It is cold and raining extremely hard this morning. :Censor:, I miss the DOME!
Maybe we will all get a break around game time.
Good luck to all. I pray all the games are injury free!!

Looks like the hardest stuff is into the afternoon and then it's supposed to lighten up a little. I am ready for anything - I'm going to look like the Gorton's of Gloucester fisherman tonight:). I hope the lightening stays away at least because that sets the delays in motion and then we'll end up playing at 1:00 in the morning!
I miss the dome today for sure - I don't understand why they can't set it up for use if Reliant isn't being used. This is perfect weather for injuries to happen and I don't like that at all. It's not fair that these kids should have to play in this muck, especially when the games are so important this time of the year.

I know the Dome is old, but do they not use it at all anymore for playoff games?

No. It hasn't been used for any games since Katrina. It's waiting to be demolished unfortunately.

The most miserable state-wide weather for PO's I can remember in a decade?
Stay safe.

I think I've seen some cats and dogs falling out of the sky!! This is nuts! I'm glad we aren't playing until 7:00 - the chance drops from 100% to 50% then. The teams playing from now until about 5:00 are going to have some absolute miserable weather. That is a bleeding shame.

this is terrible...its a good day to be playing on grass as opposed to artificial turf...the rubber is too slick today

We are playing on the newer grass like turf (not the carpet type astroturf) so that may help a little.

If you guys doesn't like the weather tonight, you only have yourselves to blame. We won the toss last year and elected to avoid weather issues by playing at Reliant. This year, it's your choice and so we'll be at Berry.
It won't be mucky. In fact, Field Turf is the best possible surface in wet weather. No muck, no big chunks of sod coming up like last year at Reliant, and not nearly as slick as the AstroTurf at Tully.
I think the weather won't be nearly as big a factor as you all seem to think. You'll be proud of your $80 million investment tonight.

Spare a thought for the ones who have to travel, particularly to West Texas. They'd kill to be in Region 3 right now, despite the rain.

From what I understand, Reliant wasn't available at all. But you are right, the field turf isn't nearly as bad as Astroturf and that showed last week when we played in that terrible rain. And those chunks at Reliant were horrible...there were divets everywhere. The rain chances are supposed to go down tonight though so all is good. I can take the rain and both teams will be ready for it as well.

What about the day games? What happens if they can't get them in today due to rain/thunder? Forcast for tomorrow isn't much better. Would games be played in a monsoon as long as there isn't thunder/lightning?

Interesting question when a venue has games double booked like Berry does today. If the Ridge/Ike game is delayed by a couple of hours due to lightning, do they play and push back the start of the next game? Or do they postpone the first game until the next day?
On the golf course, if you miss your tee time, you are the odd man out, they don't back everybody up. That may not apply tonight. Hope it doesn't come into play. There is still lightning in the Houston area right now and it's forecast to continue.

As long as there isn't lightening in the area of the stadium, they will play through the rain. Once they hear lightening, there is a 30 minute delay from that last strike that they hear - everytime there is another strike, the 30 minutes starts over. If the first game is delayed, then the second one starts late...so I hope the first one isn't delayed!

Was that always the plan? Or was it trashed that much during Katrina? Don't know if it would have made sense economically to keep it around for HS football and baseball games. But that would have been good. I didn't mind watching HS football games there.

I fear many games aregoing to be delayed. Seems to be thunder everyonce in awhile. If I were you I would take a long nap today as I think it's going to be a long, cold, wet evening.

Right now, we are just getting a light rain - no thunder or lightening - and I live just 5 minutes from the stadium so whatever it is here, it will be there for the most part...and the nap thing is probably not a bad idea - gotta have the energy to make it through:D

There was nothing better than going to the Dome for the 3 game playoff format. I'd bring the paper to read about all the teams. Then I'd have a big Dome dog and nachos. Take a nap between games. That was the life.:cry:cry

Hello all. I live about 2 min from the Berry and it is still dark an it is 10:54. All we need to do is let "The Burnner" run up and down the field for about 4 TD's and the field should be dry and the stadium will be warm.

Now that's a plan I can live with:):)
This is Texas. Remember Blue Laws. You can't do ANY school related activity on Sunday. They would just push back all the games. The second game would start 45 minutes after the first game.
Unfortunately, the Berry Center has state of the art lightning detectors. Normally they use a hand held meter to determine if lightning is within 6 miles. If one is not available, the officials look for visible lightening strikes and if the thunder comes within 30 seconds then there is a delay. But, the Berry Center has a sensitive system that leaves no doubt about delay. Delays are frustrating, but that is better than a player being injured or killed by lightening.
I used to love to go the Dome and watch games. I could care less who won and just enjoyed the football and the atmosphere. But the Dome became a DUMP.
I think I'll take Cy Falls 31-28 on late field goal after trailing 14-0 early. Either that or Eagles in a blowout. Or maybe Stratford in OT. Or...oh, I have no clue who will win. Nevermind.
