they have beaten us? Sorry but when you give up 451 yards, you're going to lose. Not to mention, 309 rushing yards with over 200 of them coming on the hands of one running back. Longview beat Leander because of the way they spread the ball around and shut down the Lions offense, both of which Pflugerville did not do when they played Leander.
2) Sorry, but the rest of the State of Texas could care less about the rematch your two teams wanted to see. Hell it seems like half of Austin could care less.
3) Congratulations on beating Dallas Carter by two points, too. That surely beats Longview, beating the Cowboys by 32.

Since when is high school football about how many fans we brought to a game? I thought the important thing was the result on the field. And just for what it is worth, if Leander were to have played Pville in a rematch (at probably either The palace on parmer, or at Memorial stadium) the entire city of Leander would have been there along with Pville since the game would have been no more than 5 minutes away from everybody that had interest. Also, since Leander and Pville are arguably the two best teams in Austin on a yearly basis (along with Westlake) i think that would have drawn more attention from fans that had no ties to either school. But that didn't happen and now Pville is going to get their chance at what we couldnt do. Take down the Lobo's of Longview (who i still feel will find their way into the state championship game). Good luck to Pville and Longview.
Its too bad we only brought 350 or so ppl, because according to some of the Lobo fans if we would have brought 7,000 or so ppl it might have changed the result on the field ;). Would Longview be the season if they kept track of fans in the stadium compared to the other teams. Oh yeah, thats right, it has zero relevance to what happens on the field. The better team will win on Saturday, regardless of whether or not a single fan shows up.

First, please let me apologize for some of my brethren who have become obnoxious in this thread...they are usually nice guys...The fan support does surprise a lot of people in east texas when we play other schools, but we shouldn't continue making point after point about it....
Second, any person who thinks this will be a blowout is nuts...I really think that this will be the closest game in the playoffs. I also worry about the change in routine of going the night before...I have this feeling in the pit of my stomach that this game will be a nightmare for us....
finally, it also seems that the recent domination of two very good football teams the last few weeks is beginning to rear the ugly head of arrogance and over confidence...this truly has been the achilles heel of our program with talented teams....
if this team overlooks Pflugy and looks to Abilene, we could get embarrassed...
If Lobo fans have not seen Pflugy play, I can assure you that we have not seen this many athletes on the field at one time since Lufkin...

Agreed. Excellent post, King. I was about to make it myself.
And Pflugerville plays tough defense which flies to the ball and hits well, and is very physical on the offensive line and has tough runners. Think about Longview playing a team like itself, only a little more option-oriented. They're good at what they do, and that's execute. This team could easily beat Longview. I hope the players don't hear that they only beat Carter by 2 (since our team beat a battered and crippled Carter team by 32).

cajun, I'm not sure on the exact numbers, but Leander hasn't been playing football quite as long as Longview.
We have loyal Leander fans that go to ALL the pre-season, and regular games. And I maintain that the stands were a lot fuller than those pictures show.

It's just that this is a P'Ville/Longview game thread and it continually gets jacked by folks wanting to harp on Leander's game attendance. Who cares?? I grew up in a one-school 5A town. During away playoff games the only folks left in town were cops and firemen and their radios were on. But I understand the reasons why Leander and other similar "newer" 5A programs do not yet have the huge following for long trips. It takes time. Leander, P'Ville, Cedar Park and the Round Rock schools have all had some degree of recent playoff success and are building strong programs. But I guess if you have to harp on something aside from their competitive play then....

Pville doesn't run the option or wing T anymore. We are an up tempo run team if there is such an animal. Multiple set formations and no huddle. We haven't passed much in games but trust me we have a QB who is more than adequate at throwing and we have some very athletic receivers who are more than capable at catching the football. I watched us practice last night and IMO it was one of the best playoff practices I have seen this year. The coaches have put in some new wringles as they have received some insight from the Leander coaches following their game against Longview.
As I said in my first post on this thread, someone at Longview screwed up in not timely reserving Texas Stadium which is where we were suppose to play on Sat. Now, Longview is coming to Waco on Friday night? Oh my, this is great news for Pville. This huge schedule change will impact the preparations by the coaches and be a giant distraction for the team. Maybe we can send our Cheerleading squad to the Waco Hotel on Friday night to stir up things a bit more. Pville is going to win this game and shut up all the doubters. How quickly folks forget about our domination of Klein Forest who dominated Lufkin the week before. Lufkin appears to be the only team that Longview respects. This will change come Saturday!!!!!!

Yeah, Longview should be the favorites going into this one, but like another Lobo fan said earlier, Longview can't look at P'ville as a team that beat Carter by only 2 points, where Longview dismantled Carter earlier on in the season, I was at the game last week against Leander and if Longview plays like that this weekend I would think they would win by atleast a comfortable 10 point margin. Longview's second half adjustments were beautiful and when they came out in the second half they opened up a can on Leander and it really felt good to know that they were heading onto the next round. However, if Longview plays there game I think that they should be able to take this one, the thing I worry about is the players overlooking the P'ville team simply because they were tested against an opponent that Longview already destroyed. I wished I could be there, but I have a family christmas down in Beaumont this weekend, but I'm looking forward to a possible Longview-Abilene match-up in 2 weeks. Anyways good luck Lobos from a Lufkin Panther fan and you guys go out there so I can come watch you guys next week.

LV has the utmost respect for Pflugy, I can assure you. They in no way are at a point where they are overlooking you guys. Some have actually said that this will be the toughest (physically) game we have had. If LV holds onto the ball and minimizes the penalties and the QB is accurate, we have a chance of winning...if we have a problem with any one of the three, Pflugy wins...

Three very good backs. Very physical bunch with size. More overall size than most teams they play. They will run almost exclusively. I think they threw only twice last week--no completions, but rushed for more thsn 300 yards.

Our bunch is primarily a tough and physical group. Our offense carried us most of the year but in the playoffs our defense has really saved our butts. On offense we have 10 Sr. starters with much experience whereas our defense has only 4 Sr. starters. On offense we primarily run because of success but we do practice hard on the passing game and have a good throwing QB and great receivers (who are unknown unless they watch them practice). Our defensive line is huge and we have fast LBs who tackle well. Our secondary is solid but have been burned a few times on long pass plays. Our special teams are extremely solid and led by our punter/kicker (one in the same) who is very good (especially punting). We have some very fast kids returning kicks who could take it to the house if they get a seam. Our offense doesn't huddle and they don't use hardly any play clock as they like to wear down the defense with our big back and then hit with the 4.4 back on the outside. Our QB has run much more in the playoffs with good success. The kids are a very tight group with no egos and they have earned everything via hard work and dedication. Importantly, they aren't satisfied with reaching the 4'th round even though that is a first for our program. We aren't getting much respect around the state and we understand that because of our limited playoff runs in the past. These players want to build the history for the younger kids coming up the ranks.
We expect LV to come out and take some shots downfield in hopes of hitting a big play or two. I'm sure they feel their stout defense can hold us in check in case the shots result in a turnover. LV wants to get a 2 score lead so we will have to pass. Look for some surprises from Pville this week but can't be specific as it is sensitive.

Pville RBs and their weight
Greg Nwoko 215-If there was one guy that i had to pick out as their main back, i would say its this guy. Big bruiser with very deceptive speed (meaning he can break the long one if given the oppurtunity). Hes not a guy thats gonna juke anybody out, but he's very effective with his north to south running. Has around 1200 yards. I don't know if he's being recruited by anybody but he is a division 1 caliber player.
Zavier Gooden 205-Has offers from the likes of OU, Texas Tech, and Baylor among others, but is probably being recruited for the defensive side of the ball. Has legit 4.4 speed He probably has around 900 or so rushing yards.
Marcus Carruth 215-Runs like a full back but the man is a load to take down. Has around 500 or so rushing yards.

The box score had Pville Rushing 264 and Passing 0.
The box score had Carter Rushing 266 and passing 117.
And we still lost?

I agree with you guys! It is going to be a great game!

It's almost laughable when opponents talk about their size on this and that side of the ball, especially when it comes to Longview. Longview's success hinges on the size of the fight in the dog theory. Longview is always undersized compared to most of us in this district but they are what 30-0.

Klein Forest had a 98 yard int return in the last minute of the game to beat Lufkin by 7. Domination?

Maybe you shoud re-read it yourself...the score was tied @ 16-16 with under 2 minutes as LP reeled off 16 unanswered points. Due to one ill-advised play the game went to KF. Domination implies that one team never allowed the other team to ever enter the game or become competitive.

Come on Lufkin people. The Klein Forest D kick our offensive butt and confused our OC for 2 1/2 quarters, he also had a brain freeze at the end. Klein Forest was the toughest defense we played all year, including Longview. So if Pfluggerville was able to beat KF the way they did, they have my respect and are a very good team. P'Ville has been knocking on the playoff door for some time and has ridden a surprisingly stout defense and an opportunistic, smash-mouth offense to a fourth round matchup with the Lobos. I'm may have missed this somewhere, but has P'Ville ever been this deep before. I'm pretty sure nothing recent. We all know Longview is in familiar waters. Maybe a Panther backer can clarify.
Good luck to both teams, but especially to the Panthers.

I can honestly say that the players are not overlooking this game at all. They only focus on one game at a time. That is one of the things that makes this team different from our other teams. However, the fans are overlooking this game. We are already looking forward to state. That's just what some of us fans do, me included. Wishful thinking that's all. Our 97 team left every friday during playoffs and we never lost a game until state. Reason we lost that game is because we were big headed, among other things like playing a very good katy team. I think this team will not be distracted by having to spend the night in Waco. Unplug the phones in the rooms just in case.

i just looked at the roster and correct me if I'm wrong but your two starting defensive tackles are 5"10", 310 and 5'11", 320. And the ends dont sound too big. Lufkin's two defensive tackles were 6'5" 290 and 6'4" 310 and we played them twice. Pflugervilles tackles sound big alright but I am guessing they arent the most athletic ppl in the world. Also I saw in daves mag where it had one of your LBs listed at a 4.9 40. That is not very fast if thats true.

Our defense was just as dominate as there defense if not more. Both defenses ended up gving up 2 big plays, but that was about it. But we did have a few punts that almost went to the house so Lufkin's total yardage output was deceptive.
30 yards was mainly due to dropped passes, but Forest did have a solid defense, but dont let the stats completely fool you Lufkin should have won that game, but hell since 2000 we have been one of the most dominating teams in 5A, and dont expect that to change next season because Lufkin is going to be loaded led by the 2nd ranked player in the country by rivals.

Let P'ville keep thinking about the dominating performance of KF over LP. They'll soon find themselves in what really will be a dominating performance, because Longview is clicking right now--if the rest of the state doesn't know, and I was at last weeks game against Leander, I actually thought Longview was gonna be in for a dog fight, however, Coach King and his staff made some adjustments and just flat took over the game. Let P'ville just keep on worrying about a game that happened way back in Rd. 1 and I can bet you they will be on this board come Monday morning talking about how they were involved in a game where they were dominated. I just like Longview in this one, they really impressed me last week. I hope they can win this one, because I'll be there to watch the next round. Go Lobos!

Yeah KF finally beat the weakest LP team I have seen in a while in the final minutes. LP had destroyed them 4 times in a row before that game. I mean ugly. The only time it was a decent game was in 02 in the 3rd round of the playoffs and LP still won by more then 2 tds. Out of Lufkin's 20 first half plays only 6 went for positive yards. Lufkin only had 19 yards in the first half. Dang, that sounds like Pop Warner type stats. If I were Lufkin, I would demand that the local paper take the game summary off of the website as that is plain embarrassing. I'm a Lobo and remember the last 8 or so games against Lufkin. Did they loose a district game this year? Every team has a year when they don't go 3 deep. 95% of 5A teams wish they had LP's success and they will be there again next year, too good of a program. They've never won a regional championship (this year is the first time they've even made it to round 3 in a LONG TIME. They used to always get bit by the Waco bug in the 1st round). And they haven't won an outright district championship this decade (unless they won in 2000 cause im not sure who won it that year), but they do have 3 shared district championships due to three way ties. Nothing to be blown away by, but this is by far Pvilles most talented group in a while (the 2005 team with Cobb, Beatty, Williams, and Madu 'even though i still to this day thought he was one of the most overrated jr prospect in the history of high school football)

Man, it pains me to get back on here, but I feel that I must say something in regards to this matchup.
For reference, Lufkin fans, as well as KF played against you guys, we laid a complete egg the next week vs. Pflugerville. Wish it were not the case, but it is what it is. KF easily played their worst game of the season and were still only down 13 to 7 WITH THE BALL, until the arrant INT that sealed the game. Our kids came out thinking about the weather, Pville's kids came out thinking about playing a football game. I give them complete credit for that.
That said, we slept walked through the game and it took a late 4th quarter horrible INT to finally seal the game for Pville. For goodness sake two of Pville's scores came on drives of 4 & 1 yards! Their only real scoring drive was the first drive of the second half. Pville's QB got loose on a 44 yard run for a TD on a busted play. BY FAR their longest run of the game, as their top runners of Nwoko & Goodin were easily held in check. Good players yes, but nothing like what KF had seen previously seen from teams. By the game statistical report, Pville won the game with 160 some odd yards.
Maybe it was weather, maybe it was focus, maybe Pville's defense played the games of their lives, but what ever the case KF couldn't move the ball against a team giving up over 300 plus yards a contest. HARDLY in the same caliber as some of the defenses that KF had played against most of the year & NOTHING like a LP or Westfield defense.
Just wasn't KF's day. I take my hat off to Pville for winning the game & beating Carter in the final seconds in round 3. Only makes the pain of KF not showing up to play even more painful. That is the playoffs though, you've got to show up every week or you don't get to play the next. A VERY talented team and perhaps one of the best defenses in the state in KF had to find that out the hard way.
If I'm wrong then so be it, but IF Longview comes to play, Pville's Cinderella season is over. They will take care of the business that KF was unfocused enough to take care of. I would typically root for the team that knocks KF out, but it is unrealistic to believe that Pville will continue their run.
Would have been awesome to have a KF vs LV match up. Considering our mutual opponent in Lufkin, that would have made for a GREAT match up.

KF lost to a very good Pflugerville team. The Panthers have gotten to where they are at by simply winning. Probably the best team to come our of P-town for some time and since they will likley be a 4A team next year, their run is even more impressive. Go Panthers!

At Lufkin's urging, I did go back and re-read the game summary from the Lufkin/Klein Forest game. KF dominated the game even more than I recalled. Lufkin folks please stay off of this thread as you don't deserve to have an opinion on this year's playoffs. Your glory days are in the past.
at least we have some glory days to remember!!! and after today please don't post on this board anymore since ya'll be through BECAUSE the LOBOS are gonna kick your ***!!!!

I didn't mean to imply that Pflugerville wasn't a good team, because they are a very good football team, as evident by their continual advancement in the playoffs. Having seen KF play every game this season though, I felt that KF had beaten teams that were considerably better than Pflugerville. Lufkin, Hightower, Aldine and Spring come to mind. Not a knock on Pville, just a general assessment. In my opinion from watching both games, Klein was a better opponent than Pville. Again, that is simply what emphasizes the pain of losing to them. I KNOW that KF didn't play anywhere near their best and it remained anyones game until the late INT.
If this is one of Pflugerville's more talented teams, as some have stated on here, that makes it even more painful that we didn't beat them because I didn't, & still don't, think they were as good a team as KF. Just my opinion though. (which doesn't mean much to anyone but me!:))

Lufkin and KF are kicking themselves because both realize the region set up nicely to get to the final - as compared to other D2 regions such as R1. Longview will win the game and could very well take the region. Having played the Lobos twice - this team was good before they got on a roll about week 9 - they are now a dominant team.
Some teams catch a break with the weather -and Pflugs did just that against a very good KF team two weeks ago.
I think the score will be worse than I originally thought - something like 38 to 21.
Congrats on both teams making the regional final! Great season.

Wow! It was 35-7 when I tuned out for a Christmas tree run to Home Depot--35-14 final. I caught the fourth quarter and P'Ville was just playing some smash-mouth, kick#$$ ball. The score really could have been worse. Caught the game on a Longview radio station's internet broadcast and the announcers were just amazed at P'Ville's level of play and size. They used the word domination several times. Way to represent your community and District 14-5A!! Good luck againt Abilene.

So now Leander fans have been reduced to living through Pflugerville? Wow.
At the end of the game, our stands were more full than Leander's were last weekend during it the entire game. And let's not forget, I saw quite a bit of Leander's crowd (what small, pathetic crowd WAS there) leaving as well when we made it 40.
Honestly, did you think at all before you posted that?

I guess there was a misconception right here. I wasn't talking about you directly, but if you read through this thread my point is backed up. And i don't think any Leander fan is "living through Pvilles success". Leander and Pflugerville have had some epic football games in this decade, and i have more respect for them than probably any other team in the district overall (not just based on this year, but over years). Also Leander is a 5-10 minute drive (barring any Austin traffic) away from Pflugerville, so these are people that we work with and people that we've played little league sports against for years unlike Longview who has a district spread out a little bit more than 14-5a. Don't you think it would be natural for a Leander fan to root for Pflugerville to win? Especially after the way they were given no chance by some of ya'll.

Hate to (actually I would love to) interrupt you while you woof down your crow, but Pflugerville does have glory days, such as the 55 game winning streak back when the Panthers were a small school. It was a state and NATIONAL record at the time, you can read about it ( I know you probably won't) at the History link on the Pville football page below:

And now a Division 2 Regional Championship to add to our history. And we're not through playing football yet, but we look forward to this season's hoops team as we are strong there as well.

Good post, and dead on. We know what P-ville is made of because we've seen it. They've always had amazing athletes. And this year's team seems very focused and plays as a team.

Now see, LeanderLions, here's where a fine line is drawn between cheering for another team and trying to live through their success.
I'm not exactly sure what that fine line is, maybe you could enlighten me. I still stand by my point that i don't think their is a SINGLE Leander fan that is living through Pvilles success. Pville is obviously a different team from when we played them (again like you saw another epic game between the two teams). I guess we can agree to disagree, but i don't think you will ever see a Leander fan living through of all teams Pflugervilles success. They are practically our main rival (along with Cedar Park), so i'd personally rather trade my left nut than be accused of living through their success (lol ok maybe not that far, but maybe now you see where i'm coming from).

Quit crying or whinning. Look back at your threads and read the stuff lobo fans were saying. Like I said I was at the game, heard your dog barks at the start and saw lobo fans leaving with 8 minutes left in the game . You guys are the ones that dogged out Leander for not having a big crowd and not showing support for our team. The fans that show up show up the ones that don't don't. You guys were trying to say that Leander fans are not the fans lobo fans are . We are every bit the fans to Leander and our district teams. You guys have been smoking the threads about how much better Longview was and how you have a tradition and history. The way I see it If any team in district 14-5a had been around as long as Longview they would have won state by now . So don't get all HIGH AND MIGHTY. Your team played and your team got beat down, so learn to live with it. Congratulate your team and get ready for your football banquet. Lobos win you guys talk about domination and history. Well Pflugerville won and now you can talk more about history , just like your season is history now. Grow up. Don't be so offended . It was not even a week ago that your lobo fans were talking about how you whooped up on Leander. so Adult up and quit whinning. As for Leander fans living through Pflugerville that is crazy for you to even think that. I cheer for Pflugerville now because they are in our district. No other reason. When Leander and Pflugerville play next season Leander will whoop up on them again, but that is for another thread. So as they say let a dead dog lay or should I say let a dead lobo lay as in your season, and quit being so sensitive. It is just a football game. High school football gotta love it. :notworthy

I'd bet more Leander fans showed up to the PVille game than they did for their own game. And lest we forget, half of their pathetic crowd left when we made it 40-21, so I don't know exactly what point he's trying to make. And besides, I stayed until the end, so I'm not taking any offense or whining. I just thought it was hilarious how LEANDER fans are on here talking smack about our team or attendance when we embarrassed them in both cases. Are you REALLY that bitter that we ended your season and made fun of the laughable crowd you brought? Cause, I mean, you seem to have a chip on your shoulder which is funny since you keep telling me to quit whining and being sensitive... But I guess if that happened to Longview all the time, I might be reduced to celebrating wins that Lufkin achieves.

Longview fans. Now that the game is over, I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on what impressed them about our team or certain players. I was impressed with your RBs as they ran estremely hard. I also like your TE, he is tall and has great hands. Your deep snapper was also one of the best I have seen as I pay attention to such things.Y'all did bring a big crowd. Did your kids behave Friday night etc. at the hotel. I bet that was a big distraction for them. We had a smooth travel as it was the same as the week before. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Yeah say whatever you want to make yourself feel better. You should go back and read some of the threads from the lobo nation and then get back at me. It doesn't matter how many fans go to games , you can't control that. All I know is that both teams have eleven players on the field at the same time. What is hilarious is that yeah longview beat leander by 19 . Pville beat you guys by actually 35-7 , you got a sympathy touch down . Longview lost by 21 . do the math . Any how this thread is supposed to be about fans and info. So if your feeling are really hurt call your longview athletic director and schedule Leander for one of your first non district games. Get a life the only laughable thing is now that the lobo nation is out of the playoffs you are just like the other teams that have gotten beaten enjoy what is left of the playoffs and have a great life.

This thread is over, i'm gonna go "live through Pvilles success" in the Pville vs Abilene thread ;). No but seriously, how many Pflugerville fans are even on this board? Hardly any. So that answers that question.

Your runningbacks were amazing, and your linemen were all about execution. You don't see that flexbone or wing t anymore, but you guys are in the semis running it, so you're obviously doing something right. The fullback impressed me when he ran our linebacker OVER and then waltzed into the end zone.
And yes, we stayed Friday night in a hotel and had a big bonfire sendoff the night before that. I think both were stupid ideas; messing with a successful system. But whatever.

I'm sorry? I KNOW that Longview fans talked smack about Leander's crowd.
So yeah, we beat Leander by 19 and Pflugerville beat us by 21 (or 28 if you're living in your delusional world, but whatever). I did the math... What does it mean? We still sent you back to Leander to where you grabbed onto the coattails of Pflugerville. And yeah, we're out of the playoffs now. You exitted a week early at the hands of us. So you laughing at us being out is kinda ironic, seeing as you exitted quicker than we did... at the hands of us. I'm sorry if you got your feelings hurt because we laughed at your 200 fans which showed up. Let it go. :p I can live with our success... I'm not gonna go try to live through Abilene or anything else. Apparently the same can't be said about you.

I am sorry about all of the Longview fans who got on this board and talked smack to fans from other schools - I know it's supposed to be in fun, but I always think that "Pride goeth before the fall." We are all proud of our teams and at this point, they are all good. I felt bad for Leander's team last week because you could tell that they were heartbroken - as teams always are when their season ends after a long run. I feel for our team this week. I read on the Lobo message board that Plugerville fans were chanting "overrated" during the fourth quarter and one fan said that guys from Plugerviller were yelling out their car windows, "Lobos Suck" in the partking lot. That is very poor sportsmanship. Even though we travel well and have great attendance I have never heard our crowd do anything like that. It is one thing to joke on this board, but it is another to kick a kid when he is really down. I congratulate their team and understand their excitement, but I can't understand them belittling our team. Lets all remember this next season and I hope that P'ville fans remember it next week should they be victorius again. Good luck to the Panthers and the other remaining teams - it is about the KIDS. End of Sermon! lol

Agree with you LongtimeLoboFan. Fans should realize that the kids that are playing this game put their heart and soul into this beautiful game of football, and win or lose they will remember these playoff experiences for the rest of their lives. We should be thankful for the show these kids put on to entertain us as fans and we should appreciate the hard work and effort they put forth to get to this level. Believe me the players on both teams respect each other, that is why they shake hands after the game. It's too bad we have a few people that don't exhibit the same sportsmanship that the players do.

I agree with you. When Longview fan's started to leave some people on our side were waving good bye. My son picked up on it and started doing the same thing, which I quickly put a STOP to it. Losing is a load heavy enough to carry. But emotions get high and people get caught up in the moment. At the Leander game, some of your Lobos ran to our kids and waved their trophy in front of their face. My husband thought it was one of the worst show of sportsmanship he had seen. And though I agree with him, I understand they are kids, and they had just won. I don't know if they were corrected by their coaches or parents, or if anyone even noticed.

Yeah, it pisses me off too when our fans do it. Except Mesquite and Evangel, no team deserves that, and I made a good effort to talk to fans of other teams and apologize for it and wish them luck and a safe drive.

Many teams still actually run it but not near as many as there used to be.
