Regular season or possible playoff match ups?
Westlake and Hays will be a great one in week 10 for the 16-5A crown.

I think Hays will take Westlake. Westlake is not what they use to be plus Hays can put some numbers up if your not careful.

I agree with dada4w. North Shore vs. Westfield will be one to see. Based on recent past history, especially last year, it will be a great one. Both have to take care of business in the first round for this matchup to take place.

It has to be Trinity and SLC, 2 teams that havent really even had a close game this year. This game would be a serious battle, but then again so would any of those games.

Euless Trinity Trojans vs Southlake Carroll Dragons
possibly the game of the year, by far it even happens...all eyes in 6-5A are on the Grapevine Mustangs, if they clinch a play-off spot, there will be a 5-5A, 6-5A power house match up in the first round of the play-offs.
Who will win. I dont know, and honestly, it will be a nasty game, I think the two of the best schools in the Country...yes i said country, are SLC and ET..

Im crossing my fingers that SLC goes D2 so Lufkin will get another shot at them. I want Lufkin to win state but I dont want it handed to us. But we still have Longview to look after but I really want SLC not trying to overlook Longview its just that when you loose to them liek you have the past 2 times there is a little bad blood. But its all for the love of the game SLC best HS Dynasty since Midland Lee and Benson.

Sorry Purple but uve guys have had 2 at bats vs. the man. Obviously the Slc matchup is entincing because theyre the man and EVERYBODY wants the validation that comes with beating them. From a Trinity perpespective a long 2nd choice would be ET vs. LV for a different reason. Because of the similar styles of play and the opportunity to see who has the state's best backfield.

Probably more so than last year.

Hays is much less talented than they have been the last two years. Waters is exceptional, but he is all they have. Their Defense is slow and their QB is a game manager, not a game-breaker.
There is the fact that the game will be at their place, however.
Westlake should win this one, and they are not as far from what they used to be as you may be inclined to think.

I think the Longview and Euless Trinity match up would be great. Then they could find out who does have the best backfield tandem in the State.
However, I think Longview, like alot of us has an eye toward getting to Southlake Carroll.
Of cousrse they want Lufkin too, but they want that prize at the top more.

Houston Austin vs. Houston Sam Houston! :D
The first one to 1 wins! One of them may give up a safety on purpose to end the game! :D

LOL, That would really be something if one of them could score, however the other team probably would get penalized on the play and thus the score would end 0-0.
On a serious note, North Shore vs. Westfield would be my choice for now.

Katy vs. North Shore/Westfield winner!! The ground in Houston will shudder!!
I am not ready to jump on the Katy bandwagon just yet (like I did in 03 :D ) but all ya'll better look out cause the big red machine is cranking up. I saw them twice this year and this is a different kind of Katy cat.
Until I see them (Katy) play a couple of more times though I am keeping my colors a deep shade of lp purple!! :D

Re Hays and Westlake
I agree that this is a match up that a lot of folks are waiting for. I also agree with the post above that Westlake will surprise some of you. They played a much stronger non-district schedule (Leander, Westwood and AMC). While Hays played two 4A teams (Ellison and Austin LBJ) and they required two OTs to beat Bastrop. . I respect Hays and they have a good team However, the Westlake Offensive Coordinator seems to be doing a better job lately of calling plays and they have the capability to put up a lot of points – just ask Westwood and AMC. Assuming their defense is healthy, I believe that Westlake is the better team and will take District 16. In any case, we will know how it all turns out in a few weeks. Hopefully each team will be able to take care of business and they both come into the final game healthy and undefeated in District play.
