View Full Version : You're fired (Region 4)

One more time with feeling! This is our last region and some of these teams are real bad and others just don't do enough. Without further adieu:
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:09 PM
SA Highlands. Well, they may get 1 more win, but they aren't close to competing in district for the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:10 PM
SA East Central. I love it when stuff is easy. They lost to Seguin and that means they won't go to the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:12 PM
SA Southwest. Play time is over since there aren't any more Highlands and Jefferson's on the schedule. No chance to beat Clemens and San Marcos.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:13 PM
SA Jefferson. They may win 1 game, but the rest will be slaughters. When will they be decent?
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:14 PM
Seguin. San Marcos beat them and they'll finish in 3rd. They might as well not even show up for the playoffs because they'll play S Valley!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:15 PM
SA Churchill has been hired back.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:16 PM
SA Lee. Well, district play has started and Lee is in last place. It's nice to know you can count on some things! :D
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:18 PM
Del Rio. These guys are better than the past, but still not close to where they need to be to get in the playoffs. Maybe they'll keep improving.

10-14-2005, 03:18 PM
You must be bored senselless.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:19 PM
SA Warren. They picked a bad time to start losing games. 2 district losses and more tough games means no playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:20 PM
You must be bored senselless.
Not really. I like how the fans of the different regions are commenting on their various threads.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:22 PM
SA Holmes. You're supposed to win in district, not start losing. That's what happens when you play chumps in non-district. Right now these guys couldn't beat Larry Holmes! :p
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:24 PM
SA Marshall has been re-hired.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:25 PM
SA Taft. They were having a disappointing season anyway, but losing to Marshall sealed the deal for missing the playoffs. This is a disappointing year following last year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:27 PM
CC King. They can't beat the 4A teams in town. It's no surprise they can't beat the 5A teams, either.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:28 PM
CC Miller. They're way too small to play in 5A. They need to drop to 4A, but that's also tough because it's a hard district to play in.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:29 PM
CC Moody. Let's see they had a hard time beating 4A teams. That makes it harder to beat 5A and they won't do it.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:30 PM
CC Ray. They may be a playoff team. That's good for 1 round with these guys. They are only average.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:31 PM
V Memorial. They took several losses on the chin, but they'll be better for it. They still make the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:33 PM
Eagle Pass. Hey, these guys might make the playoffs. I don't rememeber their success in the past. The district won't do much, though.
KT2000
10-14-2005, 03:34 PM
This is good stuff. If you read through every thread you'll get a nice picture of what's going on around the state.
Might need to get our boy Lonny some smelling salts (non Michael Irvin variety) to finish region 4.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:35 PM
L Alexander. Hey, they still have United South to play! :D Otherwise being 0-6 doesn't look too good.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:37 PM

Thanks. I was dragging in District 20 and then picked back up a little. I'll try to finish strong. Maybe I'll do something else down the line for the other teams that are still in good graces.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:40 PM
L Cigarroa. Well, they got 2 freebies and might have 1 left. That means they probably lose 4 district games and miss the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:43 PM
L Johnson. Well, lookee here! I made fun of them for beating Crystal City 14-13 and that's a 3A team. I said they were the team United South had the best chance to beat and these guys up and beat Alexander last week. Good job, guys! You still won't make the playoffs, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:44 PM
L Martin. They broke off 2 district wins and might get 2 more, but 4 isn't enough. They need 5 and will fall just short of the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:48 PM
L Nixon. I hate to pick on my friends. I take up for you a lot and you're not a bad team. They can beat a lot of teams, but we all know they can't compete with the top SA teams in the playoffs. They start every year like they end it with their tails between their legs. At least they play the SA teams and that's why they always win district. They might go 3 deep in the playoffs AGAIN!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:49 PM
L United. This was supposed to be their year, but Nixon beat them. They're relegated to 2nd place and might get a win or 2 in the playoffs. Long-range they won't beat SA teams.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:53 PM
L United South. You knew I wouldn't leave these guys out! :D They still have the worst power rating, but they have strong competition from elsewhere for the title of worst in the state. The future isn't bright and that's how some of us like it! :D They do have 20 points and that's better than 2 teams in Houston. Their competition is weaker and that's why their rating is worse.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:55 PM
La Joya. They had 2 early season losses, so we know they aren't the best in the Valley. They'll probably run the table in district, but the party is over if they win the first 2 games. Do they want more of Judson? :p
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:57 PM
Mc Memorial. I kept giving these guys a chance because they have Stephens, but I gave up. The Pace loss told me to not go with these guys. 32 is tougher than any of the other districts in the Valley and you have no hope of beating SA if you're not even the best team/district down south.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:59 PM
McAllen. These guys have some hope because they beat PSJA. They could sneak in the playoffs with a few more quality wins. Don't count on winning after Week 10, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:01 PM
Mc Rowe. They're probably outside of the playoffs because they lost last week. Better luck next year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:03 PM
Mission Sharyland. OK, I think they get to the playoffs. Again, I think they'll struggle with beating 31 and 32 in the 2nd round. Laredo is bad enough they might win in Week 11.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:05 PM
Rio Grande City. It's not looking good for the home team. With 5 district games, you just can't afford to lose the first game out the door to a mid-level team. No playoffs for the Rattlers.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:06 PM
Donna. It's been a tough year. They have a good Valley schedule and have been getting beat. They'll be back strong in another year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:07 PM
Edinburg. They may have enough to get in the playoffs. The way 32 beat them says, they won't win in Week 11.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:10 PM
E Economedes. They may go 0-10. They aren't that good this year and are about to hit the meat of their schedule. The coach must have good people skills because he STILL has a job and is 15-40! :D
mad_fan
10-14-2005, 04:10 PM

You guys and your power ratings  :D
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:12 PM
E North. These guys are going to struggle to make the playoffs, too. The guys next door are about 20 points a game better than 31 and it doesn't really matter too much who does make the playoffs from 31. I say done after Week 10.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:14 PM
PSJA North. They're about to hate life. I see a 7-3 and no playoffs. That's always a bad feeling.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:15 PM
Weslaco. They're probably a playoff team and they have looked good against 32 this year. I think they'll struggle in the playoffs, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:17 PM
Brownsville Hanna. These guys look like the cellar dwellers. They're getting worse by the week. No district wins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:18 PM
B Porter. 0-3 in district and a lot of tough games to come. This is actually a decent district for being in the Valley. I like how good the competition is down here each week.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:20 PM
B Rivera. These guys aren't bad. There is too much competition for wins and they're a small step below the rest and that leads to losses. No playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 04:22 PM

CC King. They can't beat the 4A teams in town. It's no surprise they can't beat the 5A teams, either.
LOL None of the Valley or Corpus teams can beat CC Callalen or GP. I can clearly remember CCC playing some pretty decent 5a teams from SA in non-district games here a few years ago and spanking them like step children!

There's a lot of SA teams that wouldn't beat them, either. That's why Moody and Miller would stay in 5A if they had 200 students. It's easier to play in 5A than to mess with GP, Calallen, and Flour Bluff! :D
lonny23

Calallen played all 5A teams in nondistrict this year and won them all handily. They don't shy away from playing 5A teams, win or lose. They put a whooping on San Marcos a couple of years ago.
08/26/2005 @ Corpus Christi Ray (28-5A) won: 53-13

I'm not so sure about that. I just got home from the Judson-Churchill game and it wasn't pretty. Chuchill's defense totally dominated Judson's O. 14-0 Churchill. I know that when wake up and read this you will think you are having a nightmare. But you're not. Now I have seen Judson in person this year and I can tell you that if their offense does not improve by the Madison game they will not make the playoffs. Judson's D is pretty good as usual, but I cannot beleive how bad the offense looked tonight. I can also tell you, and I know you will not like this, but Clemens' defense would have their way with them also. Judson must improve to make the playoffs and they better improve a lot if they are going to make any kind of run in the playoffs this year. I just didn't see any of that Judson fire in the players at all. And the fans, I couldn't beleive it, I don't think I even heard them across the field more than 5 times all night. To tell you the honest truth, everything about the game tonight reminded me of 2003' when we won at their place.

I'm not mad in the slightest way. I agree the offense needs to get better and I've been taking a wait and see approach. I'll still take the no offense in 2005 over the no defense in 2003.

I'm always honest. I would know a lot more about them if I was there to watch them. They have a potential shutdown defense. I now hear the run defense is better than the pass defense. The offense is bad, but I know it's the first new offense these kids have had in the last 7 years. They might get it together, but they aren't showing it yet. I'll knock Judson out if I need to. They'll be gone if they lose another game this year. If they don't start scoring more, I'll knock them out regardless.

Pharr San Juan Alamo is the best of a very weak district. They can't beat 32, so how can they beat SA?

I respect your opinion. However, now that we are going D1, I think we have a chance at going pretty far. If Judson loses one more and continues to sputter, we will probably be playing Madison or Raegan in the first round. Neither team really scares me and I think we could get past them. After that, we would probably play Oconner and we could beat them. Then, a Valley team and if we got that far we had better handle them. Probably too much speculation but that is just my opinion.

Actually, yes, I did think Seguin would beat Madison last year. I still think we probably should have but we choked or picked the wrong game to have an off night. I surely was not suggesting that neither Madison nor REAGAN is a slouch that could be taken lightly; both are very good teams. I just think we match up well with both.

Yeah, I'm glad that (if we go) we'll be matched up with you all....and not Clemens.
But last year, I went into that cold, windy night hoping Madison would get cleaned out and what happened! They win....and not only that I thought by sitting on the Madison side the wind would be at my back....WRONG.
Stupid wind blew into my eyes all game....and then it was like 40 degrees with 10 mph winds....
Yes, that night was freeezing!!! I want to know what was with the lack of showing for the Madison fans. Is their fan support that bad? I know it was cold but the game was closer to Madison and we easily had 10 times as many fans as them, probably more. No pun intended to you Madison fans out there.

....no offense to Madison fans but they were pretty cocky towards the end of the game claiming they "killed Taft so they'll do it again"....I guess "killing" is a narrow OT win....but Taft killed them like 37-7....but that's another story. But that night was sooooo cold. My rear was like frozen to the seat, my face was numb, my eyes were dry and cold...and when i got back to my car...my Dr. Pepper was still cold.

Lonny, What division is OC going in? div. 1 or 2? I am soooo confused with the numbers everywhere. If the Revised UIL numbers are whats being used they go Div. 1 but this site has them in the D2 bracket. Frankly I think if they go D1 they have a good chance in R. 2, ONLY if reagan makes the playoffs ( I am praying) because if not then I believe MAdison goes Div. 1 and we know how well OC does against madison, always close but no cigar! But if they go Div. 2 I will still be there to back my panthers, but I know we lose in Round 2, I think we play the winner of Clemens or SV? I just think OC is too young for the playoffs this year and will have too many mental errors, but if we do get past Round 2 SEMIS HERE WE COME!!! (in Div. 1 anyway, Div. 2 I have no clue)

lonny23

Yeah, SA needs somebody to beat!:D

This is good stuff. If you read through every thread you'll get a nice picture of what's going on around the state.
Might need to get our boy Lonny some smelling salts (non Michael Irvin variety) to finish region 4.
That was a monster effort. I threw out like 200 posts in a row and ended it in the middle of the night.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:02 PM
L Alexander. Hey, they still have United South to play! :D Otherwise being 0-6 doesn't look too good.
Alexander beat United South 27-3.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:03 PM
Ended in Week 12 last year. They still had a good year.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:04 PM
L United. This was supposed to be their year, but Nixon beat them. They're relegated to 2nd place and might get a win or 2 in the playoffs. Long-range they won't beat SA teams.
Got 2 wins and lost to SV. It was a good game for a while.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:05 PM
L United South. You knew I wouldn't leave these guys out! :D They still have the worst power rating, but they have strong competition from elsewhere for the title of worst in the state. The future isn't bright and that's how some of us like it! :D They do have 20 points and that's better than 2 teams in Houston. Their competition is weaker and that's why their rating is worse.
Hey, they ended up being 242 out of 244 because of Houston.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:06 PM
La Joya. They had 2 early season losses, so we know they aren't the best in the Valley. They'll probably run the table in district, but the party is over if they win the first 2 games. Do they want more of Judson? :p
No, they lost to Harlingen, who then got beat by Judson.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:09 PM
Mc Memorial. I kept giving these guys a chance because they have Stephens, but I gave up. The Pace loss told me to not go with these guys. 32 is tougher than any of the other districts in the Valley and you have no hope of beating SA if you're not even the best team/district down south.
That last sentence was pretty accurate. I will say that teams from 29, 31, and 32 got beat by SA, so the losses were spread out among the districts.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 07:10 PM

Yeah, they needed to be better and they did improve.

OK, I knocked them out for losing to Madison and that was a concession to the odds of making the playoffs. They started scoring more and got an opening and that's why they were fired one week and hired back the next week.

You shouldn't have because they made it to the state championship game after almost missing the playoffs.
The rules from the start said teams were getting fired if they weren't going to be a threat to make the semis. Judson by far had the worst record of the teams I didn't fire before Week 8. I had to fire them when it looked like Churchill was a lock to make the playoffs. With 2 weeks left in district:
SV 4-1
Madison 4-1
Churchill 3-2 and wins over Judson and SV
Reagan 2-3
Judson 2-3
MacArthur 2-3 I think
Judson couldn't beat out SV or Madison since they lost to both. All Churchill needed to do was beat Reagan and knock Judson out. I thought they'd do it, but they didn't. Once they lost to Reagan, I took Judson back and said they'd find a way to win by 21 over Reagan, who had just beat the team that shut out Judson for the first time in 19 years. I had faith in the Rockets, but didn't put the same trust in Reagan over Churchill.
