Sounds like they aren't over reacting to the coaching changes just yet. Smart kids!

Stonum & McGuffie Chat About the Future
In the aftermath of Lloyd Carr’s retirement Monday, Fort Bend (TX) Dulles WR Darryl Stonum has been fielding calls left and right from all over the country. The same has happened with fellow commitment, Sam McGuffie. The two prospects have talked their situations over at length and seem to be on the same page. Have the talented youngsters deviated from their plans to don the winged helmet?

The last few days have been like a blur for Fort Bend (TX) Dulles wideout Darryl Stonum. A phone call late Sunday afternoon briefly shook the firm ground in which his commitment to Michigan (http://michigan.scout.com/) had been planted. Ultimately though, it did not detour the plans of he or his friend Sam McGuffie (http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=2750610) to become Michigan Wolverines.

“Brandon Herron (http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=3299290) called and sounded kind of sad,” Stonum recalled. “He said, ‘Man, Coach Carr has just retired.’ Then he was like, ‘Our new coach might be Les Miles (http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=3014801).’ I’ve been hearing all of this Les Miles stuff. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I chose Michigan for a lot of other reasons than just the head coach, so I’m going to still be all right. Me and Sam McGuffie had a long talk. We didn’t know what to do for a while. We were like, "Man, what are we going to do?’ We were like, ‘We don’t want to go anywhere else.’ So it’s not like we’ll just go to this college or that college. We just want to go to Michigan. We’re going to stick with Michigan. We’re just waiting to see who is going to be our new head coach.”

Despite that certainty, other coaches will do their level best to peck away at Stonum’s resolve. The campaign started the moment Carr’s retirement news came down.

“Everybody started calling, texting, and everything,” said Stonum. “I was thinking about changing my number for a while. It’s still blowing up. I thought I was going to have to cut my phone off for a minute. Everybody started calling me again. Pete Carroll called me. Everybody called me. I got calls from Florida. They want me to come to Florida for a visit. If I go to Florida it will just be for the visit. I’m not going to go to their school or anything. It will be all right. I might go to Florida this weekend because it’s a free all (expenses) paid trip. That would be like a little vacation for me. But I’m still feeling Michigan. (The fans) don’t have to worry about me. I’m still going to go to Michigan regardless of what happens. I’m going to still be there January 6th.”

All that said, there does seem to be one factor at Michigan that is a source of concern.

“The main thing is, if Coach Jackson leaves then I don’t know what we’re going to do,” Stonum said. “I just want Coach Jackson and Coach Campbell to be there. But I’m good man. I’m chilling. I’m still going to go to Michigan regardless. I’m still going to stick with my decision.”

Those A&M kids are in the same situation, especially since Coach Fran resigned about an hour after the UT game.

I must say that UCLA has the same situation. There is talk Mike Leach from Texas Tech will take over. In that case, Katy RB Aundre Dean may want to rethink his plans on being a bruin.

Its too bad some of the top talent in the state goes and plays for Yankee schools like Michigan, etc.

Looks like there's gonna be some major shake-ups in the NCAA. Signing day is only 3 months away. A lot of big decisions in such a short amount of time.

I don't agree with that either, but the kids gotta do what makes them happy.

I understand, but would you rather see them at Michigan or Oklahoma State? OSU gets more 5a kids from Texas than just about any other out of state school.

It's hard to try to keep them all in Texas.

Hmmm, tough call. Both are north of the Red River. Anyone spend a winter in Michigan? Woooooo. No thanks.
