I watched Forest and think Pack will take this game fairly easily.
Watch out for Ty Robinson though, he has some speed along with other weapons they have. If Ty breaks open though, he is gone!

I am shocked to see the two votes for KF. All I ever see on this board is how good Lufkin is. If they are that good, why would anyone say that KF could beat them at Abe. Sounds like a stretch to me.

Very bold prediction. That would have Lufkin scoring their third highest point total of the year against what some would say is an above average defense.

KF better be ready for the "abe" experience.... call it mystique, call it tradition, call it what you want but throwing batteries, pennies and other small objects along with cursing and screaming insults seems to work in their favor to get their opponents off their game....

I've been beaten into submission, Lufkin 42 - KF 6. (that is Lufkin 42, dash, KF 6, not minus KF..., oh, nevermind).
Looking at mutual opponents, Conroe scored on the opening drive versus Lufkin, yet didn't score until the 4th verus KF's reserves. Hmm.
Seeing the "speedy" receivers that Klein had repeatedly getting behind the Lufkin secondary had to be a concern, especially considering the speed that KF will bring in at the WR position.
Should be a close game. LP 42 - KF 6.

As much as I would like Lufkin to win this game, I think folks will find this game to be very close; I give it to Klein Forest.
I've seen Klein Forest's defense. They shut down The Woodlands in the 2nd half (one 1st down, 35 yards total offense).
This will be a defensive struggle decided in the last few drives of the game; similar to TWHS vs Lufkin last year. If you stop Lufkin's passing attack, you will have a chance.
Why Klein Forest? They really need this game. They will find a way. Both teams have great defenses & will offset. The "tricky" offense will win.
Klein Forest 17 - Lufkin 14

Do I detect a hint of sarcasm PTH? :) Or am I just a dumb bumpkin spending too much time in the public library? I think the game will be far closer than that. KF brings an element Lufkin hasn't seen - but I think the soph. qb will be a bit taken back by his environment. If KF gets their offensive act together and Lufkin looks more like Klein first half than Klein second half - the game is on. I'm reserving a prediction until later.

Indeed KF has a tough defense but we have the 1 2 step at QB to WR with Claybon to Bryant. I cant see KF playing with Lufkin after 2 quarters plus our defense is simply amazing.

Is that all you can come up with? Were you hit by a battery, penny or other small object at Abe in the past or did you just hear a rumor about something that might have happened in the 60's or 70's? Heck this is about the second time I have heard about this and both times have been in here and I think both times have been from your messages. I can guarantee you that almost EVERY football team across Texas has it's share of IDIOT fans who don't know how to act like civilized human beings and that includes all races. But there are a majority of fans that are respectful and courteous. So please don't act like all the fans at your school's football games are little angels who can do no wrong.

This game is at Abe Martin on a Monday night. I don't care how much you say KF needs this game, we protect our house in Lufkin. Our defense is better than the KF defense and they have not played an offense with the number of skilled position people we have in place.
I predict Lufkin to win 35 - 17.
Go Pack!

Very few stadiums handle the home team like Abe does. On the visitor side, the tickets office has a visitor line and a Lufkin fan line for LP fans that can't get season tickets on the home side.
Most stadiums have a policy against mixing crowds because it can lead to problems. The Lufkin fans on the visitor side for Lufkin are, should I say, a little salty and vocal but all fun. They did get to Collins QB Luke last year and the Police moved in to insure it stayed verbal. Luke had rabbit ears and admitted it afterwards.
We, of coarse, lost at Abe so we never had a problem but mixing crowds like that could be a recipe for success.
LP fans, has there ever been any problems on the visitors side? I know you never lose there and was just wondering.

Yes, there has been problems in the past, especially with the old district rivals. Most of the Lufkin fans on the visitors side would not sit on the home side if you gave them free season tickets. They are over there because they love to mix it up, as you say. By they way, Lufkin season tickets are always purchased before the season starts, they are never sold at the gate. There are general admission and reserved tickets sold on the visitor side at Abe and Lufkin fans buy both. The reason Lufkin fans sit there is because there hasn't been any room for them on the home side for several years. The home side seats approx. 6400 and visitor side seats approx. 3600 and the band, drill and pep squads from each school take up 1 section on each side or approx. 1200 seats leaving only 8,800 tickets to be sold for a game. We could sell that many just to Lufkin fans. We will need to do something different for The Woodlands game, because there are 1200 seat extra right there that could be sold for that game if we move the bands to temporary seating behind the endzones.

First off there are not seperate lines on the visitor side for Lufkin fans and opponent fans. There are 2 lines however they are for Reserved and General Admission tickets. The only reason Lufkin fans sit on the visitor side is because there is not enough room on the home side. Heck most visiting teams hardly bring any fans anyway and it would be a waste of space to not allow Lufkin fans to sit on that side just to keep fans away from each other. For the most part there is not as much smack talk as you would think but when there is it is usually from the kids. Every now and then there is a little smack talk between some of the adults but it has always been with a laugh and a smile and the only time I have really seen it is when we have played Longview or Tyler Lee in the past when we were in the same district. I know that when teams came to Abe last year I along with some other Lufkin fans paid some compliments to some of the visiting teams fans. Lufkin fans for the most part are respectful but like I have stated before, there is alway a group of fans that don't know how to act in a civilized manner and that will be at most schools all across Texas. That is just the way it is in todays world. There are good cops and bad cops, good lawyers and bad layers, good fans and bad fans, and the list goes on. I experienced the bad side of some fans twice when we played in Aldine last season. The sad thing about that night is that the first bad experience was with one of our own fans. A young Lufkin punk was acting a fool in the parking lot. Yeah he was real tough trying to disrespect his girlfriend in public and then trying to get an attitude with me. Then as I drove further down the parking lot some Ike kids were cussing at me and my son saying we sucked and Lufkin sucked etc.. Well I think I shut them up pretty quick without even getting out of my car. And no I did not try to run over them. But I did not leave there thinking that all of Ikes fans are like that. I have enough sense to know better then that unlike some clueless people in here that make assumptions about all of our fans based on the acts of a few.

Did some of our fans tell you they were over there because they love to mix it up or is that just your assumption? I have been sitting over there for the last 3 seasons and have not seen any problems. I had season tickets and let them go because I was not sure if I would be able to make all the games due to work. For the most part I would say most of the fans are respectable and are there to WATCH THE GAME not to MIX IT UP. And how do you know that most of the fans would not sit on the home side if you gave them season tickets. Did you go ask each one? I know I haven't been asked. One of my old friends that lives in Houston sits on the visitors side with his grandfather and uncle. If I had not started sitting over there I probably wouldn't have even known he was coming to Lufkin to watch the games. Now we meet up almost every home game and we all watch the game together. I might also add that I get great seats and they are better then the season ticket holder seats that I had on the home side. I know you know a lot about Lufkin football and our history etc. but I think your statements are a little off on this subject. At least when it comes to the past 3 seasons that I have been sitting over there. If the truth be told I actually think it is more peaceful on the visitors side then on the home side general admission area. I have sat there maybe 3 or 4 times in the last 3 seasons so I could sit with family that came to the game and when I did sit there I was wishing I was back on the visitors side. It is just better in my opinion. Now when I had the season tickets the seats that I had were ok and the reserved section was a bit calmer then the general admission area. Don't get the fact that I am using word such as peaceful and calm as meaning I don't cheer, yell, etc. I am just refering to some of the other nonsense that some kids and fans do during the game.

LufPan, I would not mention it unless I knew what I was talking about. Yes, I know fans personally that sit on the visitors side because they like sitting there and have told me they get a kick out of some friendly banter with the visitors from time to time. As far as season tickets go, I have been on row 40 by the home pressbox for 20 years so I don't have any recent experiences to relate with, but I did sit on the visitor side before 1985 because I didn't have season tickets and it was easier to get tickets on the visitor side. When I said "mix it up", I didn't mean fan fights or arguments, I meant the usual friendly fan boasting and stuff that goes on, all in good fun.
Really nothing to get all unraveled about. Yea, I have been around and closley associated with Lufkin football a few years.

funny you mention this because the ex hc at IKE (carsons?) couldn't even bring his kids in at halftime b/c it was so bad... but don't take my word for it, be a TRUE fan and represent OUR east texas well by not letting this happen

Abe is just different. Most school DO NOT allow sides to mix like that. I think the security was good and it made for some friendly banter. When it got even a little heated, boys in blue made their presense known and it quieted down. It has been fine with this district because there is no real rivalries build up between Lufkin and others plus LP fans out number Houston fans 100-1. LP is used to travel, just the nature of the geography. Unfortunately, I am afraid this will be a 2 year trial and Klein/Conroe ISD's will make it a close 8 team district with Huntsville dropping out.

Yeah but you did not do the hyphen or dash the correct way according to you earlier!! Your prediction should be Lufkin 42 KF -6!! Big difference huh?? ;)
I do not expect a blow out because KF has a very good defense with speed. Lufkin wins 30-13 but it will be a true test and you never know?? Lufkin is scary tough at abe like most know.

I have been on the home side for years and years since i was in highschool in the 90's and i have never seen that kind of rude behavior there. I have heard rumors on the visitor side but no i have not seen it for myself so i personally do not know if it is true?? I know the majority of Lufkin fans are great but we have our share of idiots no doubt. I have seen a few on the road games.

I have been sitting on the visitor side since 1999 and have been to about 90% of the home games in that time. I usually sit in the reserved seats about row 30 right on the 50. I have seen a little banter back and forth but no real problems. The Houston schools dont bring enough fans to cause any real problems. If anything gets thrown on the field most likely it would come from the student section on the home side. There is a fairly decent amount of security at Abe and the Lufkin Police Department is not full of shrinking violets. Any serious trouble and you will find yourself in cuffs.
