Yeah we both share pennington field, only this year we get the home side thank God. Its a lot bigger and usually the Trojan faithful have stronger attendance. If I do have one knock on Southlake games :D is that they don't have any heated rivalries other than perhaps when the play lufkin in the playoffs or if they were ever to play katy again. Records dont have much meaning in this rivalry.

Yes it is at Pennington. Trinity is home team and Bell will sit on visitors side.
Arrive at least by 7pm or risk no seats. Lines are long. Pick a side and cheer for that team. Our fans are avid be it Bell or Trinity. It is always a huge rivilary and good game no matter who is the dominate team. It will be a good night out for sure. See you there.

Just for everyone's info...the Haka is not to intimidate anyone as I have seen posted here. It is a team unifying and cultural embrace of the Tongan community. It is a school spirit thing for the Trojans and all the fans get into it with the team. It is nice to recognize the community who offers so much to the program at Trinity.

It's still pretty scary! Wouldn't want to be on the other side of the field.

I don't think I've ever seen so much make-up and colored hair huddled together for mutual reassurance and comfort. :p

Real funny SLC DAD. What do you guys do? I bet you get together and balance check books and compare business profits. That real estate commercial during the Denton game was really bad. Showing off high priced houses is in poor taste for schools that have to struggle to feed their kids. Get real, when do do 13 year old kids talk about houses down the street up for sale? Very poor taste and egotistical.

You can't block a snot slingin Linebacker with a checkbook..last time I looked football is still a violent game & you have to knock the crap out of the other guy before he does it to you & Carroll does it better than anyone in 5-A....IMO

"snot slinging" ?????? - You guys are incredible - you think you do EVERYTHING better than ANYONE in 5-A - there are plenty of teams out there that hit just as hard if not harder than your guys! Your D allows quite a few yards against them each week. There have been a couple of exceptions but not many.

I will address your points in order, not because the message was to me but because it's a general indictment of SLC:
1. I do accounting work for a living--not at football games.
2. You're right--that real estate commercial is really bad--I think it's the same one they ran during the Carroll-Midland Lee game back in Week Zero, and it hasn't improved since (although the Dragons have).
3. In the Carroll ISD, we mostly feed our own kids--the school doesn't have to struggle to fulfill our parental responsibility for us (although it does struggle somewhat thanks to Robinhood, as do some of us parents to pay our property taxes).

Don't kid yourself. CISD struggles as much financially as Jesuit does...not at all. Robin Hood has absoloutely ZERO effect on a district where the average home price is somewhere around $400k.

Actually, it's the districts with a heavy industrial tax base where the homeowners suffer little from Robinhood or property taxes in general. When you're relying primarily on residential property to generate tax revenue, the homeowners do get pinched. At least I'm through paying athletic participation fees, school parking fees, etc. since my youngest has graduated (although those were small in comparison to the property taxes on my below-average Carroll ISD home).

Yes, the homeowners do suffer, I agree. But the district itself doesn't suffer, because it has such a wealthy tax base.

The really funny thing is that the Haka isn't a Tongan dance, it's Maori. Why didn't they at least pick something that represents the Tongan culture. Are there any Maori on the team?
But the Haka isn't a war dance, it isn't made for intimidation. The Haka was originally a prayer of thanksgiving for surviving, and it's something that gets the team psyched.

In my experience, the size of the tax base tends to be much greater, and the tax rates correspondingly much lower, in heavy industrial districts than in residential ones (even those with $400k homes). At a refinery, for example, $400k is only a few feet of pipe and a couple of valves (exaggerated for emphasis).
Case in point--Deer Park ISD on the Houston Ship Channel (where a company for which I used to work in Houston had facilities). Lots of heavy industry, nice but modest homes, very low tax rates, and lots of tax revenue. Even under our current Robinhood system, a district like Deer Park can raise a lot more revenue with a one cent per hundred rate increase than can one like Carroll (or Klein or Humble--others in which I've lived that have largely residential tax bases). Of course thanks to Robinhood, maybe even Deer Park, Laporte, etc. are maxed out on their M&O rates now--it's been years since I was looking at those DPISD bills.
But I shouldn't be concerned with any of this anyway--three or four more special sessions and one or two more lawsuits from now our wonderful Texas Legislature and State Supreme Court will have everything fixed just fine.
Did I mention that I also believe in fairy tales? (Hey, I do support Dragons.)

Enough about taxes and all that junk. It comes down to the kids and how bad they want it. Euless trinity has definately had the talent in the past to be like southlake carrol in their dominance, but they really werent the team. This is the most unified team that ive ever seen in the history of euless trinity.

And the coaches. I imagine Coach Lineweaver would really enjoy a shot at the team he didn't end up as head coach of about ten years ago. If it happens, the Dragons and Trojans should be a classic matchup of players and coaches--and some pretty good fans (not that we have anything to do with the outcome).
