View Full Version : You're fired (Region 2)

All the bad teams and the one's who don't have enough stuff get a mention here. I can't call it love, because I'll make fun of a few of them. OK, a lot of them!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:39 AM
Dallas Adams. Misery loves company and they have plenty in 9-5A. They might be 0-6, but they have plenty of hope to win a game. I bet they win 1 or 2 games.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:41 AM
Dallas Molina. These guys are getting worse, but the worst is probably already behind them this year. I don't know if they'll ever be any good.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:42 AM
Dallas Samuell. They might get the last playoff spot. That gets them a quick exit from the playoffs, not that 10-5A is that much better.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:43 AM
Dallas Skyline. They'll keep the playoff streak alive and very few teams have made the playoffs in 5A for the last 10 years in a row. Hey, they may win a game and be happy until they lose in Round 2.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:44 AM
Dallas Sunset. The joke is too easy, but yes the sun has already set on their season! :D DISD sure is bad in football, but track and basketball make up for it.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:46 AM
Dallas White. They're an average team in a bad district. The Samuell loss is what will keep them out of the playoffs this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:48 AM
Carrollton Creekview. They lost to Rockwall and a 4A team, but have 3 wins in a row. Those were weak teams, but they deserve the chance to play their way off of this list. It will take some huge margins of victory and running the table.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:49 AM
Carrollton Smith. One big win over a bad team can't erase losing bad to the best team in district. No playoffs this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:51 AM
Carrollton Turner. It looks like they've given up on the year and playing the string out. That's a shame, but they weren't going to be that great to start with.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:52 AM
Dallas Jesuit. After a district title last year and decent playoff run, they're finding out the UIL is tougher than they thought. I'm somewhat surprised.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:55 AM
Richardson Berkner. These guys will go 10-0 and be D1. They can win games, but not covering the spread makes me think they'll get a good beating somewhere along the way in Region 2. It won't be in Week 1 and it might not be in Week 2, but I bet they're gone by Week 3.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:56 AM
Lake Highlands. The Longview game pretty much told the story and Berkner finished the deal off because that said they weren't a top team in the region.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 10:59 AM
Richardson. Not only did they play their way out of great season over the last few games, but last week's loss will put them out of the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:01 AM
Richardson Pearce. These guys will have a great year and probably go 8-2. That won't get them too far in the playoffs with Longview or JT looming in Round 2.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:03 AM
Lakeview Centennial. Something really went wrong here. They weren't playing that great against real good teams to start with, but the last 2 weeks have been horrendous. They won't come out of this tailspin.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:05 AM
G Naaman Forest. The scores the last couple of weeks tell me they're headed for a 1-9 season and a new coach! This looks like another team that has given up on the year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:07 AM
Garland Sachse. This team is a classic example why you don't want to play chumps in pre-district. Now that the competition has gotten tougher, they've wilted from the pressure. They've gone from the penthouse to the outhouse and won't make the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:09 AM
North Garland. They might play their way into the playoffs, but I doubt they'll beat 12-5A. They're not bad, but the guys next door have a tough district.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:11 AM
South Garland. I'm betting they get the old collar and finish in 4th. First loser is never fun in sports, but that's their lot this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:13 AM
Mesquite. I gave these guys a chance until the last few weeks just because of last year. The Longview loss was excessive, but I've been giving a lot of teams a pass for a real bad game. The JT loss sealed the deal and said they aren't the same in 2005 as 2004. At least that team last year, had some tough losses.

and I thought I was the only one who did homework...good Job Lonny, hurry back so we can have a drink before I retire and move to Tucson...I will still follow my roots, a.k.a. Longview Lobos...
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:15 AM
Mesquite Horn. These guys have nothing to be ashamed of. They are what they are and that's an average team. They beat the bad teams and lose to the good teams. That doesn't get you to the playoffs in 12-5A.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:17 AM
and I thought I was the only one who did homework...good Job Lonny, hurry back so we can have a drink before I retire and move to Tucson...I will still follow my roots, a.k.a. Longview Lobos...
I'll be back in late January and back to work in early February in nice, hot Wichita Falls. I'll leave snow here and might go to it there. The hard part is moving back into a house in cold weather. It was burning hot when I moved out.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:20 AM
North Mesquite. They blew their shot for the playoffs the first 2 weeks of district when they lost close ones. Their problem all year has been losing close games. They probably won't win any of the last 3 games. They were good when I was in high school, but this isn't the 80's anymore!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:23 AM
Tyler Lee. You know I was glad to can these guys! :D Their power rating is real good and they can still make the playoffs. It's going to take running the table and I think JT beats them to end their year. The losses to the top teams tell me that their playoff run will get short-circuited in Region 2 if they do come back.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:29 AM
A&M Consolidated. They were an unhappy victim for some fans, but I couldn't help it. The record looks good, but they aren't winning by enough points. They're not getting better and they'll lose to somebody else in district besides Cove. It doesn't matter if they go D1 or D2. Region 2 has something for them and they won't like it!
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:30 AM
Belton. I gave them extra chances because the Abilene game, but all they did was keep getting worse over the last 3 weeks. Now I don't think they'll make the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:33 AM
Bryan. These guys can come back to run the table, but I'm not leaning one way or the other. I don't see long-term playoff success, though. They're a decent team in a good district.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:35 AM
K Harker Heights. These guys win close games and that's a credit to their coaching. They'll probably make the playoffs, but I think the close games will catch up to them. No matter how much you win close games, you'll start to lose games if you don't have the talent to match better teams.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:39 AM
K Shoemaker. They picked the wrong teams to lose to. Middle of the road teams that beat you relegate you to the bottom of the standings and out of the playoffs. With these close losses, watch how they start to lose by more points. Your morale goes down and your play suffers.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:41 AM
Temple. These guys don't have a prayer! :D They'll go 0-10 and hopefully they don't give up on the coach. It looks like they're still playing hard and that's good for the future.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:42 AM
Waco. Tusa is a good coach and the last 2 weeks show they never gave up and good things started to happen. They'll probably be a spoiler and win a couple more games. I never expected them to be this bad this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:44 AM
Conroe. Close wins were a sign of what would happen vs. Lufkin and now they're entering a hard part of the schedule. No playoffs and several more losses await the Tigers.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:46 AM
Conroe Oak Ridge. These guys just aren't good. They'll have a hard time winning another game and probably won't. I still say playing 4A teams makes you soft for playing 5A teams.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:47 AM
Huntsville. Did I say something about soft? I think playing three 4A teams is great if you want to build confidence and have a good record, but it gets you teams like this and losses like this week.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:49 AM
Klein. They guys are nothing special. They're not bad or good and will probably finish around 5-5. I don't see them peaking and some team that is peaking will beat them if they make the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:52 AM
K Collins. These guys must say their prayers because they avoided The Woodlands. They might get 4th place, but the other 3 teams are a good amount better than Collins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:54 AM
K Forest. These guys are a pretty good team. They are one of the best teams I've eliminated. I say they can't contend for a title if The Woodlands is 2 TD's better than them. They can do damage with the right schedule, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:56 AM
Cedar Park. Boy, these guys are schizophrenic. They're up and down and that doesn't say a lot for their coaching. They'll miss the playoffs.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 11:58 AM
Georgetown. These guys will start playing better and win some games. All playoff bets are off, though. Close losses need to be replaced by good wins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:00 PM
Round Rock. This team won't get over the hump. They lost the close ones and won't be so lucky down the stretch. They'll finish on the wrong side of .500.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:04 PM
RR McNeil. I haven't gotten feedback, but figure they are one of my more unpopular evictions. They just aren't getting better. Wait until Pflugerville does a number on them. They are a borderline playoff team.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:07 PM
RR Stony Point. I have to give these guys a lot of credit. They started off bad and have come back with 2 good wins. The schedule gets tougher the next 2 weeks, but they're my pick to get one of the playoff spots.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:10 PM
RR Westwood. These guys are starting to get pounded. I do like who they schedule for games, though. It will probably get them a couple late-season wins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:11 PM
A Akins. Those early 4A wins were fool's gold. They're losing now that they're in district and I'm picking last place for thse guys and no more wins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:13 PM
A Anderson. These guys get props for not giving up after losing to three 4A teams. They might make the playoffs, but it won't get them any playoff wins.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:15 PM
A Bowie. Boy, they keep losing close games. They keep competing and the hard work will pay off a little before the season ends. It's too late to make the playoffs, though.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:17 PM
A Crockett. The castle is about to crumble for these guys. They're 4-2, but won't make the playoffs this year. They committed the cardinal sin of losing to the mediocre teams.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:19 PM
Austin High. They're nothing special and nothing to make fun of. You always need guys like that around. No playoffs this year.
lonny23
10-14-2005, 12:22 PM
Bastrop. I really like how these guys stepped up the effort after early season losses. They're in a good position to win the last 3 weeks and make the playoffs. Hey, they might even be able to sneak off a win.
lonny23
10-18-2005, 02:42 PM
OK, it's a small cut this week. 3 teams go out and 10 remain (Longview, Lufkin, Cove, Pflugerville, Leander, Westlake, Hays, Carter, Rockwall, and Woodlands). I look at who's going D1 or D2.
lonny23
10-18-2005, 02:44 PM
Rowlett didn't compete with Plano and hasn't won big enough. They'll go out in Round 1, too.
lonny23
10-18-2005, 02:46 PM
Garland. I kept giving them chances, but they haven't shown they'll beat you by enough points. 12-5A will take care of them.

10-18-2005, 02:46 PM
Rowlett didn't compete with Plano and hasn't won big enough. They'll go out in Round 1, too.
I think they could compete with Rockwall or Lee or Mesquite!!! Some teams do improve as the season progresses.
lonny23
10-18-2005, 02:47 PM
John Tyler is done. They'll lose the last 3 games and haven't played tough enough teams to lose.

Garland. I kept giving them chances, but they haven't shown they'll beat you by enough points. 12-5A will take care of them.
You wrote us off too early. Our main RB has been out because of grades and will return for the last two weeks. Our main WR who also starts in the secondary broke his foot, but will be back for the playoffs. Two OL starters have been hobbled or out by grades, but are expected back 100% this week and next week. Four more of the rotating second teamers that coach rotates in and out to keep fresh players on the field were in jerseys this past week, but all are expected back 100% before the playoffs.
We aren't contenders for the championship now, but with our D and the returning players, we got a shot come playoff time, slim at that, but a shot.

I'll keep that in mind.

10-26-2005, 11:09 AM
Rockwall. You just didn't win by enough last week and that makes the Longview game look more like a fluke than a normal performance.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:10 AM
Copperas Cove. I just see them as a step below Longview and Lufkin. They have a good team, but don't look great.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:10 AM
Leander. These guys are just scraping by and are ripe to get beat by a better team in the playoffs.
lonny23
10-26-2005, 11:11 AM
Hays Consolidated. You have some big wins, but I see you as a paper champion. I don't think you can hold up against the big boys.

John Tyler is done. They'll lose the last 3 games and haven't played tough enough teams to lose.
You sure about this one lonny? I think they can get past the first round and give the second round a good shot. Not bad considering their last few seasons. Just two district games left. I feel confident Lview will win but JT will give 110%. The game may be closer than expected.

Richardson Berkner. These guys will go 10-0 and be D1. They can win games, but not covering the spread makes me think they'll get a good beating somewhere along the way in Region 2. It won't be in Week 1 and it might not be in Week 2, but I bet they're gone by Week 3.
Well, they got to Week 3 and lost. I like looking back at my predictions.

05-29-2006, 06:37 PM
South Garland. I'm betting they get the old collar and finish in 4th. First loser is never fun in sports, but that's their lot this year.
Well, they surprised and played good in the playoffs for three weeks.

OK, here's your chance to bust my chops. I was wrong on these guys. I was pretty dead-on about most teams, but these guys proved me wrong and got to the semis, which was my criteria for not or for firing teams.
lonny23
05-29-2006, 06:41 PM
K Forest. These guys are a pretty good team. They are one of the best teams I've eliminated. I say they can't contend for a title if The Woodlands is 2 TD's better than them. They can do damage with the right schedule, though.
Yeah, these guys weren't bad. They deserved to get fired, but they were pretty good. Firing means not good enough to get to the semis.

05-29-2006, 06:42 PM
Cedar Park. Boy, these guys are schizophrenic. They're up and down and that doesn't say a lot for their coaching. They'll miss the playoffs.

Round Rock. This team won't get over the hump. They lost the close ones and won't be so lucky down the stretch. They'll finish on the wrong side of .500.
I'm randomly going back through the list, but I was wrong on these guys. They finished strong and ended up 6-5.

It's a funny post to dredge up as we approach next season. But, hats off to you for calling your shots. You kinda hit cove and kinda missed them as well. They ended up being a slight step below Lufkin, but they did a heck of a lot better than I think you were expecting.

Copperas Cove. I just see them as a step below Longview and Lufkin. They have a good team, but don't look great.
By my criteria, this was the right call, but I didn't make it at first. They weren't good enough to beat Lufkin.

05-29-2006, 06:50 PM
Hays Consolidated. You have some big wins, but I see you as a paper champion. I don't think you can hold up against the big boys.

I dug this stuff up because I'm looking to see if I called Cy Falls "Cry Falls" in the firing threads. I'm working my way towards the consolidated thread that had the teams I DIDN'T fire before the playoffs.
