I believe it changes from year to year. IMO, Division 2 (SLC and Katy) is probably better. Although I would love to see either one of them tangle with Permian.....that would be a great game!:D

Wow, both sides are have still got all 4 playoff teams from 26-5a in them...two in D.I and two in D.II, but to be honest I believe that D.II is the strongest this year and they have some great games coming up...but that is ok with me...Judson is in D.I and that means we actually have a chance at reaching the quarter finals...championship, it surely is possible...for team that has battled as much injury, sickness and let downs as we have...that would be huge in securing Judson as one of the greatest programs in the state...

ask Carrol if d2 is harder.....they miss trinity, permian ,bowie and plano and or skyline..... d1 tougher in this bracket by far,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,look who Katy has to play then look at who carrol has to play....then compare that to who mojo has to play to get to the finals no comparisan........

Which is why the old days were better when 32 teams made up the bracket consisting of all district champs.

I think this year is probably the closest the two divisions have been since it started. DII has Katy and SLC among others but D1 has OP and Trinity among others. Both Divisions have some quality teams and should have some great battles. :notworthy

D1 is tougher in regions 1-3.

Yes, but Carroll gets Abilene, and perhaps Hebron, Longwood, Smithson Valley or Katy. The two highest ranked teams are in D-2 this year. I still maintain that the two divisions are about as equally matched this year as they have ever been.

DI is slightly deeper but it's a very equitable split. The last several post seasons have had brackets that were overwhelmingly weighted.

I'm close to that mindset. I believe that the inclusion of the runners up was the right move. After that, playoff expansion is nothing more than dilution.

o.k. Abilene was second in our District, Smithson Valley beat spring by 7...Marcus beat Hebron...and Longview lost to lufkin.....not real real srong till maybe ..state and Katy path is lighter they play pas..memorial this week who got killed by N. shore who is D1.. then they probably play ridge.

Why does one have to be better than the other? Why can't we just say that both are equally good because the awesome level of football that is played here in Texas?

hehe. I am going to the SLC - Abeline Game this weekend. I'll be the one red shirt in the crowd of 25,000 Green shirts.
Division 1
Permian and Trinity in Region I
Plano and Westfield in Region II
Northshore and Cy Ridge in Region III
Judson and Reagan in Region IV
Division 2
Abilene and Southlake Carroll in Region I
Longview in Region II
Katy, Stratford, and Clements in Region III
Smithson Valley and Madison in Region IV
I'd say it's pretty balanced in I and IV. Region II is definitely stronger in D1, and there's a slight edge to D1 in Region III.

Hebron is no slouch....they knocked off DeSoto last week who by the way had wins over Bowie and Cedar Hill. They were a tough team that took Hebron to 4 over times. Yes, Marcus got one on Hebron, but using that as a benchmark to discount them is a weak argument.
Trick question. There is no correct answer. Whichever one your team is the closest correct answer. Must have been asked by a Ridge fan without much experience on either side of the brackets.

Div II-Katy, Southlake, Cedar Hill, Smithson Valley, SA Madison, Longview, Leander, Abilene, DeSoto, Hebron.
Div I-Odessa Permian, Trinity, Arlington Bowie, Plano, Westfield, Northshore
Div II wins.

I gotta go with Division II because of Katy and Southlake. However, Division I is sick this year with Trinity, Permian, and Judson. I'd love to see a Permian/Judson matchup at state. That would be one for the ages. Plus it would be nice to have another red and green Christmas with Katy/SLC.

I meant Region II in D1 is stronger than Region II in D2, not that Region II is stronger than Region I. In D1 the RI-RII state semi-final could be incredible. In D2, RI should mop the floor with DII.

Not necessarily. If Bowie beats Coronado, they will get to play Permian or Trinity, and that will be a very fun game to watch. Plano or Westfield vs. Skyline or Round Rock will be fun to watch as well, because they all have good offenses. North Shore or Cy Fair vs. Cy Ridge would be fun, and ANOTHER one would be Reagan vs. Judson. Sounds like to me the 4th round in D1 will still be very fun to watch.
