OK, you know the routine. The following schools in Houston have shown it's time to start getting ready for basketball season. Turn in your jocks and socks.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:31 PM
Cy Falls. They're walking on thin ice. They'll make the playoffs if they keep their nose clean, but as a secondary team to the best teams in district who can't beat the top teams in Houston, they'll be overmatched in the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:33 PM
Cy Ridge. The Cy Falls game is a playoff game. Whoever wins it makes the playoffs, but neither team has what it takes to get on a run.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:34 PM
Cy Springs. Their persistence will pay off in a win. Too bad they have lost too many in a row. They're getting better and that's the most you can ask of your team in a losing season.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:36 PM
J Village is just not the same this year. I get the feeling their season is about to take a turn south. They're not headed in the right direction.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:38 PM
Langham Creek. The next 2 games will finish off a disappointing up and down season that will be mediocre in record and frustrating as a fan. No playoffs for these guys.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:39 PM
Magnolia. I'll go ahead and say they'll go 0-10. They haven't tanked the year because they're just that bad!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:41 PM
Tomball. The first few weeks have set these guys up for a potential playoff spot, and they might win a game.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:44 PM
Aldine. The scary thing is they're one of the better teams in the district. It doesn't really matter when they start playing playoff games, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:46 PM
Aldine Eisenhower. Eagleike what happened to your boys? :p I want them one more time, especially this year! They'll be back in the future and should be better down the stretch.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:47 PM
A MacArthur. Nothing much to say except the loss to H Memorial will help keep them out of the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:49 PM
A Nimitz. I don't know what these guys are doing. They're off the charts and very inconsistent. That will beat them earlier in the playoffs than they want to accept.
RedRage00
10-14-2005, 01:15 PM
You could have posted all that in ONE entire post.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:20 PM
H Memorial. Pearland and Westfield put a number on them and that's all I needed to know for the playoffs. They haven't really gotten better in the last few weeks, but they're holding steady and will make the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:21 PM
You could have posted all that in ONE entire post.
It would be too long. I get tired of some of the long posts.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:22 PM
H Northbrook. These guys are offensive; at least on defense! :p They're well on their way to being one of the 10 worst teams in 5A.
RedRage00
10-14-2005, 01:24 PM
It would be too long. I get tired of some of the long posts.
LOL
It would not be as long as all these posts together HAHA
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:24 PM
H Spring Woods. They're bad, but so is the district. Besides Northbrook, it almost seems like they're destined to beat somebody else. Bigger losses will follow these recent close losses.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:26 PM
H Stratford. These guys will make the playoffs and just might win a game. What else they do all depends on if the big boys all go D1.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:26 PM
LOL
It would not be as long as all these posts together HAHA
Just sit back and enjoy all my hard work! :D
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:29 PM
A Elsik. These guys aren't good, but I still think they'll spoil somebody's season. They always play good teams and that gives you a chance to pull off a shocker. They're good for a few more wins this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:32 PM
A Hastings. I have no faith in these guys in the playoffs the way NS and Katy beat them. They're bad enough we don't have to worry about the playoffs, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:34 PM
A Taylor. I guess with last week's win you can say they turned over a new leaf! :D I'm seeing some more wins, but they won't run the table and barely miss the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:36 PM
K Cinco Ranch. This is a hard-luck team with close losses. Those losses will keep mounting because it's hard to get out of a rut.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:38 PM
K Mayde Creek. What happened to this district this year? The Katy teams are all bad except Katy High. I MC loses the last 4 games.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:40 PM
K Taylor. OK, these guys make the playoffs. They're not great, but being real good is not a requirement to make the playoffs in 19-5A! I don't see a lot of good in the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:42 PM
FB Bush. Congrats on winning last week. It's not easy to keep playing when you can't win. They'll be back to losing again, though. No playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:44 PM
FB Elkins. I think these guys are getting worse. That means no playoffs this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:46 PM
FB Austin. Here's a playoff team for you. They get in because of the district more than the team. They probably lose in Round 1.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:47 PM
FB Clements. They're your 2nd place team that's something you don't want if it looks like you're playing Katy.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:50 PM
FB Dulles. They're playing for the end of the year. Hopefully, they learn something over the next few weeks. It's never fun for a fan to see a team go into a funk.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:52 PM
FB Hightower is winning, but the comp has been weak. That's not good long-term.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 01:57 PM
FB Kempner. I want to give these guys a chance. They might get pretty good over the last few games. I still think they lose to FB Marshall, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:00 PM
FB Willowridge. Just another one of your decent Texas teams in a bad district. There are plenty out there and this team won't hang around too long in the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:10 PM
You know as much I'm saying about Region 3, somebody has to make the playoffs and somebody has to win, too. The top half of the bracket is weak, but the bottom is stronger.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:15 PM
Houston Austin. These guys are 0-6 and shut out in their last 5 games, including 74-0. Governor Perry called to say they must change their name because they're disgracing the State of Texas! :p I don't know if Pete Gareri will make it to coach Year 2. What kind of analysis can I do on these guys? The fact they're favored to win a game says volumes about this district. :D

Lonny...I think ALL HISD schools should be closed down and made into one school...maybe then they will compete.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:18 PM
Houston Bellaire. Here's another one of my boys playing 4A. I hope they enjoy beating up on the kids, because they'll miss the playoffs like almost everybody else that does the same thing. 4th or 5th place for the Cardinals.
PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF OUR WORK TENT ARE HOLLERING, "YOU'RE FIRED!" How appropriate for this thread! :D
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:20 PM
Houston Chavez. These guys are just average. I don't think they'll make the playoffs, but they have a slight chance. The guys in 22 are better and will knock them out of the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:22 PM
H Milby. Let's see, they're 0-3 in district and a BAD district at that. When has Milby had a good team? I sure don't remember it. No playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:29 PM
H Sam Houston. I apologize for making fun of Arlington Sam Houston because these guys are worse! You know it's bad when you're an underdog to H Austin, but they are. I must say when Austin has 5 shoutout losses and 16 points and SH has 5 shutout losses and 8 points, they must be worse. That 69-0 loss last week didn't help.
I bet the KT's are already planning the Game of the Week for Week 8:
HOUSTON AUSTIN VS. HOUSTON SAM HOUSTON!
It will go to 25 OT's because that's how long it will take for somebody to score!
Actually, with the bad defenses they have, I'll say Austin 24 Sam Houston 21. This is the kind of game I'd like to see!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:31 PM
H Westside. These guys are an anomaly. They'll get 3rd place and might win a playoff game. The district is awful, but they have 3 pretty good teams that call it home, too! Westside was a lot better last year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:34 PM
Baytown Lee. It's hard to do this district because they haven't been playing and the new zones are crazy. Lee is 0-4 and that tells me they aren't going to the playoffs. They'll put up a good fight, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:35 PM
Baytown Sterling. They're 2-2, but the new schedule is going to eat their lunch. No playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:37 PM
Humble Kingwood. They'll be underdogs in most of the remaining games and I don't see anything to say they'll win. Get ready for next year, boys.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:38 PM
PA Memorial. Don't ask me why, but I feel like they'll make a little comeback and win a few games. I still don't see the playoffs though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:40 PM
Spring. Hope sprung eternal in Spring until the last 2 games. Now I see future losses and no playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:42 PM
Deer Park. These guys are a pretty good team. The district has more depth this year and that's the death knell to their playoff hopes. The last 3 games are going to be what kills them.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:44 PM
LaPorte. Well, these guys are on the list, but they have a pretty good team and have been winning big. I might look to take them off the list if the Bulldogs run the table. They'll be in the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:45 PM
Pasadena. All you need to know about these guys is they got pounded by LaPorte. That means no playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:46 PM
P Dobie. Hey, these guys win games and will make the playoffs. I don't take anybody seriously when they lose to NS by 52 points, though.
stangsfan
10-14-2005, 02:47 PM
Lonny - so by default, Beaumont Westbrook will make the 22-5a playoffs?
I certainly don't see it happening.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:48 PM
P Memorial. The wheels are about to fall off. That 4-0 start will look great as this team falls apart before our eyes. 5-5 finish for these guys and no playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:49 PM
P Sam Rayburn. Times are going to get tough for the Texans (They already are for the Big Texans!). They got false hope from the first 3 teams because they're so bad.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:52 PM
P South Houston. These guys won't win any of the last 4 games and will have a terrible year. It's just going to get worse and worse.

Man, I don't know. They've played and pounded 4A teams which is usually a sign to me that failure is ahead, but they don't have the followup games to prove one way or the other what will happen. When I see what they do in district, I'll have a better idea. They might get their heads handed to them. I bet I don't keep them in that Final 56 for very long.

They might because PA has played tougher teams. That always helps.

Now THAT took some work!! I don't agree with a few of them - I do agree though that the game tomorrow between Falls and Ridge will have a "playoff" feel because whomever loses is pretty much done unless everyone else implodes too. If Falls wins out, they are in, I believe - and I truly feel that they are getting better with each game - I see a new attitude in them and I think they would get past any 18-5a team including Memorial (who isn't as strong as last year IMHO).
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:57 PM
I think Spring could beat them.
If these teams start beating BWB, you'll see another team make the jump into the playoffs. I just want to see these guys play somebody!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 02:58 PM
Alvin. They can't beat teams with losing records. They sure won't beat teams with winning records.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:00 PM
Brazoswood. That Clear Brook loss broke the Camel's back for a schizo team. 4A wins, close wins, and scattered losses is not a recipe for success.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:01 PM
Clear Brook. 4 losses in a row to winning teams means they can't win a playoff game, but the scary part is they might make the playoffs!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:03 PM
Clear Creek. I don't let any team stick around with 4 losses in a row. The followup wins are nice, though. Times will get tougher, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 03:06 PM
Clear Lake. I can't believe these guys are this bad. They were in the semis last year. Needless to say, they won't be in the playoffs.

Yeah were having loads of fun down here. The loudest applause during our game against Alvin came when the announcer told us "Astros are ahead of teh Cards 1 to 0"
Question: If a quarterback AVERAGES 2 LOST fumbles a game, how long will you continue to start him?
Answer: If your coach Aduddell it will take you until the end of next year when he graduates because our much better back up has quit out of frustration.

Maybe the QB has a secret on the coach and he's blackmailing him!
It's a shame you got so bad overnight.

10-18-2005, 02:37 PM
OK, easy cut this week. The competition is going to be tough in D1, but D2 looks like it may be real weak. That's going to leave plenty of teams in for a while. 1 team goes out and 12 remain (Cy Creek, Strake Jesuit, Katy, North Shore, Westfield, FB Marshall, H Lamar, H Madison, B West Brook, Humble, G Ball, and Pearland).
lonny23
10-18-2005, 02:38 PM
Cy Fair is out. They beat Cy Creek, who's still in but that's because Cy Fair will be D1 and Cy Creek is D2. D1 is stronger.

Houston Strake Jesuit. You would've been out a few weeks ago if you'd taken your beating from Katy. You're playing average ball in a somewhat weak district.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:15 AM
FB Marshall. You guys are just too bland and not going to last since it looks like Katy will be D2 after all.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:16 AM
Houston Madison. Boy that district is bad. You guys had a chance until Katy dropped into your bracket.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:18 AM
Beaumont West Brook. Weak early opponents and a hurricane that cancelled games is what got you this far. You're not a big playoff winner.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:19 AM
Humble. You need to be...well more HUMBLE! I just don't see you beating the big boys in D1.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:20 AM
Galveston Ball. You looked good for a while, but you're not in Katy's class.

Just call me a soothsayer:rolleyes: Also, the implosion did happen a bit as well so that helped us get in too. We really didn't know we were in until the very last game that was played in the district that Saturday night...it was all in other players hands and out of ours. It was a very exciting end to the regular season and the playoffs were even better!!

Like I said last night, I randomly checked stuff and pointed out the good and bad. I didn't do too bad for starting those threads in September and continuing on. I'll do the firing threads again this year.
will be looking forward to it:eek:

Its all good, you made some great calls and you nailed Pearland in the NS matchup. Looks like UIL threw them a bone for this season by moving NS's district.

Well, you can probbly go ahead and get started with some schools even before they start fall practice! You know you can go ahead and throw Dallas Molina and FW Paschal under the bus right now!

Humble. You need to be...well more HUMBLE! I just don't see you beating the big boys in D1.
that is a most def... Somthing this team has been lacking is humility... The teams are usally very cocky... But this year we bring a team focus and humble players, and a whole lot of talent...

I agree with Lonny on BWestbrook.... if it hadnt been for the Hurricane i dont think these guys would of have had a chance... They for the most part were put in the easier Zone of 22-5a... There only challange was Westfield. They havent played anyone.

Yes, some teams don't start with much rope. Sometimes I get burned by the past. Lubbock Monterey has burned me both ways in the last couple of years.

I keep hoping United South will win a game. I'm going to call a win for Laredo United South this year.
