The Churchill Chargers shut out the Judson Rockets tonight at Judson Stadium. This was Judson's first shutout in 18 years. Churchill's defense again rose to the occasion and shut out the Rockets. This throws the district race up in the air. Congratulations Chargers.

Yes it is the same team. We just got back from the game and all I can say is congratulations Chargers! I simply could not beleive the way that their defense totally dominated Judson's O. Judson had one big run in the first half for about 40-50 yards and if I'm not mistaken only one pass play in the second over ten yards. I'm simply in shock! How in the world do you beat SV, lose to Roosevelt and Madison in back to back weeks and then shut Judson out on their home field?

That is correct on the 18 years and that one was in the playoffs against Marshall and it was a 0-0 game!

Judson is done period end of story. The offense is horrible and not only did they get shut out they only had about 5 first downs in the game. I do not see them winning anymore games this year, and by the way Bullrock was right with his statements earlier in the year when he said "Judson is dead". At this point all the coaches need to be removed and start from scratch, they did not have a clue in tyhe whole game and that is being totally honest. Judson will finish 4-6 count on it. If I were a Judson fan I would start looking forward to Wagner games next year, because from what I say tonight next year does not look good either.

That's what I'm thinking! I know that 26-5a is more balanced than it has been in about 20 years! I'd say that if Madison has as good of chance as any to win the district right now.
So, if I say Madison is pretty good, what would that make San Marcos? LOL

The offense is broken and I have zero confidence in the offensive coordinator turning things around, and judging by the players body motions, they don't either.
Its taken him eight games to accomplish something that hasn't happened in 18 friggen years - a shutout. The offense has been getting worse and worse each week and nforunately they have three more games to play this season.

If it were not for the Judson defense, Madison would just kill them. I also belive the weak Judson Offense is taking its toll on the defense it just a matter of time, when they totally stop playing hard.

But a defense can't always be saving the offense...sooner or later the defense may give in. Plus, the defense can't consistently be out there....unless they never get tired.

Do you? San Marcos lost a no account, week 1 game to a 4A state semi-finalist team by 4 points. And whoever said Madison would beat San Marcos now obviously hasn't seen San Marcos lately. San Marcos had two starters in the O-line out for the first three games of the season. There's a reason the offense turned around in that fourth game.

I have no problem with you saying that Madison is an improved team since their game with SM. Trust me, so has SM improved since then. Yes, they did lose to a 4a team that was also a state semi-finalist last year by either 3 or 4 points. THE POINT IS SM 1-0 IN 2005 AGAINST SA MADISON MAVERICKS. The Mavs could win state this year, and guess what, SM 1 MAVS 0! LOL Momma always said the truth hurts, and so does a loss.

LaLaLaLa La. I sold all 5 of my tickets tonight for 10 bucks. I chose a good one to miss. Madfan, you need to take your offensive coordinator back. He will be the best player on your team when we play. Not saying I told you so, but I have been watching Judson ball for 35 years (well 34 not counting this year) and it is not alive anymore. The sad thing is we all missed the memorial. It was right before the Cove game. I think tonight would be a great night to go ahead and cremate them. I'll look for the obit in tomorrows paper. Congrats to Churchill. They beat us without thier best player tonight? That's really bad because he was on the offense and it appears thier defense is what did us in.

I never said that SM beating the Mavs this year would have any bearing on either teams success this year. I don't care about any polls either, I care about the scoreboard, and SM got it! It sounds to me like you might have a little heart burn over a 25-5a team getting one over on a 26-5a team. You are the one who keeps stating that Madison is so improved that SM could not beat them again. Bull, because SM is also much improved since that game.
You also referred to SMs loss coming to a 4a team. So what if it did! SV and Clemens both spanked some really good 5a teams in the SA area in non-district games in the late 90s when both schools were 4a. I have stated here many times before that there is not much difference in talent between a good 4a and a good 5a teams starters. The difference is on the depth charts from 2nd string down because 4a teams do not have the numbers to be as deep as a 5a school!

26-5A is the toughest in the state on any given night. Churchill did what it took to win and returned the favor from 1982 (shutout 14-0). Wagner is apart of us, If it was only Kirby and Kitty Hawk, the Falcons would have went to Wagner. I know retired Rockets whose children are attending Wagner and unfortunately that where you will probably see traditional Rocket football played. As I mention before they should had replaced the departing Judson coaches with former Judson players who are coaching and promote from within. Until that happens we are in trouble, no disrespect but NB and Madison is not Judson football. I just hope the values that are taught in the program do not also fall by the waist side.

No, when you have different people who are not familer with the program they bring different values to a program. For instance the hustle is not there, running to the line of scrimage playing fired up for 4 quarters and doing the little things that will help a team succeed. Even the teams that Judson fielded in the past that were not as talented always played with fire that is what I mean by values.

I totally agree with you about the sprinting to the line of scrimmage, snapping the ball, and running it down your throat. I'd also say that looking at those guys on the field tonight you would not know that it was the Rockets unless you look at the J on the helmet. It is very hard to beleive when you see it. I only saw the Rockets defense jump up and down and get excited after maybe 3 or 4 plays tonight. This is not Rocket football!

First of all, congrats to Churchill staff and players for executing a great game plan. Judson like Churchill is riddled with injuries. Churchill was missing 3 starters on offense and Judson was missing 3 on offense and 3 on defense. Houston had to play a different position because of injuries. Not excuses, just facts and Churchill played a fantastic game on defense against an offensive crew who are not playing Judson football. The last time the Rockets were shut out was the 1st game of the 1987 season against Marshall in a 0-0 tie. Last district shutout was a 0-6 loss to Roosevelt in 1984.
Other posters from various parts of the state have expressed shock that Judson was going with a different style of offense, but nobody has been in more shock than Judson fans. The new OC introduced different blocking schemes and the senior laden offensive line just didn't buy into the system. Players are expected to hold their blocks longer at different angles and Judson players are struggling with that concept. The trademark of sprinting to the line and firing off has vanished along with the fire which is not the style of the new coordinators. Even on the sideline I observed a lack of fire or defeatist attitude among the coaches. You can blame the new OC, but it starts at the top. Personally and I felt this way last January, Coach Rackley should have moved to AD and let Gibbens take over as head coach. Again that is my personal feeling. He is a good man, but the heart and soul of Rocket football is no longer present, and if one rumor I have heard comes true, I will be as the expression goes "totally pissed". Being an optimist, I'm hoping for a sweep in the last 3 games, but the possibility does exist for a bad sweep. This loss will either shake up the players in a positive fight like a cornered, mad dog or they will spiral downward. Have other things to say, but this post is way too long already. Anyway, congrats Churchill and Coach Gus' staff. Rockets get it together, it ain't over yet.

Ya, ya, ya, Judson is dead...again. The bigger they are the harder they fall. Doesn't anybody watch any college or pro football? Change is the one constant. USC will fall (hopefully to ND :D ). Mike Holmgren couldn't get out of Green Bay fast enough with his Super Bowl ring.
It ain't the end, IMO, it's just different...the OC has a couple of years to deal with kids that learned a system different from what is going to be played for the foreseeable future...soon the old dead weight (17 year olds) will graduate and be gone.

I've got three of the new hvy barreled savages in .308, 22-250, and .243 that are unbelievable! I'm still working on a good load for my .243 but have already gotten it to less than 1/2" at 100yds. I have gotten several 5 shot groups with the .308 less than .375" at 100 and under an inch at 200. With the 22-250 it will do 1/2" at 100 and 1 1/4 every time at 200! Savage rifles will outshoot any factory rifle out of the box, and for about 1/2 the price of the other brands equal. The accu-trigger is simply great. NO travel, and down to 1 1/2 Lb adjustment on certain models and 2 1/2 Lbs on other! Try one out and I guarantee you will agree. I have a buddy that purchased one in .300 WSM and it will shoot a ragged hole with factory ammo!

:) Its kind of nice seeing Judson lose maybe even have a losing season and not making the playoffs. The sky is falling in Rocket land. I had no respect for Rutledge and how Judson carried themselves back in the day. . Good coach however onside kicking when beating Trinity 50 to 0 in the 92 championship game. NO class.

If you were at that game the ball went off the side of the kicker's foot and the wind caught ball and it blew back into a Rocket’s hand. You also did not mention that those second half touch downs were scored by the second and third team offense. Jerrod had a chance to rush for 3,000 yards that year but Coach Rutledge pulled him out of the championship game. How else did we carry ourselves back in the day? After Jerrod graduated from Baylor, he did not want the NFL life so he had worked in the Juvenile justice system, work for SBC and I believe he now manages a cingular or sprint shop in Converse. Do not have respect for the Dallas Cowboys for beating Buffalo 52-0 in the Super bowl that year also?

Yeah, the third and second teams should've been stopped. But sometimes (especially inthe playoffs) if it's pretty much clear your gonna lose, you like to put seniors in and let them have their last game. I remember we did that in basketball when we were at state.

the 92 and 93 teams were an exceptionally talented group of kids. The back-ups would have been starters on 80% of the teams in Texas those two years. It was not an onsides kick and Rutledge never said it was.

It's not hard to play defense against Judson! :D OK, they do have some offense. I guess Churchill is better than most of us thought they were. They're going to waste a good year if they don't make the playoffs.

26-5A is better throughout the district.
Losing coaches has hurt Judson.
Losing players has cut into the depth.
All the changes have made Judson lose their identity of over 20 years.
The new offense is foreign to kids who've done the same thing for 6 years.

All that stuff meant a lot to the Rockets. It's hard to be drilled with something and then change everything.

Point #2 Rutledge has as much class or more than anyone. He did not and would not call a onside kick in that situation. He will however get excited for the kid that recovered the ball. We played football one way at Judson under Coach Rutledge and it was with class and pride!

The bad thing is 5-2 gets you knocked out of the playoffs in 26-5A a lot of years.
You aint never kiddin', just look back at 2002 when we missed out after dropping the first two games to Judson and Roosevelt. We had a great team at the end of the year and didn't make the playoffs. Judson won Div1 and we stayed home after spanking Madison the last game to ruin their perfect 10-0 season!

It probably will be the last game at Rocket Stadium. Will they change the name of the stadium? Tradition says keep it like it is, but they probably want to be FAIR to Wagner.
It doesn't matter what the name is change to, it still will not be fair for Wagner to come and play Judson in their stadium and be called the home team! I feel the same way for Steele. Their home games will be played in Clemens' parking lot!

Your memory is failing you. Madison was 7-0 and got beat by Reagan and Judson before winning in Week 10. You lost to Madison and went 4-3 in district. Madison went 5-2 and so did Roosevelt after losing to Judson in Week 10.

Sorry, maybe I mixed up the year. But, I know for a fact that Clemens spanked a playoff bound Madison in week 10 one of those years. My point is that if you stumble in 26-5a, there's a good chance that your butt will be at home come playoff time!

It was probably 2001. Madison beat Judson that year and I know you didn't play Madison last in 2002 and 2003.
2001 you beat Churchill and lost to Judson and East Central. You beat Madison 28-7 to end the year, but they were 8-1 at the time.

26-5A is better throughout the district.
Losing coaches has hurt Judson.
Losing players has cut into the depth.
All the changes have made Judson lose their identity of over 20 years.
The new offense is foreign to kids who've done the same thing for 6 years.
All 5 things make it bad.
Judson didn't really lose players to Wagner yet. That bite wont come untill next year. I think Wagner only has like 2 Jrs on their team. I think all of the soph's were given a choice as whether to go or stay and most of them choose to stay..some because they hadnt hired a coach and some because they would be starters on the varsity. If Im correct here..I think both QB's live in the Wagner zone...I think the DB James does as well. There are a few more of the Jrs that are pretty good that choose to stay at Judson before the coaches were hired. I think a lot of them wish they would have made the switch!! Just my opinion

Sorry I haven't been on here yet, I have been playing SOCOM 3.
Judson has one of the Best Defenses we have ever had, but even they are not good enough to make up for how horrible our offense is. They only gave up 14 points, with our offense not going anywhere. Also, Judson had 3 starting O-Linemen out early in that game, but I'm not sure if it made a difference.
It looks like Judson could very well be out of the playoffs, which is a shame to all the defensive players we have that play so well. Well, time to look at the Madison game.
I remember freshman year, losing to Madison 21-62, and i remember it was because we had a horrible defense. Now we have a good D, but a bad O.

After reading all of this garbage I just cant take it anymore. First of all, I have never seen a few losses for a football team create so much interest. This is the ultimate compliment. When 99% of the teams in the state lose nobody cares. When Judson loses all hell breaks loose. Calm down people. It is just a game. And for all of you who think Judson is finished, you may want to wait till the end of the year to open your mouth. And even if they dont make the playoffs this year that doesnt mean Judson is finished. A few years ago they missed the playoffs and won the championship the next year or year after. When Coach Rutledge was there, Judson lost to New Braunfels of all teams. It happens. Sometimes you have it and sometimes you dont. I am a die hard Judson fan. I have been going since I was born. I played at Judson as well. And I now live in the Smithson Valley area and still attend every Judson game. I must admit losing sucks. Winning is always much better. But what people need to realize is that these kids dont want to lose. They are really trying. They are in a totally new offense. For those of you who do not know, Judson kids run the same offense when they are in Pop Warner. The offense becomes a part of you. So to go your whole life having the Judson offense burned into your head and then change everything is really hard. Realistically it may take a few years. What they are going through is a growing process. They will learn from their mistakes. When you start over with an offense you sometimes take 2 steps forward and 1 step back. The kids will grow into the system. I realize people hate change. But it isnt always bad. I can remember a few times in the past when Jeter would run up the middle on 3rd and 8 and people wanted him fired. How ridiculous is that? Coach Rackley is still the Coach Rackley that coached these kids to a championship. His staff is new. They are going through a learning process like the kids are for the most part. Nobody runs a program like Judson in the state of Texas. If they do it is because they watched Judson do it and started doing it themselves. I remember being at practice and having 5 different coaching staffs watching our practices in the spring or in the playoffs. Success brings on very high expectations. It also makes people try harder to knock you down. And when you fall they pounce right away. Some of the comments I am hearing from Judson fans is embarrassing. I went to the Churchill game and was quite honestly astounded at what I was hearing in the stands. Folks this isnt the NFL. It is only a game. That same class you demonstate when Judson wins goes away when they stumble. That is what is termed a "front runner". We are going to find out who the real Judson fans are in the next few weeks. Because I believe in my heart Judson will beat Madison. And if they dont I am sure they will have given it their best shot. Because true Rocket Pride would not have it any other way. To the guys in the stands calling officials "morons" and yelling at the kids and coaches for being "stupid" and many other things I care not to mention, please stay at home. You are an embarrassment. And Judson does not need you win or lose. It was quite disgusting. I heard a former Judson coach from last year make a comment "they need to get the kids checking tickets to not let these guys in next time" That is bad. I realize it is only a few but it is still embarrassing none the less. I am calling on all true Judson Rocket fans to come out Friday night and support those kids with everything you have got in your heart. Having played there, I can promise you that the fans make a huge difference. How else can you explain years of overachieving football players winning championships. This year is no different.

If we win this week, I'll nominate it. Even though there is a lesson to learn from it at every juncture. The coaches had to believe, then sell it to the players who had to believe, and lastly the fans which are always a lot harder to sell, if they're not satisfied with the results, because they really are the ones you're merchandising your product to.

That's one that I always questioned. Rackley has too much fire to not play a huge part in the heart and soul department.
Heart and soul is overrated anyway. I wanted to puke so much from hearing that Michael Finley was the heart and soul of the Mavs. I wanted him to be gone a few years ago.

Just a quick note on the whole Wagner Judson thing..It will take a few years before Wagner gets established..People automatically assume, since Wagner is Open, Judson is in trouble..Right now from what I see, is the people that dont think they will play or start at Judson will fly the coup and go to Wagner and maybe other schools. We all know what I mean. I hope..Will Judson fall off... I doubt it...Theres to much at stake to let that happen..

if wagner gets put in a weak district, they may be okay. if not, they can forget it. they'll get decimated in 26-5A. The coaches they got from judson--except for gibbens--were all newbies anyway . . . coach hall was new to judson and didn't do too well with the pass defense, and draker and mendoza were worthless.
i take that back, they got coach monk and he was a good coach. they also got a great coach in dykes, but he's not coaching football anymore, just track.
so bottom line, they've got "rocket pride" in gibbens and monk -- probably not enough to bring judson success to wagner.
yeah, long road ahead for the 'birds.

Judson will be fine next year..What alot of people forget is that there are alot of JR's sitting behind these seniors still, that are not on JV but are good and then u have the players on JV. There are only a couple of Jr's that start now..Most of these Jr's and the ones behind the seniors right now have played together since 6 or 7th grade..Trust me, when they reunite, they will be just fine..The question is what happens to the rest of the teams in our district and region..Do they have a majority of seniors leaving..Everyone could be in the same boat..Thats why Judson will be fine..
